Olde Point Golf & Country Club
About
Olde Point Golf & Country Club sprawls across a rolling landscape covered with mature trees, sparkling blue lakes, and meandering streams. Native vegetation is abundant across the gentle hills. It is a course that is both scenic and challenging. Built in 1975, it opened to the public a year later although members enjoy guaranteed tee times. The many water features all over the course come into play frequently and there are also strategically placed bunkers lurking beside the greens. The doglegs are no easy feat either. From the championship tees, the golf course is a formidable test that requires well placed shots but the three other tees provide a gentler game that is more approachable for beginners. In addition to the golf course, Olde Point also has a grass driving range as well as chipping and putting greens.

Not great
Course was in horrible shape, yo are better off hitting the ball in the rough than the fairway which has no grass. When you get to the turn we tried to call in our order but phone rings busy so had to live with a bag of chips because they were “busy”. Both golf carts we had were hit and miss with moving. At times it was quicker to walk than ride. When we turned them in after our round we told the person there that there was issues with the carts he said he knew, “ a lot of the carts are like that “. While the rate we got through Golfnow was relatively cheap, save your money and play elsewhere.
FAIRWAYS
Grass is coming back, but there were dead grass clippings in clumps all over the fairways, stopping your ball from a good roll.
Winter Golf
Overall my wife and I enjoyed the round. The course is in nice shape, the green’s rolled smoothly and quick. Playing again on 1/20
Slow play
Should hire a ranger/starter, there were three foursomes ahead of me, mixed with very slow walkers, I drove ahead to check it out, there was four holes open ahead of them
Overpriced for lack of simple things
Tee boxes werent cut in weeks, golf carts couldnt go up a slight grade, every other fairway has weeds everywhere, sand everywhere that isn’t a bunker. This course should not be anywhere near 44 bucks. This should be a course you play because it’scheap and bad.
Greens are like rough, fairways bad, course is in rough shape!
Classic track
Old school golf club, some really great holes …very Fun course to play and the staff is 2nd to none- highly recommend
It was okay
A lot of the fairways are dead with large spots of no grass at all. The tee box’s were generally overgrown and in rough shape. Greens were okay, I’ve seen better and worse in the local area. I probably won’t pay that much to play there again.
Winter Golf
Enjoyed a great day of golf. Winter/dormant conditions the course is in great shape. Greens rolled nice
Olde Pointe
We were met at Olde Pointe by a very friendly pro shop staff. Very helpful. Unfortunately, she had to be the messenger for a very strange rule. Only members can walk. And the reason was not because of pace of play, that made little difference, it was because walking on this course is considered a privilege that is reserved for members only. A rule we disagree with and reason enough for us to not return.
Additionally, the signage around the course warning residences, non-golfers, to not trespass or enter the grounds, seemed to make for an unfriendly place. Yes, many courses have similar messages but not so harsh. Lastly the course was not well kept. We saw no groundkeepers on the course. The fairways were in very bad shape; the forward tee boxes were horrible. I rate all of the courses I play (180 different ones in last 3 years) and this one on a scale of 1-10 got a five (5). Lower than most. I did hear a comment that new management was making improvements. Start with allowing the public to walk and making for a friendlier approach from management.
Played here over a dozen times. The course presents well, but the greens roll terribly, bouncing putts that go offline, even three footers are scary. Tree lined holes make it feel super tight on some holes. Plenty of wet spots in the fairway, that become mud. The pro shop staff can be nice and easy to work with or rude and uninviting, The pace of play is very slow in the mornings. They only let members walk the golf course
Olde Point bad
Greens awful….fairways awful
Doesn’t seem as though they care
Won’t play there again
Unfriendly staff
My husband and I, along with another couple played this course two days in a row since we booked in advance online. The first day we played the woman at the front desk told us since we only had two players and two riders, we were going to cause them to run out of carts. She let us go out, but only after giving us an ear full with her “bless your heart attitude”. Saturday we arrived and she gave us the same guilt trip. She told us they were running out of carts and that even though they have a rider fee of $8 she was going to charge us full golfing price for the riders. She then told us that we should play since we had to pay anyway. The issue is, when the course is so full that you’re running out of carts, to put two people on a course who DONT PLAY GOLF would slow the pace even more. That would be worse than being low on carts. Seems to me, if you’re low on carts-youre OVERBOOKED. The way she made little remarks and talked to myself and my husband was insulting. I have been to so many golf courses with him as a rider and NEVER had anyone say anything or give us a hard time about it. Ever! This woman went on and on about how we should never expect it’s okay to have a rider, etc. we paid the full price, because at 10 am on a Saturday, we had no chance of finding another tee time. This was not our first time at this course but definitely the first time I have ever experienced someone so RUDE. Be consistent with pricing and expectations of golfers and riders. Post it on your website if you want to charge riders full price, and for the love of god, fire that woman at the front desk. She was the rudest person I have ever encountered at a golf course. We will never return to this course.
