Good spot for limited budget players
Flying Hills is unique, eccentric, mysterious and fun. And a little rough around the edges.
Nice Course
It’s Tight. Don’t recommend for beginners that spray the ball due to houses. But if you are good golfer and or can keep between the trees on the holes. This place is pretty cool. Nice elevated holes that run through Townhouses. If you haven’t played here. Check it out. I liked it. Hole 18 Par 3 over the water was cool finishing hole. My score: 43/42
Played just to practice on a course
Haven't played this course in a number of years. It is early Spring and grass hasn't started to grow, so fairways were thin with some bare patches. There are a few holes with sloped fairways which send a good tee ball into the lower rough. There are also some tree lined tight fairways, so if you have trouble controlling your ball flight, you might find a more forgiving layout. There are also a few "blind shots" where prior knowledge would be helpful. All in all I was just looking for a place to get in a little "on course" practicing , so I was satisfied with the "hot deal" pricing.
Downhill Spiral
I think the fact that we were the only group there at 7 am on a beautiful Saturday morning says it all. This corse used to be one of the nicer ones in the area but it has gone seriously downhill over the last couple of years. Even at $40 — it’s still priced to high. All they are doing is mowing the grass. The entire course needs some tender loving care!!! At this point, I would be shocked if this course remains open. Furthermore, this i is not a course for beginners (which I am not) — most of the course is tight and in and out of condos and the greens are slow. Bring your water because I don’t recall seeing any. There may have been 1or 2 port-a-potty’s — so your bladder needs to be forewarned.
Great conditions but fairly narrow
First time playing Flying Hills and it certainly wasn't bad. The greens were slow yet challenging with many contours in them. Fairways and bunkers were excellent. The biggest problem was how narrow the course played with there being little rough due to the tree line being directly next to the fairway. Playing through a housing development wasn't too appealing either. I may be back if the price presents itself, but otherwise I will steer away.
Tough little course
Short in length but makes up with tight fairways and some high rough. Rough not so high you can't play out but will affect control. Greens very thick and lush which made the slower than they were on previous rounds but with some of the slopes you don't want real fast greens. Overall course was in good shape. 1 person net to hit into at back of 1st tee for some warm up. Putting green is strictly there for display since it is never mowed to putting green length. Great bar and grill across parking lot to eat and get a drink after round.
Flying Hills
Group had set up a day to play this course. Last minute guys had to skip the day. Just a two some played. Weather was excellent and not many people playing. Course was in great shape with some spots that were healing on a few greens. It did not impede play. Fairways and tee boxes were in good shape. Good layout with a few blind shots and fair layout. I would like to come back and play this course again.
