Skytop Lodge - Poconos Golf Course
About
Skytop Golf Course sprawls across rolling hills set against a backdrop provided by the beautiful Poconos. The course originally opened in 1927. It has a classic design with traditional features including wide fairways, but the trees that line them have matured into quite the challenge. The 6,656-yard length may seem short by modern standards but don't get too comfortable. This mountain golf course features a variety of elevation changes and nowhere is this more apparent than the small greens where the breaks can vary from subtle to dramatic, but they are almost all unexpected. The greens also play lightning fast. Strategically placed bunkers are lurking throughout but thankfully water only comes into play on two holes. Skytop Golf Course offers plenty of scenic respite as well, with panoramic views of West Mountain.

The leaves were at their best, and the views great. Photo submitted by bdad9428 on 10/18/2013
Golf at Skytop
The started was very friendly and we were able to tee off right at our scheduled tee time. The course itself was in excellent condition
Great Course and Staff
I felt like I was at a top private country club! The staff was so friendly and helpful, especially the Head Golf Professional Justin Alunni.
The golf course was in great shape and is very challenging but fair. Love the mix of long and short par 4 holes.
This is a must play!
2 holes with water - both important.
Course was in good condition. Several great holes.
White tees play at 6386 yds. Forward tees (red) were at 5713. There should be something in between - had to improvise a “hybrid tee”.
Final hole is nasty! But great for betting!
Hole# 10 is a short par 4 with a drive over water, also potentially pivotal.
Fun round at Skytop
Course is in great shape. Friendly and helpful staff. Round was slower then we hoped which was the only downside.
Good Layout in excellent condition
First time playing here. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The course provides a good test from the white tees for a senior with a 14 handicap. Greens were very fast and true. Overall the course was in great shape. Pace of play was slow. Fortunately the slower groups let us play through.
I will definitely play here again!
Skytop finally
Have wanted to play Skytop for a long time. Never got around to it. Played yesterday. Course was in nice condition. Course is basic. Green complexes average. Was surprised by the amount of distance from green to next tee often. That's quite odd for a 1928 course. Glad I made the journey to play.
Great course
Some holes are very long and challenging but overall a great course. Also has places to rent on the course. Suggested to my family to visit and play golf at Skytop.
Beautiful scenery
You really need a Ranger to check on play . Back up was horrendous
New staff?
This has always been a nice course; the problem in the past has been the staff (particularly in the pro shop) just being snobby and/or nasty. Not so this time around, so hopefully they’ve had a change of staff and a change of heart. Pro Shop guy was super nice, as was the starter. They had my bag on a cart without me even checking in. On the negative side, 2 holes had the flag pulled and one hole had a screwdriver laying on it (the tool, not the drink).
COURSE IN GREAT SHAPE
SKYTOP IS IN PERFECT CONDITION RIGHT NOW. I RECOMMEND PLAYING IT... GREENS ARE ROLLING FAST, FAIRWAYS FIRM, AND SCORING IS SOLID.
BB review
I understand there was snow two weeks ago so the greens are a little rough in spots where they have been seeded. Overall for a Pocono course which is at higher elevation it was in pretty good condition.
Pace of play was excellent. Done in less than 4 hours playing at a nice clip.
COURSE WORTH TRAVELING TO
NICE COURSE THAT HAS A LOT OF DIFFERENT SHOTS THAT ARE NEEDED TO PLAY...I RECOMMEND THIS COURSE. IT WAS WINDY TODAY, SO A BIT MORE DIFFICULT. GREENS WERE AVERAGE AT BEST. IT IS WORTH THE RIDE... PLAY IT!
Amazing Course
I am in love with this Course! It is one of the best I’ve played in this side of PA and it’s always in great shape and the best value for your money.
