Average with Very Friendly Staff
Tee boxes for forward tees on many holes not level. Many tee boxes in rough shape with uneven stance, Fairways ok. Greens aerated prior week and sandy. Staff very friendly, Good value for a practice round,
Bad greens, spotty fairways, but potential.
This is a course with tons of potential. However, it is poorly cared for, at least coming out of the winter months. The greens are hodgepodge grasses with tons of patches and there is little advantage in playing from the fairway. Also, there is no driving range. Yet, I think this course could be fun if it was better cared for as it has a nice layout.
Not Bad For Fall Golf
Plating in November in 60 degree weather is a treat. The course still played well, despite it being late in the Fall. Greens are a little fuzzy, but that's to be expected this time of year. Overall...a nice, fun...QUICK round.
Great Time
I was a single and played with 3 nice guys. First time playing this course and enjoyed the play and challenges. No flat greens that made you think a little. Overall, all levels of players would enjoy. And a very friendly stafff.
What a Nice Surprise
I used to play Pleasant Valley a lot, but haven't for approximately 7 years...mostly due to the poor course conditions. However, I met a friend there this morning. We had no one in front or behind us (tee'd off at 9:15) and we walked at a nice pace--done in less than 4 hours. I was very surprised at the course conditions--the tee boxes and fairways were green and lush with no dirt spots. They were both a little long--just seemed they hadn't gotten the mowers out in a while. But, it was still very playable. The greens were also a little long, but rolled straight and true--just had to hit it a tad harder to get the ball to the hole. After playing, we went in to get something to eat. Wonderful staff who waited on us hand and foot, and wanted to ensure we were happy. Also met the owner (Susie) who was delightful and talked about addressing some of the concerns she received via feedback (i.e., hard tee boxes), so they are trying to improve the course. They are a small family owned course so they need support and not to be held to the same standards as corporate courses with large budgets. BTW, they have a Wednesday special for $36 breakfast, lunch and 18 holes of golf. What a deal! Their food is good and the course, although nothing fancy, is a decent layout, walkable, reasonably priced, and in good condition.
On one of the hottest, muggiest days of the year
My group has played this course dozens of times, so we know it very well. Considering the oppressive weather we've been experiencing, it was in its usual acceptable shape.
Lots of roll due to the lack of rain and fairly hard fairways. Back nine greens are typically hard and bouncy anyway, but we knew what to expect.
Overall, and despite recent rate increases, it remains a friendly course that gets a lot of play.
Good Course
It hasn't rained in a while and the grass is a little dry and the ground hard. I'm 73 and I had several drives 270 yards. Also had to play 1-2 clubs less loft since the ball was rolling. Greens in very good condition, slightly faster than usual.
Friendly staff but lack luster course
The course was not in very good shape, divots scattered throughout and we were not given sand to repair them. The tee boxes were rock solid, we actually snapped tees just trying to get them into the ground. Pace of play was okay, a little backed up usually waiting for someone in front of you. This usually isn’t a problem but we had a group behind us that shot into us 4 times while we were waiting for the green to clear. This isn’t really the courses fault obviously but could be something to be said about who plays here. Overall would not recommend but again the staff was excellent and they should be praised for that.
