excellent course for the value
good conditions, excellent value, fun layout, very playable, will play here again
They're still not putting their money back into the course
Since I got a really good rate through GolfNow, I thought I'd give this course another chance. The last two times I've played The Divide, it's been in pretty poor shape, but I was hoping that with warmer weather they'd get it back in shape. NOT the case. The greens had lots of bare spots and were VERY bumpy. The fairways were burned and there were numerous bare spots. Most tee boxes were cut very short and looked like they had not been watered. Golf cart paths are in need of some repairs as well. Don't let the look from the road fool you. The owners of this course are not reinvesting their money into course maintenance and improvements. Won't be back for a long time.
Great Day
Course is improving each time I play, which is about once a month.
Good layout, poor conditions.
I like the layout, but the course conditions are possibly the worst in the area. Many of the tee boxes don't have grass and are uneven. The fairways are ok, but around the greens, the grass is very sparse and chips are like hitting off dirt. The greens are a mix of bent, bermuda and poa anna. Each one is different and most are very slow. The bunkers are not raked or maintained. The creek areas are nothing but high weeds and plants. I attached a picture of the pond around #7 green, it's disgusting. It took 5 hours to play, which is painful.
The staff is very helpful. Jerry at the pro shop was great.
The potential is there to be one of the nicer courses in the area. They need to spend some money fixing up the course. It was packed when I was there so I know they are making money. Hopefully, things will get better, but this course has always been a little rough around the edges. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a challenge, but only because the price is lower than the nicer courses in the area.
Pleasantly surprised
The course was in very good shape compared to years past. The pace was slow this day due to 2 slow groups. A ranger would have been helpful on this day.
Course is definitely coming around. I had heard that it has not been in the greatest shape in recent years but the greens were not bad, a few divets in some holes here and there. They appear to be working on cleaning up the tee boxes that are mostly sand. Looks like they are headed in the right direction for sure, I will definitely be playing again this summer as it is an enjoyable course to play for a reasonable price
I have not played this course in a couple of years because the conditions were so bad. I found a "hot deal" for $12 so I decided to try it again. I was not disappointed. They really stepped up the maintenance with this course and the greens seemed slightly better than before. The rough might need some attention though, at some places it was hard to find my ball. But overall, satisfied with the course and happy that they have improved the course.
Course needs work and investment
It's a nice layout with friendly staff. Unfortunately, the owners/management are not investing money appropriately.
The. greens are in bad shape, and play very slow. The tee boxes often have no grass, and you get tight lies even in the middle of the fairway. Bunkers have loose dirt, not sand.
It wouldn't take much to improve this course tremendously, but until some improvements are done, it's not much fun playing.
Fun to play
I play from shortest men's tees. The course is much harder from longer tees.
Could be better
I have been playing this course for the last 10 years and it was in the worst shape I have ever seen it. I not talking about the greens, I expected them when I booked my rounds, but the tee boxes and fairways were in bad shape. On several tee boxes we were moved up (playing Whites), to make shaft boxes that were not even level. Fairways weer rough in some parts and good in others, but not up to this courses best. Hoping that it is because of the rain we had the past weeks and the course will improve as the season gets going.
Good layout, but in terrible condition
The divide is a decent track with some character but time has not been kind. I played here 15 years ago and the course was in great shape. Ownership and management changes have taken its toll. The range is a giant patch of dirt. The course is over grown with weeds and patchy at best. The greens had just been aerated and were in fair condition. The fairways and the tees need to be nuked and start over, just unacceptable, even for a cheap public course. Driving down the middle of the fairway is extremely bumpy and you can't tell where the fairway ends and rough begins. Be careful where u step since the course is over run with fire ant hills. And to top it off, 5 hour round. I cannot recommend this course.
