My return to Grandview
1st time in four years playing course, previous conditions chased me away. Front nine closed due to rain night before. Tee Boxes, Fairways and Greens are in good shape on the back nine (played twice due to flooding on front). Four Par 3's, two over 170 yards and two Par 5's provide opportunity to work on short and long game. With the updated Pro Shop, brewpub and value through GolfNow, I will return again this year to play another round or two.
Will never play this course again
My wife and I had a Noon tee time (hot deal). We got there at 11:25. There were 8 cars in lot and no one at the first tee box. We asked if we could tee off earlier. We were told your tee time is Noon through golf now. They were rather nasty about this and their decision was ridiculous since the course was not busy. Staff should be more courteous as they are recent new owners. Also hot deals have been moved from Noon to 7 AM on weekdays. What's that all about?
Excellent Shape
Course was in great shape. Heard rumors that fairways were not in great shape. Not True FAKE NEWS. Fairways were EXCELLENT.
Waste of time and money
The staff is rude... the Pro Shop employee has no sense of courtesy towards their customers, the course overall was not fun. You couldn't see the holes on any of the greens. The grass was soo tall it was unbearable. Grandview is a waste of time and money highly recommend not visiting this course. - very unhappy customers
Bad Owner
Showed up five minutes late for a tee time and the guy in the pro shop refused to let us play or give us our money back. I'm only 18 and just wanted to play some golf with my friends and obviously money is something I don't have a lot of right now. So to be honest I wouldn't ever play here again.
I didn't see anything major to complain about. I did find it hard sometimes to find the next hole, as the cart paths don't really connect to the next hole. But otherwise, there were no bare spots.
The grass was alittle long on the sides of the fairways and around the greens. I don't feel the grass should be higher than the height of the ball. Otherwise, very enjoyable. I'll be back.
Great 19th hole
I play this course because it's close to home and inexpensive. Not a fan of the layout, and there are some places - especially around the bridges - that the course shows it's wear and tear. However, the fairways were in good shape, and the greens were nice as well. A local restaurant has opened in the club house, with an excellent selection of flatbread pizza, and good beer on tap. I will probably play here more often just for the 19th hole.
Go someplace else
Went on a Thursday around noon. 8 cars in the parking lot. Planned on playing by myself and got paired with another. He was there to play by himself also which would have been better because he was about 20 strokes better than me. The were adamant about pairing us up which was odd because there were so few people in the course.
Layout of the course is weird. The cart paths seem to disappear and the next tee box is right next to the previous green, most were unmarked. Some fairways were a bit long and it was tough to tell where they started and stopped.
For the cheap greens fees and unwelcoming staff, I would probably play a different low budget course. This was probably the worst course I have played and I've played many in Harrisburg and York.
Course Conditions
Course conditions were very poor rough wasn't mowed in days. 4" to 5" high. The best thing that did come out of this is that they did give me two rain checks.
"Rough" course
This whole course, with the exceptions of the green is a rough course. No, not hard just every fairway feels like playing out of the rough because of the decision to not cut the grass. Hitting a ball in the middle of the fairway but still losing it because the grass is too long. Not mention the pro shop guy running out to fuss at us for not playing with a certain twosome who had just teed off while we were still 20 minutes early. Not going back here, even if it were free.
not bad for price
Course is currently being sold and going to be redone so the are not doing much till then and u can tell. Greens are fine but fairways are horrible
Where there fairways?
The fairways on the course were longer than the rough. Tee boxes moved up on the fake fairways. Ready to leave after 4 holes. Ehhhh refund would be magnificent
old style charm
my foursome likes this course, and it is a regular in our rotation. a good variation in holes and greens. has some wet areas, but very little paved cart paths, so no cart path only is possible. brand new restaurant and bar. also, the club house was being remodeled whilst we were there.
Great potential...
Course is under new management. I'm predicting this course will be the go to course in the future in York County. With some TLC it will be top notch.
Improving
This course I was told is being sold, and seem to me, it has improved since the last time I played it. Still has a way to go but seems heading in the right direction.
Great time at Grandview
Grandview is a great inexpensive way to enjoy playing golf. Greens are fantastic, rest of course is not the best, but still a great way to enjoy the game. I wish the carts were in a little better condition, but gets the job done.
Mixed Review
Grandview is a difficult to rate. The greens are top rate, albeit postage stamp size in many cases. The roll was mostly true and speed on the fast side, especially if you were above the hole.
Unfortunately the fairways did not exist, with little to no grass and rock hard. Often this gave 50 yards, or more, of carry/roll then you were expecting. How can you judge distances that way with mid irons or longer? The greens were so small that landing on them with long irons was very difficult to stay on the green for most amateurs.
The tee shots were tight at times but mostly fair. The sand traps were extremely odd being very long and very narrow as well as being deep. I did not have to play out of the traps.
Figuring out distances and were to play your next shot was a challenge, with very limited and/or hard to find yardage markers. On one hole, we had difficult times figuring out where the white tees were as they were split and hidden from the blue tees and around the corner from the red/gold tees. With fairways nonexistent for all practical purposes, where to play shots was not obvious at all.
The back nine have 3 each of par 3's, 4's, and 5's making it strange.
There is no drinking water on the course, so bring, or buy, your own. Pace of play was average.
Great Greens
Greens were practically flawless. Fairways a bit dry due to the lack of rain. Tee boxes in fair condition. Interesting layout with a stretch of 4 holes where 3 are Par 3s.
