Great place to play- Photo submitted by goody39420 on 04/18/2013
Auburn Valley
A classic course that is fair and challenging. Plenty of tee box options. Great views.
My only criticism is that some of the fairways are drying out with sections of hard pan.
Well worth driving one and one half hours, through some winding mountain road.
Well managed Covid-19 sanitation situation around the pro shop area and the carts. Well managed fairways and the greens. Tee boxes are a little bit hard. The best golf carts , equipped with good working GPS.
Well worth of driving one and 1/2 hours to get to the course. A couple of birdies helped the enjoining the round. I will return here before the daylight gets shorter in November. Thanks GolfNow.
Course was in very good shape!
At check in they didn’t have my Teeoff reservation so I had to show them my printout. The tee time was double booked so we were late getting started. Not sure why there was problems with the online reservation.
booking snafu
course said golf now bookings seem to be made without checking tee sheet, luckily. weonly had a short delay
Issue with GolfNow communication
The course itself was great and the staff was quite helpful. But, there were multiple groups, including mine, that had booked through GolfNow but didn’t show up in the Auburn Valley GC reservation system. So the starter had to plug us in wherever he could. Our 7:30am start time ended up being 8:10am. For us, it was fine, but another twosome that also booked through GolfNow and played with us had to leave early since the later start time caused them to be behind schedule. Hopefully Auburn Valley GC and GolfNow can get things figured out in the future.
Nice Course
Had a 6:40am tee time. Pro Shop sent me off on #10 solo to beat a tournament onto the course. Pace was quick. Course was in very good shape, although a bit wet. Course was being watered through the first nine. Very fun, playable course. Will definitely play here again.
Customer service needs help
We arrived with plenty of time to hit balls and putt before we teed off. The real issue is that they people that work at Auburn Valley were already teed off. We all got an earful from them about how we shouldn’t use GolfNow anymore to book tee times as they will not honor those times going forward and that we were double booked for the 8:40 time slot. How would we know that they shouldn’t be on GolfNow anymore?! The starter kept a close eye on us when we were on the range since he was “doing us a favor” by squeezing us in. Not my favorite thing to be rushed off the practice range when we had plenty of time only to be sandwiched in between 2 groups and had to tee off on number 10! And they raised the green fee significantly as well. For a course that won’t take tee times from GolfNow and they want to charge $69 / round they really need to do quite a bit to get their course to this level. Speaking of level, there was only 2-3 level tee boxes at this course, and one of the guys wanted to buy an extra sleeve of balls and could only get one kind. I couldn’t believe how they had little to no merchandise in the pro shop but had brand new golf carts!! Something is definitely a miss at Auburn, this is a far cry from the great customer service I have received in the past. I will not be making the effort to go back anytime soon.
Great course when they have hot deals
We play this course quite a bit and never have to wait much on the tee boxes. The staff state that they are unaware of when golf now tee times are made so there tends to be some confusion but usually never a problem. One Saturday there was a tournament so our tee time from golf now as mixed in with the tournament and was forced to walk after paying for a cart as part of the tee time.
might be a bit before I come back
Staff at the course were very nice. I walked in and had said I made a reservation on golf now and another reservation on their website and realized both don't talk to each other because they're not synchronized. She indicated they'd been having issues with GolfNow, so as of 8/23/2020, it hasn't been fixed.
Some member yelled at me because I bought a bucket of balls and was heading to hit a few practice shots, but apparently I missed a tiny sign on the ground that said members only. Anyhow, I didn't have an issue moving to the "public" driving range (same thing, just 10 feet to the left), I just had issues with this punk yelling at me. Either way, not reflective of the staff of the course.
Regarding the course layout and the carts, I had lots of issues. The carts are geofenced and there are major major issues around hole 6 and 7. Spent like 10 minutes pushing the cart back into geofenced area, because the cart essentially became disabled. Also, we had massive confusion about the course and the directions to get to the next hole because apparently we completely missed 2 holes. Makes no sense to us how that happened, but oh well.
It'll be a bit before I come back. I feel like this course too far of a drive from Sacramento for my personal taste.
Great layout and difficult fairways
Amazing course with some lengthy par 5 and fun par 3s
Nice little mountain gem
Pretty course in the Auburn foothills. Fun layout with new upgraded carts with GPS course screens ubs plug-ins too. Nice outdoor grill area for 19th hole drinks & food.
