Carolina Club, The

This course was pretty challenging, especially given the wind that day.Par 3's are longer and challenging, very nice. Being from the Northwest the Bermuda is way different and challenging if you have never played out of it. GREENS were fast and break true, even in late November with unusual cod temps and rain. Friendly staff and members.

We enjoyed our golf at Carolina Club. Have played the course ,many times previously. Some of the greens were in bad shape, but it has been really hot. You need to get rid of some of those Canadian geese! Grill lunch was great and affordable. Thought the rate was a little high.

Although the greens had been aerated a few days earlier the course was still in great shape.

We were staying on OBX for a week and decided to bring the sticks. Reviews said this is the best public course near OBX, so we booked on GolfNow for a weekday - it is just the start of Off-Season - so price was pretty good compared to high season rates.
There was hardly anyone there when we played (Thurs mid-day, early Sept), so we putzed around at the range and putting green, let another group go ahead of us so we had someone to follow (1st time there). It had rained an inch the day before, so it was Cart Path Only, which changed the dynamic a lot, plus the fairways weren't all mowed recently, and traps were thick sand. Found a lot of OK holes, a few real nice ones, and a few pretty boring ones. We played a mix of blue/gold tees: mostly gold unless the required carry was too long: and tried to mix up the distances on the par-3's (seem all to be 170-ish). Tees were fine, even on the par 3's they weren't too beat up.The (bent grass?) rough is really grabby - hard to get the club on the ball. I guess it's the penalty for being in the rough, but it became frustrating.
The greens were OK: putted true and held pretty well, yet a bit inconsistent as far as amount of grass on them so hard to gauge speed sometimes.
The people there were really nice, treating guests almost like at a private club. And the quick BBQ sandwich at the turn is only $5.50 and it's really good!
Overall, we had a good time and were pleased with the course/experience. But if we had paid peak rates, I don't know if it would have been worth it. Still thinking about it overall - if this is the 'best of OBX' golf, maybe next time we'll save our money and just enjoy the beach that we paid a ton of money to stay at.... golf in PA is just as good and cheaper.

I get excited to play this course every year when I return to the Outer Banks with my family. I absolutely love the layout of this course. Lots of variety for every player out there. You won't be disappointed!!!

Me and my wife really enjoyed playing the Carolina Club, this was the second time we played it and it was a lot better this time around. The last time we played they were in the process of air-rating. Would highly recommend playing it.

Played here as a storm was brewing and the winds were blowing hard. The rain held off fortunately. Hardly anyone on the course do we played really fast.

Course was in ok condition. Very nice tee boxes. Fairways were descent except for the crabgrass that was growing in various places. Greens were nice except for the large number of unrepaired ball marks. The course overall had a nice layout with a few very interesting holes.

I would recommend playing this course. Especially if you can get a deal from Golfnow.

Enjoyed the course and friendly staff. Interesting layout. Would play here again on my next visit. A fair price for this golf-starved region.

Excellent layout with tees to match your ability, pace was under 4 hours and although the greens were recently dressed they played fast and true.

Course was in pretty good shape despite the heavy rains the day prior. Some wet spots so it was 90 degree rule, but the course was not overbooked so we did not have an issue until late in the back 9 in terms of pace. Nice mixture of open layout holes and others where you need accuracy off the tee. Wind was howling so needed to hit the driver straight at tmes. 5 sets of tees make for a great challenge for all skill level golfers golfers. I hit from the ones right in front of the tips (golds) and my wife was often teeing off 100+ yards ahead. Great course for all golfers and you really can't beat the value despite being about 17 miles past the bridge. We had a great time!

Our family comes from Ohio and Pennsylvania and we dream about The Carolina Club year round. Course layout is like nothing we have played. 6,7,9,18 are fantastic holes. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful and always willing to chat. It's a 20 minute drive from the bridge, but prices are too good to pass up. Love it!

Loved this course. Staff was friendly and laid back (in a positive way). Well worth the short drive to get away from OBX crowds and high golf prices!

We had a great time!! Nice layout and great condition.

It had rained the day before so the course was cart path only except for that it was a great round. Bar was closed that day
