In need of lots of maintenance.
No putting green (being replanted/constructed), the starter allowed us to putt a few on the 18th as it was still early. Driving range tee boxes non existent, very narrow and under maintained. Most tee boxes on course in very poor condition, yardages on cart path are painted and most are not legible (maintenance again) . Middle of some fairways overtaken by weed grasses and not mowed. Greens weren't bad.
It was great for pace of play and level of difficulty for my son who is a beginner. The discounted fee of $47 each in late July on a Friday for this course left a bad feeling in my gut.
Nice course in a residential setting.
This course would have been really fun and nice to play on a sunny day. Unfortunately, due to heavy and constant rains, there was lots of standing water everywhere. In fact, we didn't even get to finish our round due to a huge rainstorm hitting us right after we made our turn.
The only real negative was the driving range being located directly along side the 10th hole!
I remeber this course as being in decent shape- I'm not sure what has taken place to result in a poor quality course
the course was in very poor shape- standing water in the sand bunkers; a few of the greens had equipment tracks on them; fairways need attention;
Good time had by all.
The greens were in great shape and Dean was very friendly.
Nice layout great greens
The course is a decent layout that is in good shape. The greens are in phenenomanal condition but be prepared for their speed. They roll very true, it is all feel putting, no banging the ball as they roll very fast. The par threes are challenging. They had a cart girl on a Monday which was the day we played which was good too.
The staff was friendly. We did not try the restaurant so I can not review.
Pace of play is ridiculously slow
Great conditions (fairways were great, greens were fast, a few tee boxes needed some more growth, holes freshly cut and painted) except a little water in some bunkers due to recent rain, but pace of play was solo slow that every tee had TWO foursome groups waiting. There wasn't a Marshall on the course to sped up play and unfortunately this isn't abnormal for Shadowmoss because they double-tee in the AM to get as many people on the course as possible.
Short track but it will demand shaping your shots....
Short track but very inviting to hit your driver in certain holes, and when you do,you wish you would've have hit your woods, overall it's a great deal for a well maintained course, can wait to play it again!
Proved to be laid out great and was Challenging.
Honestly wasnt expecting much..but was pleasantly surprised with the layout of 18 holes ..Fair yet Challenging..One point tho..They need Rangers to be around more..Got the Wescott feel there alittle..want starters on starting holes and be seen on the Turn.
Never end a course hitting near a parking lot and never put a tee beside a road!
These two problems are why this course only gets 1 star. I don't know how anyone can find this excusable. The folks working there were nice enough and the layout is challenging but I can't overlook having to tee off into on-coming traffic or the final hole approaching a parking lot on the right. Even the best golfer has an errant shot occasionally. I can't say I'll be back to this one.
Not the "fanciest"...
But for the money a really, really nice course. The facility is older and the out of bounds is typically right up against the residents property lines, but the course is in really good shape. Tee box are adequate and the greens roll true. Pro shop and on-course staff are very friendly and cordial. I will be playing there again!
Good value
I played Shadowmoss with my 2 sons. I'm a bogey golfer, my boys a bit worse. This course was good for what we were after, an enjoyable day of golf while on vacation that didn't cost an arm and a leg. The course was in good shape, though wet due to the recent storms. The course was challenging enough for us. Pace of play was a bit slow for our taste but not horrible. The group ahead of us seemed to be wandering around a lot for no apparent reason. All in all I would go back especially if it were wide open.
great local course
I played this course with my son and really liked it
Neither of us are scratch golfers by any means but this course was in great shape and plenty challenging for us all fairways were in great shape
will definately be back to play it again
Course is in pretty good shape for spring.
Pros: Ranger was very nice and helped speed the group ahead of us up. Course was in good shape for the time of year...no where is going to be perfect.
Cons: Even though we have not had rain in close to a week, there was water standing in many bunkers. Other areas had standing water, but it was generally not in play. There was no starter and groups were going out of order.
This course is layed out very nice, but the maintenance keeps it from being optimal, especially the greens which may or may not have been under repair
For the Golf Now rate, the price is very good, but normal pricing makes it too high.
Okay for the price.
The course is in okay condition. The tenth hole plays next to the driving range and there were about two hundred balls on the fairway and green. Clean them off, already! The food and beverage is extremely overpriced! 16$ six packs. 7$ burgers, no fries. Please
Great Deal
The course was well worth the price . The staff was very friendly and helpful . Greens and fairways were in great condition. Keep the pace moving well.
course was in great condition.
course was like wescott pack in as many people as you can.play was real slow 5+ hours.did not even finish last three holes.probably won't come back.
only course, of 4, with green fairways
Green fairways, green tee boxes, well maintained greens, I'd return in a heartbeat
Water hazards were not defined for first time players.
Met 3 guys from upstate sc and had fun. The day was super cold but gradually got warmer. The water hazards were not noted on the score which was a problem for us 1st timers. Over all we had a good time.
Good Course in the Local Area
Shadowmoss is a good course in the local area. It gets a great deal of play and is always in good condition. Holes water more than some course in the area. Great value. Pace of play can be a little slow because of the amount of play.
