Cheraw State Park Golf Course

Have heard about how good this course was for several years and finally made the drive to check it out. Was everything I had heard and more. Extremely friendly guy in the pro shop and the course was in great shape and had some really unique holes to make things interesting. Will definitely make the trip again.

Great value. Nice layout and course conditions. Greens are excellent. Bunkers are atrocious. I hear they are addressing this, hopefully soon. Don’t hit it into the dried mud and concrete and you’ll have a great time. Staff and clubhouse are outstanding.

This is an extremly nice course for the price. From Tee box to green, the course is well maintained. Grass in the fairways always posh. The rough on edges of fairway is usually well maintained, not too difficult to find ball if it is just off fairway. Greens roll very true and at the time of this post are 98% intact, with no rough or bare spots. Only reason issues with this course are that quite a few sand bunkers hold water for days after significant rain, and some are little more than hardpan. Extremely nice practice areas well maintained. For the price, this is a 4.7 / 5 star all day long.

Great course with no homes on the fairways. Course in very good condition with some bunker work needed.

The course was in amazing shape as always, me and my brother try to play here as much as possible. But the pace of play was horrible. Our tee time was at 9:56 and and we didn’t tee off until 10:25 because there was two groups in front of us. We decided to leave after 9 because of pace of play. The course and ranger needs to do better

The layout is great and most of the course is in great condition. Bunkers are not good. The course has redone some , but there is a lot of really unplayable bunkers. Still-,the rest of the course is so good I am okay with that. Greens were smooth and pretty fast.

Easily the best golf course I’ve played for the money. I will be back with others to enjoy the same. Greens, tees, fairways, all in great shape. Sand is thick and takes getting used to. Staff is great, but thin, at a very nicely cared for club. Nice range, chipping, and putting practice. Easily the best value for the money. Also, awesome views over the lake at strategic locations.

Played Cheraw for the 2nd time yesterday and was blown away! My only other round there was 4 years ago in the spring before the grass had fully come out of dormancy. I've wanted to get back to play in summer conditions ever since my 1st visit. What I found yesterday was a golf course so we'll manicured it rivals most country clubs I've seen/played!! The scenery/setting (for anyone who's ever been there) speaks for itself....just stunning. Greens, fairways and tee boxes were PERFECT! Staff are beyond friendly and accommodating. Living 500 miles away makes it tough, but I will make every effort to visit as often as possible!

I have played 100's of rounds of golf in the past 35 years. I am 68 years old and a 14 handicap. This course is a hidden gem, one of the best I have ever played. Just driving through the park to the course my jaw dropped in disbelief of how well manicured and groomed the course was...like something you'd see in a golf magazine or Travel & Leisure. Fairways were like carpet, and greens were fast and fair (no buried elephants). I drove 2 hours + from Raleigh and can't wait to return. Lastly, the driving range, chipping area and practice green were all top notch, too.

Course is in excellent condition besides the occasional washed out bunker. Greens roll true and fairways and tees are in excellent shape. Pace of play for a weekday was exceptional. I believe this to be the best value and also one of the best public courses to be played in the area.

Loved it first time playing it in 25 years but it was better than I remembered Green’s were excellent the whole course was great pace of play was average for a busy course I loved it and will be playing it again I just wish I hadn’t left my sunglasses in the cart but that’s ok

I drove three hours to play this course and was not disappointed. The fairways and greens were great, but must had some serious rain to trash the bunkers. I thoroughly enjoyed my round at this course and will definitely return.
