3 Lakes Golf Course
About
3 Lakes Golf Course originally opened in 1923 under the name Alcoma Golf Course. Along with the name change, it also opened its doors to the public and has since become a local favorite. It's known as one of the best values for your money in the area, offering country club-style golf at public rates. The layout was designed by Emil Loeffler, who designed two other courses in Pittsburgh – Highland Country Club and Shannopin Country Club. The course sprawls across more than 150 acres of gently rolling terrain, providing rolling fairways and undulating greens. The classic layout is tough but fair. You'll be tested with a variety of different lies and the holes have plenty of diversity as well, ranging from some that are on the shorter side to others that are monstrous.

much better
after some some rain and sun fairways very nice this time and the greens were consistant throughout. much better conditions.
Course in bad shape
Course is in really bad condition . Once played I was surprised they charge full price. Could not even drive 90 degree across the fairway
It was very enjoyable to play.
The layout of the course was nice. The greens were in great shape and the fairways were nice as well. The only negative was that the sand bunkers were extremely hard and nearly impossible to hit out of.
No Grass in Fairway
This is the poorest condition that I have ever seen this course and I have played it for 10 years.
The fairways had very little grass. It was mainly dead in the fairway. There were multiple spots where it was a swamp land and you lost the ball in the middle of the fairway.
The greens were in decent shape. Some inconsistency in speed, but overall smooth.
I understand that at the beginning of the year, the course was in good shape, but this is not the case now.
Maybe they should just close the course for now. It really is not a golf course now.
Great layout and great staff
The greens were in wonderful condition and well maintained. As good as the greens were, the fairways, with the exception of one or two, were in pretty bad shape. Overall, I will definitely return to play again.
Apparent problem with all fairways ...dried up/cracked....greens OK
Must fix fairways problem for next season... greens were OK ..nobody advised us about the problems
Disgusting
The condition of this course was appaling. The course layout is pitiful to begin with, and made worse by its terrible condition. The fairway grass was mostly non-existent, and created a condition where the best lie was in the rough. Under no circumstances will I ever return. It is obvious why this is no longer a country club. Its a shame too, because it is ten minutes from my house.
this course needs work
fairways were in poor shape they blamed it on the rain they had but I played a few other couses in the area they were in much better condition
needs a ton of work to bring it back to decent shape
can see where this course was great at one time, but i doubt will be around another 5 years ... HUGE Drainage problems, fairways in horrible shape ... BE WARNED - carts not permitted on fairways due to their extremely bad shape ... this add HOURS to your round ... Staff / Members ride around playing multiple holes or attempting to play thru - happened 4 times to us so is obviously a common event. Wish i could have seen this course 10 years ago ... unless there are MAJOR changes this course is on it's way to being closed!
ONE BRIGHT SPOT - the restaurant / bar served excellent food at a great price ... would stop by just for lunch!
Good course for the price and location.
Good course for the price and location. Much better and traditional than Grand View at a cheaper rate. Old country club that couldn't maintain membership. Fairways were a little fried because of heat lately. Holes 5 and 12 have irrigation issue that floods the approach shot and is always chunky. If you play from the tips its a good challenge. They don't do the best job of getting people off and spacing, so peak times you'll have five groups tee of within 30 minutes and people on top of one another.
NICE WESTERN PA GOLF COURSE
First time playing here, course and greens were in nice shape considering the extreme weather this week. I really liked the layout, doglegs, blind shots, and some interesting par 3's. Big discount on golfnow, and I am looking forward to returning.
Challenging And Fun
This course is challenging with it's tight fairways, hilly terrain, and fast greens. Some areas need a little maintenance but with all the rain lately it will get a pass for now. I like the layout of the holes.
Course in great shape
Allows for quick play. We played in 3 1/2 hours. Nice layout, great shape.
Great course
Very difficult course and fast greens. Long par 5 and great par 3 holes. Overall course is in good condition.
Typical Western PA course; lots of bad lies in middle of fairways.
Course pretty well maintained; bunkers need some help...Greens extremely soft but very fast.
The layout and the terrain of the course will challenge every aspect of your game
The course was in great shape from the tee boxes to the greens with the exception of a couple of areas that did not drain well from all of the recent rains. The fairways and greens were country club quality. The rolling hills created some challenging uphill/downhill lies. Beware the green side bunkers. I found so many I actually played well out of the last 3 or 4.
I will definitely play it again.
Greens are fast and putt true
course was in great shape even with the recent rainstorms
Need rangers on the course.
Great course, well maintained, friendly staff. They do need a ranger on the course though. We played behind an extremely slow group of three on the front 9 and then somehow a group of 6 on the back nine.
