varied layout
Laurel Lane golf course has a really interesting layout. Each hole is very different . Some tees are very high and you shoot down to the green and some are very low with your shot needing to be way up on a hill to the green, and several where you blind shoot over a hill to the green on the other side. Fairways for the most part are pretty wide , and there a lot of holes where you need to drive all you've got. I find this course quite a challenge especially the 18th !
Fun course to play
Am an average golfer and find this course to be a very enjoyable fun place to play.
Course is in excellent condition. Greens have just been plugged, sanded and coming in beautiful.
I highly recommend, it is a great value
So SLOW and No Starter
Yesterday's visit to Laurel Lane had to be one of my worst golf experiences ever. Two tournaments went out and I was behind the second. I gave up after 12 holes and 4 hours. Waited on every shot, no starter, no warning about slow play. A BIG disappointment. Won't be back on a weekend again.
Speed of play could improve dramatically if better yardage markers were available. Quite a few holes have no 150yd or 100yd markers? What's the point? Can't be that expensive. Spray paint the trees white/ red. Come on?!
Average golf course
Played here many times. Average safe play. Food was good. Drinks Over priced. Play golf and eat fine. Don't drink liquor too expensive.
Laurel lane
They had a tournament go off in front of us and started us on the back nine. We never saw anyone in front or in back of us all day. Very good round.
Good course for beginners
Can't complain too much for the price I paid. Front nine was slow, back was normal pace. Some holes do not have yardages, this made it very interesting. Most holes you have to search for yardage but on a positive, the ones you find are accurate. Front was a very open layout, back was still open but plenty of doglegs and blind shots, thankfully the guy I played with knew the course. I wouldn't recommend this course to anyone above beginner, not very challenging but if you're not scoring well and need a confidence boost, this is the place to go. It was very relaxing and I got to hit a lot of shots that I normally wouldn't hit, like an easy driver/strong 3 wood to the Par 4 #6 green to make Eagle.
great day
coarse great condition played with older golfer not to many gold tee boxes played from white. start time on time.
The course was awesome
Even though it rained a bit the course was gorgoies. Greens were kept, pace was good. The gentleman in the club house were truly great guys. HIGHLY recommend this course. Great for experienced golfers and golfers who aren't as good
adequate at best. minimal yardage markers. How hard is it to put a blue, white, and red stake on each hole.
Wide Open Front Nine Leads to a Narrow and Winding Back
The day started wet but turned out great. The front nine is mostly wide open in a giant area with a couple tight holes the sneak into the woods. It's very low-lying, tucked into the trees and with little wind, and the wet start to the day brought out a lot of mosquitoes. There was also some groundwork being done on a few of the beginning holes, the you might need to improve your lie a bit at the start. Once you get going, it's a really nice track. The back nine is tougher and cuts up and down, in and out, making it a challenge over the front nine.
It's off the beaten path and you have to navigate some back roads to find it, but check it out if you're in southern RI.
