Fine But Better Options for the Money

Staff was great and course was in very good shape but other than that nothing super special about this course for $100. Would be a go to destination for $60 or so but overpriced for what it is.

A hidden gem in the Pinehurst area

For some reason I ha e always wanted to play this course and on our forth time to Pinehurst we finally did and we were glad we did. The course was in really great condition even though they had recently aerated the greens. Even though there was a lot of out of bounds on the course the fairways are fairly wide and it’s more of a shot makers course than anything else. The staff in the clubhouse was fantastic as was the gentleman who lead us to the first tee. With several bunkers to contend with off the tee you really have to be smart about every shot you hit on this course. I would highly recommend it to anyone going to the Pinehurst area as an alternative to the extremely expensive courses.

Go elsewhere.

I called the previous Thursday to review our reservations. We were going to play the 9-hole Azalea first, then the Magnolia. Upon arriving we were told the Azalea was closed for maintenance. They moved our tee time up 30 minutes so we were able to play the Magnolia early. No starter on the first tee. Now we know why. No one was out there because the course was in terrible shape. Many of the fairways on the back nine hadn't been cut for several days. It was like playing out of the rough at times. The greens had lots of ball marks and were not in good shape. For $160 we expected private course treatment and conditions. Avoid playing here. Take the 75 minute drive each way and play Lonnie Poole at NC State for $59 weekdays and $85 weekends. That was a great course.

Tale of Two Cities

This is an exceptional layout, well worth trying, however, the staff is of two natures.

The course is beautiful to the eye, fun to play and will meet your challenges when played at the correct tees...play to your legit handicap.# 18 is spectacular.

The staff was confusing, ranging from super nice, the initial bag folks to a fellow we met on the par 3, which is a must play, loads of fun, especially if you have a "group".

The course 'ranger" needs a serious lesson in "common courtesy" and "respect" for paying guests. We appeared to be the only group, 2 foursomes, and yet were scolded about being "behind our time", despite the fact we were delayed by the starter ? we were 'advised" NOT to stop @ 9, because we were a bit slow...there was NO ONE ELSE on the course ?? we finished in UNDER the 4 hour, 15 minute 'ready golf" admonition despite having 3 players who were 60+ year old, wounded vets !

Play the course...AVOID the staff !!

Elevation changes

I find this a little more interesting than it's sister course, the Magnolia. Playing either up hill or down hill makes it imperative to position you tee shots. Conditions were excellent.

Under the radar

This is a very good course that doesn't get much attention because its located in the Pinehurst Area. An enjoyable course with some great holes. Elevation changes add to this course with many challenging doglegs. It does allow some outside play.
