Northwoods Golf Course
About
Northwoods Golf Club is one of the Columbia area's premier public courses. P.B. Dye, son of renowned course architect Pete Dye, designed the layout, incorporating some of his father's signature features. The golf course is player friendly enough to appeal to any skill level but there are some challenges in store as well. Mature trees line most of the fairways and there are a few strategically placed bunkers that come into play. You won't come across much water on this golf course and it's not terribly long either. It's gentle enough for beginners to approach with confidence. The golf course's signature hole is the par-4 14th, which features the famous Dye railroad ties bordering a lake that hugs the bunkered green. Northwoods G.C. also offers a practice facility with a lighted driving range and putting green.

Great Layout
Was in town on business & was searching for a quick short notice round. Called the pro, shop attendant was super friendly & stated “c’mon, we’ll get you out there”. Upon arrival the attendant remained super friendly. The course layout is awesome! A mix of straight & dogleg fairways as well some long challenging par 3’s & elevation changes. Most of the tee boxes were good, a few needed some work. But, all were still very playable. The traps were filled with white sand. The fairways were in excellent condition. My only “gripe” if you will is the greens were super slooooow, putting on shag carpet slow. It appeared the greens had been aerated in recent weeks. . So, the greens should come in, in a few weeks. The back 9 is where the long hitters can shine. Overall the course is definitely worth playing.. I wouldn’t hesitate to play it again.
Course needs work
The greens were punched on the 2nd of June and they have a long way to come. Bumpy and slow and many greens have some bare spots and patch work done. For a course that redid their greens not to long ago I’ was pretty disappointed. The fairways and tees were pretty good as well as the bunkers but they need some serious work done on the greens. The cart paths continue to get worse and should be fixed. I know they are expensive but they are pretty bad. If I didn’t get a hot deal from golf now I would not have been happy paying full price for this quality of course. It’s too bad so many public golf courses are not maintained well anymore. With all the golfers the pandemic has brought out and the money coming in they should spend it more on the course conditions.
Course had a little drainage problem had a couple of greens that needed attention but rather than that would recommend cours will be going back
Greenspunched
Greens have just been punched ,but course is in good shape and Burke Cromer is best pro in Columbia !

Just an okay course, i guess for the price it was exactly what you expect. Staff was okay nothing to rave about. Tee boxes were in terrible conditions if not hitting a driver it was dang near impossible to put the tees into the ground. Greens were get inconsistently kept throughout the course. Fairways were well kept but cart paths were a little beat up. Didn’t hate it but didn’t love jt

Nice course with better than average conditions
Enjoyed this round on Easter Sunday. The head pro is a great guy and very helpful and wants everyone to have a great time. Course is in really good shape . Some areas are wet still but the course is much drier than it has been. I got a hole in one on hole #2 which was the highlight of my round!
Spur
I have played this course several times. The course was in great shape, the fairways are starting to green up. The greens are fast. I will play again.
Cart paths in poor condition, course looked nothing like online. Don't recall seeing a bathroom on front nine. Was same price at the course as on golfnow. Just felt course was a $25 to $30 course.

The Spur
The course was very muddy, it was cart path only which are in terrible shape. Several of the Tee boxes had a lot of debris. The layout is good if it was dry. If you want to play hear wait until it's dry.
