No Carts
Some parts of the course are super wet but in decent shape. they are not allowing carts out even if you paid for one via GolfNow.
Excellent course conditions for the time of year. Tried to charge a different price than golf now (probably forgot to change rate ) alot of intercom and yeling from ranger/ starter around the pro shop tee box green areas ..
Did not play
Booked for 3 with carts oil e thru golf now and when we got there sign said no carts. They said they sent out an email but no email was never received. I would like the fee back so please advise
Greens were terrific, but...
Very Slow play for a Thursday morning. 5.5 hour round. If the 4some in front of use took less than a 7 on any hole I'd be shocked. Saw Ranger on course, did nothing to move them along. Staff, per usual, a bit pretentious and focus highly on leagues and regulars and their needs. I was reminded why I don't play there all that often.
Blown Away
My First time at Triggs and I was blown away. First off the Layout is amazing and at 6500 yards is all the golf course even 1 handicap player wants. 6 par 4's over 4 hundred yards. It's classic Donald Ross for sure. And second the condition of the course blew me away. The greens were almost perfect. I love this place and can't wait to go back. An absolute gem, and one of the best if not the best muni in New England.
Donalg Ross Gem
The course is in great condition. The city is investing in improvements. This is a great layout!
On my list of favorite courses
The Triggs Memorial course is a Donald Ross design, city owned golf course. The layout is exceptional. The price is reasonable. Recent improvements to the course and facilities have made it an even better bargain. I enjoyed using the driving range to warm up. The pro shop was well staffed and helpful. The staff was friendly and outgoing. Their uniform polo shirts gave a professional touch. The club house staff was helpful in refilling my water bottle. My only suggestions are to add restrooms to the Pro Shop area ( currently golfers are required to walk to the club house) and add filtered water refill stations to the Pro Shop area and on both sides of the course. My group had an enjoyable day. We’ll be back again!
The Slow Course
Not much to say... nice layout, decent greens, but overall this place has gone down hill. It's now a great place for beginners, or the elderly. Not a place for serious golfers. There's a putting green but it has no slope, as opposed to the course which has huge ones. There's a range, but no net to the parking lot, so cars get hit... also cars get hit by the local criminals... so don't leave any valuables. Several of the traps are full of rocks so you can't hit from them or you'll wreck your clubs. Triggs is no longer a serious golf course.
Cool layout, tough course, worth $50 not $70 plus
Good fairways, CRAZY THICK ROUGH. Like maybe you find your ball maybe ya don’t. Enjoyed the challenge of NEEDING to hit fairways. Greens are big, undulating and fast with plenty people not fixing divots.so gotta plan to fix them yourself
Sleeper in the City
Great golf course excellent layout. Every hole has its challenges. Keep the ball below the hole.
Triggs Memorial
I live in the Los Angeles area in California. I was visiting Rhode Island and wanted to play a round of golf. I found this course on Golf Now and based on the ratings it already received...I chose it. Pleasantly surprised how nicely maintained the course played along with all the mature trees. Bunkers came into play and the greens were running true. The course is worth playing if you're second guessing where to play.
The course was really nice and the pace of play would have been better had I not been paired up with a 2-some that was only going to play 9 holes...who paid for 9 holes. That made my back 9 go by super slow being that there were several 4-somes in front and I could not play through.
In Good Shape
Surprisingly not busy this day - played in 3 1/2 hours.
Course in good shape and the 19th hole was great.
Greens are so bad
Awfully manicured course, the greens were dry and air raided. , it’s an embarrassment they charge money to play here
