Skytop Lodge - Poconos Golf Course
About
Skytop Golf Course sprawls across rolling hills set against a backdrop provided by the beautiful Poconos. The course originally opened in 1927. It has a classic design with traditional features including wide fairways, but the trees that line them have matured into quite the challenge. The 6,656-yard length may seem short by modern standards but don't get too comfortable. This mountain golf course features a variety of elevation changes and nowhere is this more apparent than the small greens where the breaks can vary from subtle to dramatic, but they are almost all unexpected. The greens also play lightning fast. Strategically placed bunkers are lurking throughout but thankfully water only comes into play on two holes. Skytop Golf Course offers plenty of scenic respite as well, with panoramic views of West Mountain.

Amazing Fall conditions
This course was in amazing condition for November. The greens were like it was April with little play on them.
Good hole variety
First time playing this course. Day was low 50's and 12-15 mph winds. that added to the challenge to figure out what to hit on my first time playing it.
I liked the varied holes. Some are easy, some are challenging in that you have to watch for tilted fairways on some, dogleg causing run out on others.
Sand traps were in bad shape, but it is November of a rainy year. Tee Boxes in good shape. Fairways and greens also in good shape. Greens were slower than I expected but I think that's intentional due to the time of year. The greens weren't nearly as undulating at the course write stated.
The scenery is good. Varies from resort buildings, to private homes, some nice elevation views and changes on the course. The cost was super cheap. It's the 4th 'resort' course in the Poconos I've played and it ties for first place of the four. I liked their simple tee box signs. Basic and easily visible from a distance.
I do think the tee box and yardages could be improved. Forward tees measure just over 5,700 then the whites are almost 6,400. Wide gap for those two. I'd recommend they add a 4th tee box to some holes to shorten the white's.
It seemed well maintained and good signage around the resort. The parking was minimal though, so I wonder where folks go on busy warm months.
I'll go again even though it's a 90 minutes drive. I thought it above average of all courses I've played.
Great value
Great round , on a challenging course well kept course. BYOFB
Wonderful course
This course is wonderful. A good challenge to any level player. I'd recommend it to anyone!
Prove to high for this time of year
Very high price for the coarse in the condition it’s in now. Half the bunker are filled with water. Friendly staff
Skytop nice
Staff friendly course nice condition even after rain and one of our friends got the golf cart stuck in the mud by ignoring the signs
Try this course
Nice course, scenic, with beautiful views. Some challenging holes.
Great golf course but some slow players were bothering me
Golf course was nice shape and beautiful view of around some holes. Some poor performers played so slow and they made me waiting few minutes every single hole. They never let us go through them. I guessed you should overcome this ridiculous moment each hole to play through. Except that moment it was so good time and enjoyable time for playing golf at this golf course.
nice course
First time playing here. Course was challenging but playable. Played on a Monday at one PM, pace of play was great (under 4 hrs). Will play here again.
A great challenging course.
The Golf Pro, his assistant and staff were most helpful, gracious. Look forward to a return visit.
Pretty and challenging
The rough is tall for a resort course but we were able to find our errant shots and play on. The greens were somewhat slow but smooth. Beautiful setting and a good golf experience.
