Becoming popular for a reason

always hear about Cobs Creek, little rough around the edges but great layout, some truly spectacular holes, lost of blind shots. Greens were in very good shape but a bit on the slow side. Rough & fairways in great shape with a couple bare patches. Will definitely return

Great Family time!

The location for us was perfect. The staff was friendly and helpful, providing water and refreshments on a very hot day! The only negative is some of the tee boxes were not in great shape but good for a public course. Overall it was a great course and perfect for family time. Thanks, Cobb's Creek Golf course and staff!

Much better than expected

Reading other GN reviews, I did not expect much. Most accurate reviews were that May and June were best conditions. I really enjoyed the outing and thought the course was in generally good condition. Greens were excellent and true. Entire layout was interesting and back nine somewhat challenging. As single I paired up with 3 nice guys. Negative would be the sand traps of which most were in below average to poor condition. Well worth the GN price in spring.

would of been great if they wherent working on each hole

the grounds crew was working on every single whole, works sitting in the tee box waiting for you to tee off so they could do what seemed to be not needed work to the course. other then the tee boxes being soaked from over water, staff where rude in the boxes talking leaving sprinklers on while teeing off. which was still going on while playing the course was in great shape.

Great layout

I have played the coarse several times. The first couple holes are mediocre. The back nine is fantastic. There are several great golf holes. Great price at 42 dollars

Unbelievably slow

This course isn't maintained very well and has absolutely nothing to offer in the way of amenities. But if you play it before it burns up (April and May), it's a really cool classic Philadelphia golf course. While it's not very long, it's a challenge. The greens are tricky when they're rolling and the undulation makes shot placement key.

I'm writing this review in hopes that some one there reads this. This past weekend I showed up for a 937 tee time and when I got to the first tee there was a herd of golfers. I was told by the starter that he was already backed up by half an hour AT 937 IN THE MORNING!!!! We didn't get off until about 1020. The round was brutally slow and we didn't finish until nearly 330. I'd probably recommend this course to a friend who was going to play the first tee time or to someone I didn't like very much.

Everything but the pins.

The course was in good shape and the fairways were very green. The only issue was the Pin placement. It seemed like you had to be Jorden Speith to score on these greens. A lot of the pins were placed in front of the greens and multiple cups were present on the greens. My foursome had multiple putts make the cup, but then gradually roll off the greens and it made it difficult to sink putts. I found this odd, being that there was an outing behind us. Why make the greens that difficult in the winter when the surface is extremely hard and fast anyway. I was happy with the overall conditions of the Olde Course.

In the winter every public course puts 2 holes in greens for the duration of the season. Its too cold to cut new pins every day in frozen ground and the golfer is supposed to switch flags to the alternate hole when you get to the green. This keeps one area from getting beat up

Never Again.

Had a tee time for this disaster of a course yesterday morning. I haven't played here in about 3 years because of a terrible previous experience. Yesterday's experience will ensure I NEVER return. Ever.

We booked the first tee time of the day, at 6AM for two golfers through Golfnow. We arrive at 545AM only to see the parking lot full. We make our way inside to the clubhouse and there was a line of no less than 10-15 guys waiting to be rung out and sent out. The woman behind the counter could not have been more unhelpful, unprepared, or miserable. When asked, one of the patrons said he plays every Sunday and it's really a 'first come first serve tee time process'. After standing in line until 605AM (past our supposed 'tee time'), we heard to woman state to another player that the carts aren't out yet and that they would take a little while to get out. By my estimation, we would not have gotten off the tee until 630 or after. Due to the fact that we were hoping to play at a quick pace and did not care to play a shot to shot round--we left immediately. We booked the earliest tee time because of almost every previous review and our own experience with the 6 hour round issue here and we expected that. So we figured by being the first ones off, we'd bypass that. Note: It does not matter what tee time you have!

This course always has been and always will be a complete and utter joke. The fact that they book 45 golfers in a 15 minute span tells you exactly what they think of your golfing experience. I can't speak to the conditions because I obviously did not play but if they are anything like they were previously, the tee boxes are atrocious and the greens have crab grass growing through them. Would not even play this course for free. Terrible excuse for a golf course. If I could give it negative stars, I would.

Great Course

This is a great course. Very nice greens, and very nice fairways. When your ball lands in the rough it's very noticeable. There was a good pace of play except for the people behind us who were rushing us to get done. We couldn't focus on our shots, so I'd say if you just wanna go out and have a good relaxing time, then karakung is the better course, but if your going out to play serious golf, then cobbs is the course for you. I especially love hole 14, par 5, 614 yards. Overall great course.

Cobbs Creek on a weekday

Course is in good shape but try and avoid late morning play. You will want to get in early or late to enjoy better place of play.

Overbooked, 6 hour round, poor service

Nice course, interesting layout, great condition for the price, but way over book, and incompetently run. Our tee time at 9:35 was delayed almost 30mins??? We met up with the group in front of us on each tee. How does the course get sooo backed up by then? overbooking and rangers that don't do their job. We saw a 5 some in front of us, surprise surprise. Food cart came at hole 4 and then saw again at 14. Food at turn is some mysterious 3rd party place you have to leave the course for through a gate and didnt look open or obvious where to go from the course, so we skipped it.

I believe the 3rd party food spot your referring to is the local driving range if you were playing the Olde course. Am I correct?

Challenging layout

Course layout is challenging. If they put some money into the course, it would be one of my favorites to play in the area. This course gets beat up by a lot of traffic because of its location. There aren't many public courses this close to the city.

18 holes for 6 hours to finish with drunk golfers

We are not happy because ther is no ranger, it took us 6 hours to finish the round due to the golfer in front of us were all drunk they brought their own cooler which is supposed not allowed . Still they were able to bring in on the cart. Then behind us there're 8 golfer playing were also drunk. Hitting balls while we are waiting for the golfer in front of us to finish the putting.

cobbs

Course conditions get better every time. Greens and bunkers could use work. Pace of play was not very good. I think they book too many tee times and do not really care much about pace or tee times.

Good design, but never organized

This is my local course and it is a good design and a decent value ($46 on Sat am through golfnow.com.) HOWEVER, there is no sense of organization or order in the pro shop or on the first tee. A Saturday round will take at least 4.5 hours. There are a significant number of homeless people who routinely wander the course and one should keep an eye on their valuables. The course appears to be under new management and is improving, but keep you expectations reasonable.

Could be nicer

This place could really be an amazing place. It's still really nice but the lay out on some holes are weird and they do not take advantage of the scenery such as the creek and the woodsy areas.

Still tops in Philly

Have played the Olde course at Cobbs many times. The course is in good shape. Holes 1 thru 6 have water hazards, and on this day 4 thru 8 and 12 and the 600 yd par 5 played into the wind. Has many varying types of holes.

Pretty nice!

I really enjoyed playing the course and will be back for sure. The greens are very tricky and some of the pin positions were extra challenging. Some pretty narrow fairways and the creek presents lots of opportunities for trouble.

17 is currently not a real hole, there was a pin in the fairway as the green is under construction.

I felt this course was a step above the other Golf Philly/Casper managed courses.
