About
Rose Hill Golf Club in Bluffton is situated amongst plentiful live oaks draped with Spanish moss. There are also sparkling, crystal-clear lakes that come into play on several holes. The golf course is a part of Rose Hill Plantation, giving it a truly Southern look and feel. Most of the holes are flat and straightforward but there are a few tricky doglegs to keep the course interesting. The layout features formidable par 3s that will test even the best players and a notably difficult par 5 that measures just over 600 yards. The challenging holes are balanced with player-friendly features that make it versatile enough for a wide range of skill levels. Four sets of tees, the longest coming to just over 6,900 yards, make Rose Hill Golf Club even more accessible.

Terrible course
Obviously they have let this one go. Greens are almost all gone. Terrible waste of money. Not able to use the HONOR code or my credits. The website would not allow it. So bad all around day.

1st time at Rose Hill
Staff was very cordial , Layout was very good but long. There weren’t too many easy holes. I thought # 10 was tge most challenging ( for me)
A number of the greens were in need of repair and a couple of the fairways were somewhat damaged by rain ( a little soggy).
Would play here again.

lousy greens
greens for the most part are BAD, some have grass that could be putted. lots of bare diet or weeds. Most tee boxes worn out. 18 holes 3,5 hours because we were onlly pair on the course!

The course is in very poor condition. They are working on it and by next year it should be better.

What could be …. isn’t
Appealing view from the road …. Gated entrance …. Good looking clubhouse … bag drop attendant …. Then reality set in.
The putting green was like off roading …. Hit the first tee and lots of dirt, fairways had no new grass growth and the green was almost unplayable. Thought it would get better. Nada. Every hole was the same but some greens simply had no grass around the holes.
The layout is great. Somebody put some money into this place and it could be worth the $$$.
If you do play bring your own drinks and grub. Nothing offered here.
Pretty disappointed for the money spent.

They are trying!
We checked reviews and first saw how everyone was talking bad about the conditions before it was bought out by new ownership. The staff is extremely nice! They brought the carts to the truck and loaded up all 4 of our bags. The club house seems to be very new and nice. The course has the potential to be gorgeous and amazing golf, however for the time being I wouldn’t go back simple from conditions. Maybe in a year or so after new ownership continues to revamp the course, I’ll drive by and see if it’s any better. Until the. I wouldn’t play it again. Great staff and one of the best prices in Hilton head. Just very very poor conditions of all fairways, greens ans tee boxes. Except for the 18th.

Greens aren't green
I played Rose Hill many years ago. Conditions were good at that time. I've always loved the layout. When I played it recently, I was extremely disappointed with the greens. Many are bare. The green fees were much more than the course is worth. $25 would be a fair price to play.

They are certainly trying to make it better
I wrote a review about a month ago; am sending a follow-up.
While the course has a very long way to go.....I want to commend them for the effort that are putting in to improve the Course.
Grass is beginning to grow, the Greens have been verti-cut, and sanded and sprayed....so there ARE things happening at Rose Hill.
They also have new metal signs at Tee boxes, that is a nice touch.
It will be a good thing if the efforts they are applying take hold...........when they do, I will review again.

No, course should not be offered to any level of golfer. Needs to be closed for total renovation.

The worse course we have ever played on
Conditions of greens are terrible, hard dirt and your ball jumps all over the place. We read the reviews but decided to find out for ourselves. The lesson here is take reviews seriously. $110 wasted dollars.

greens were poor. course layout was very good. if in a lot better condition many golfers would play.

Terrible condition
The greens were the worst I have seen. They were unplayable due to neglect and rot. Fairways weren’t up to the standards of any course in this part of the state.

Getting Better
We've played Rose Hill a number of times since 1/1/23 and find the course conditions are improving every time we go. The greens are still in tough shape, but the staff tell us there is a plan to reconfigure them with the new ownership, and that's good news. We love the layout and find it a playable challenge. We'll keep coming back.

terrible conditions
The greens were more brown and lacking any kind of playable putting surface. Not even a good practice green.
The fairways were okay to play and offered lots of room. Plenty of bunkers to make it challenging to navigate.
There was no food or snacks available. Lack of any kind of warning there is no lunch or snack opportunity before arriving or after arriving at the clubhouse to check in was a bit annoying. Hard to finish playing when super hungry.
