Reading Country Club
About
Opened in 1923, Reading Country Club is one of the area's oldest golf courses. Located less than a half hour from King of Prussia, the course is easily accessible from anywhere in the greater Berks County area. Though it has a traditional layout that doesn't have the length that most modern courses do, that hasn't stopped it from being one of the most challenging public golf courses in Berks County. The rolling terrain provides a variety of elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. The course will test you with lightning fast, undulating greens that are protected by sand traps and there is punishing rough bordering the narrow, tree-lined fairways. Be prepared for uphill shots and blind approaches throughout the golf course. Reading Country Club's par 3s are especially notable for their difficulty.

Wow. Great hidden gem.
Wanted to golf for Father’s Day. Got on finding a course late. Most were booked. Found Reading CC online. Read about the history of the course. Amazing story. The course was is great shape, great for any level player. Carts are brand new. The club house is a castle. And green fees are very reasonable. I will be back! So glad I found this course! I live about 40 mins away in Chester country. Check out their site and the about section!
Thunderstorm , eh?
All is wonderful as usual at this high profile, challenging golf course. My only gripe this time was that by hole 4 there was a few claps of thunder. Then we played on and then they blew the evacuate the course horn by hole 11, for 1 bolt of lightning. After a 45 minute delay, and maybe 2 minor rumbles of thunder, we were allowed to return and finish, but 2 old coots and their fat wives played like snails the rest of the way, holding up the course to the point we were screaming for them to MOVE IT. Seriously, these people took 15 minutes to putt out a hole and they were all shooting about 150 for the round. Please, deadbeats , take your wives to Willow Hollow where all hacks belong. The holes their are short and you can break 120 there.
Good weather
Reading Country Club was in good condition. A few traps being worked upon but over just a really nice course.
Worth the Drive
All good at Reading CC. Friendly staff, ground crew and golfers. A welcomed Grass driving range.
Historic Course with a layout that keeps you interested and on your toes. Rewarding for accurate drivers or 3-wood.
While Not long by today’s standards it’s a challenging course no doubt.
Greens and fairways are in top shape.
Tees boxes a bit hard with the summer season. But flat and mowed.
Worth the drive
great day for bad golf
the course was great but the golf was not but it was a perfect day and it was golf........the course is getting better....they are trying
An underpriced underappreciated gem
They're putting a ton of work into maintaining and updating this classic. Findlay was kinda all over the place as an architect but this is his best work. Keep working on the bunkers and treelines and fix the fungus on the teens and it'll the world class.
Would frustrate golfers who struggle to elevate the ball but everyone else should go.
Great course..playing there again tomorrow.'nuff said?
great time
the greens were nice and fast.....the best round I've had in a year.........course is in great shape even with a few trees down.......reminded me when it was private
getting ther
they are trying.new carts....some bunker upgrade.....nice course to play..greens a little iffy but true.......as always a joy to play
Great course
The drive in shows a spectacular club house. The almost 100 year course is amazing a true test of golf. I used every club in the bag. I will be back
Fantastic Course
This is a great layout. I would definitely play here again!
can I really play
weather gr8.course nice.....my game sucked......so bad I had 1 par, at least it was on 18....so I will not give up the game......just one of those days
Best bang for your buck
Easily one of the best public courses in the area. Also pretty awesome it has a history of some pros as well, with Byron Nelson being the club pro and Sam Snead still holding the course record. Highly underrated course. If you haven't played this yet, add it to your list!
Tough challenge as usual
I don't care how good you THINK you are, come play this classic beautiful golf course for a real challenge. Par 3's are diabolical and not a course in the state has any total tougher, even from the white tees. The average player has no hope from the blue tees. They are all gems. Most par 4's and 5's are going to make you play good drives to have a good score. Greens are pretty quick and require good putting as all have slopes to be reckened with. This is a BEAUTIFUL course to play for the average to great player. Heck, Pro events used to be played here. Beginners GET LOST, as you will stink up the joint. I love this course.
Trying
they are trying to get the course back to what it was when Private.........greens were slow which was to be known.........rough tough as always........do not like raised cups but it was nice to play again
Keep up the good work and someday soon,I hope, it will be back to being the best couse in Berks Co
Great time. Course was playing tuff but overall this will be on our list next year to play a few times!!
Decent course
Nice old course. Could be a gem, but a little rough around the edges. Smaller greens, lots of steep fairways: this is how golf used to played.
Tuff course for people in late 70 and handy capped
If you have trouble walking up and down hills stay away
What a great layout! Greens were amazing! Lovely course with great views!!!
