Great place to play- Photo submitted by goody39420 on 04/18/2013
Fun but poor maintenance
It’s CA in a drought year I get that. 100% okay to have patchy dryness but over 60% of all putting surface is completely burnt off not even dry literally dirt patches all over greens so don’t plan on having fun with anything besides driver and irons. Grass/rough first cut completely forgotten about as well. Should be able to find your golf ball if you miss fairway by 1-2 yards this is not a PGA championship. Fun layout great people work there super fun and friendly. But dog ish maintenance
Nice Course but 5some?
Was a nice course that is very well laid out and challenging. Our round took 5 hours because we were a twosome that got paired with a threesome though we did pretty good to stay close to the group in front of us. The holes have some right spots but nothing super challenging and there are some gaps to find to leave yourself some good chance of being on in 2 on the par 5s.
Beautiful layout
This is a very fun course to play it has great views and hills obviously some of the greens are a bit small and tough to hit and right now they are playing slow the fairways are in great condition some Teebox need a little love. I will definitely come back if I find the right deal again
The teeing ground should be a preferred lie!
Really disappointed with the condition of the tees at Auburn Valley. The fairways were a bit inconsistent but that is to expected in February. The greens were in excellent condition and rolled true. Hopefully, the tees will be addressed
Wouldn't go back won't recommend
Where's the start. We first had a tea time for 11:40 upon arrival our tea time was pushed back to 12:10. Was never notified however not the biggest deal, although we did have appointments in the afternoon/evening that was concerning. The driving range was more like a sand/gravel pit with dead grass. There was an area for a members only driving range which wasn't much better (we are not a member). But was not happy with that considering the price of tee time and the higher expectation of Auburn valley country club.
Pushing back our tee time and driving range aside we're here to play golf. The fairway And tee Boxes would be best described as a pitiful attempt to grow five different species of grass without water. Hard rocky fairways that have not been watered patchy grass was not in good condition at all. Greens were okay if you consider hitting a golf ball on a slab of concrete satisfactory. Greens were so hard even a well-placed conservative shot would bounce 10 ft in the air and roll 60 yd. I am all for difficult play however these were just greens that were not taken care of. At the end of the day not impressed with Auburn valley country club would have requested a refund if we were not on a time constraint. With dark horse, The ridge, And also Sierra nearby there are much better options.
Good overall
Some players not courteous and understanding of slower pace ahead of you. Mayb the winter weather and rain caused average conditions. Still was impressed with the layout and smaller than usual greens. Club Sandwich was a bomb ! May repeat in better weather.
Frost delays cut our round short
We did start about an hour late, because of a frost delay. Greens were in good shape and fairways were okay for the cold of winter. Staff was nice and handled the delay well as well as impatient golfers. We got 16 holes in, before darkness.
Decent Course; Needs more marshalls
Beautiful day to play. Course was in decent shape for the winter. Had to quit after hole 10 though due to a rowdy party of 4 ahead of me. They were playing extremely slow on purpose and laughing about it. They would lose clubs and be running across fairways during my turn to retrieve their clubs. It was maddening. Also there were not enough carts for every who had booked and I had to wait for another player to finish their round.
Course was in pretty good shape. Greens were extremely fast if you got above hole. They had pin placements in tough positions. The tee boxes were terrible and very un-level. Pretty easy fix if they would spend a little time and money and fix that. Rest of course was fine and fair.
Bone dry fairways
Bone dry fairways, spongy overwatered greens, tee boxes in disarray and $69 for 18 holes. If you don’t get a deal online I would pass on golfing here.
Poor conditions
Lack of water has made the fairways lack grass, including the tee area. The greens are not in good condition.
