Witch Golf Club
About
The Witch golf course is situated between Conway and Myrtle Beach, S.C. sprawling across more than 500 secluded acres that are far removed from residential and commercial development. The peaceful setting is abundant with wildlife including bald eagles and deer. You may even see an alligator during your round. The Dan Maples design has a challenging but fun routing that is known for the tricky green complexes. There is plenty of variety throughout with a front nine that plays through marshland and a back nine that is routed across rolling hills. There are a few forced carries and some strategically placed bunkers but you won't find much water on the golf course. The fairways range from wide to narrow, and the well manicured, undulating greens roll fast and true. The Witch is a popular round on the Myrtle Beach golf circuit.

No one ever mentioned aeration.
Greens and tee boxes were in bad shape and aerated.Fairways and bunkers were in good shape, the pro shop and snack bar were decent and they had beverage cart running and hanfing out ice water facial towels. At $38 or more honestly just not worth it.
Punched greens/fairways
Place is a bit beat down. Was expecting more. Just punched the greens and fairways. Layout is pretty cool. Very small warm up area.
Nice, but slooooooooow
Nice layout, quick greens, well maintained. Starter said pace of play was four hours. Four hours after starting, my group’s on the 14th tee. Put a ranger out there to move these folks along, please.
wonderful layout
holes cut out of the woods and very interesting..
i hope this course survives because it's rumored to be up for sale.
Neglected
Beautiful layout in an incredible setting. Played here years ago and loved it. Still love the course but it has shown signs of neglect. The course could be special again but it needs to cut the over growth so you can see holes and fairways in spots and needs reseeded in many places. Once the greens dried out they pitted very nice.
Good Layout and Greens
The Witch is a good layout with a mix of holes that dogleg both right and left. The sightlines are tough on a few holes but playable. The greens are good, will hold a solid approach and speed was manageable. There are subtle breaks in many of the greens that made making putts a challenge. Heard this course was going to be turned into a housing development. That would be a shame as this is a good track worthy of keeping open.
Not bad
But then again, not great either. It's a decent course. This is the last of the Mystical Courses that I've played. The staff was outstanding, both inside and out. The greens were in decent shape, and the fairways were average, though I guess I expected better for the lack of use, with all the quarantine that's been going on. Will I go back? Sure, but I wouldn't put this at the top of my list.
In the best condition ever. Love paying here.
The greens are in the best shape ever.
The fairways are in great shape.
The tees are in great shape.
Everything is in the best shape ever.
Bewitching Myrtle Beach course
Unique Myrtle Beach course as many holes have rolling hills. Played many times and always in great shape
Course is in terrible condition.
The title says it all. The course was in terrible condition because of the winter weather. 3 greens where being re-sodded during our round and the maintenance crew would not even move off the greens while our group hit. This may have been a nice course at one time but every green was half-dead. I would not waste your money on this course until it recovers.
Peace and Gators
The rate is Local. The Witch is worth playing for a number of reasons. This is a South Carolina nature trail. No houses, narrow fairways. You will spend time just touring and taking photos. Wildlife is everywhere. If you go into the woods dont enter very deeply. The course is challanging. It was designed to reduce flood damage to greens and tees so most holes have elevation changes. Best played in absence of recent rain.
Pretty course but slow play!
The people in the pro shop were not very friendly. The first ladies Tee box had a big hole in it, no grass and was really lumpy! The pace of play was extremely slow with 3 and 4 groups on every hole... #6 we had 3 groups on the teenox and one in the fairway!
No marshals on the course to ensure a better pace.
The course is beautiful the greens are very slow. If you dont like a 51/2 to 6 hour round then this is not the course for You.
Great Course
The witch is awesome, its on a nature preserve and its as pretty a course as you can find in the area. Its 15-20 minutes from Myrtle and worth it to go test yourself. Friendly staff, great snack bar and course was in fantastic shape.
Nothing special
This was our practice round for our recent buddies trip. I’d sum it up as “meh.” Layout was alright, mostly tree-lined. Conditions were okay tee to green, but once on the greens there was considerable winter kill, which turned out to be the case with all but one of the courses we played (TPC). Clubhouse seemed “worn out” — nothing REALLY bad, just kinda tired. Biggest “negative” for me was the cost — $65 was too much for the quality of everything. Yes, hot dogs/chips/beers came included but it was still too much money IMO.
Wicked
Course is challenging. Back nine winds through the trees slightly elevated areas. Front nine winds down the the boggy marshy areas. Saw a few gators on front nine. Front nine seems to have been damaged somewhat from the hurricane in 2016. But is recovering nicely. Still wet in areas though.
The Witch Wasn't Wicked
Played the morning after a torrential downpour so the course was soaked, car path only. I found the front much tougher than the back with a few long 4's. All the 5's were 3 shot holes for me with a couple doglegs to manage. The par 3's were all mid-iron for me which is muy bueno! Greens were punched a week ago but they weren't terrible. The course requires some shot making and there are some carries over marshes. I found the layout to be nice. There's gators out here so be careful by the water and bring some bug spray or get a dryer sheet(had heard about this on line somewhere and I'll be damned it works!) from the pro shop. i'd come back. Fun course to play.
V Cool.. V Fun
We played this in early June as part of the Mystical Deal... great package.
Being from up North, the course style was different to us. I liked that every hole on the front was almost entirely secluded. Saw some gators.
I really enjoy courses with very diverse front and backs, and this was just that.
Staff was extremely friendly... but coming from Philly we're not tough to impress...
Really had a blast here and looking forward to returning.
DON'T DO IT !
I am group leader of a group of 20-25 golfers that come to Myrtle Beach every year for a four to five round stay and play package. After continuously hearing how great "The Witch" is we decided to get the Mystical package which include Man O War and The Wizard.
The Witch is a good layout, the course, is in bad shape which all the employees blamed on the grass transition from winter to spring etc. The cart path and I mean all of it is terrible, absolutely , all of their cart bridges are falling apart. The clubhouse hasn't seen a paintbrush/carpet since being built I'll bet. It has trees and plants growing out of the gutters !!! The small outdoor deck has outdoor carpet, it was torn everywhere and was blown up against the seating because it is no longer glued down. We had to pull it off to sit down. Nice staff, a real dump !!! The Wizard & Man O' War much better courses.(fairways and greens) Man O' War played twice I think 4 traps might have been raked, grounds crew dragging water hoses on the green while we waited in the fairway. All the cart bridges falling apart patched with plywood. Beautiful views from the Wizard and Man O' War Clubhouses but zero outdoor deck or seating, no liquor license at any of the three just beer. Every clubhouse has carpet that smells, stained, holes etc. Couldn't sit in the Wizard after our round 77 degrees and they had no windows open, no handles on the windows. Like a greenhouse with musty carpet. At every one the 19th hole is virtually non existent or a hole in the wall !!!
Windsor Green Villas with Mystical package. Dated worn carpet in all. Shower didn't work in mine on day 1. Repair man removes washer from kitchen sink to fix shower and then sink leaks all over the counter. Change the name to The Mythical Golf Package !!!!! Very nice staff, villas were convenient to restaurants/ bars. Not many good things to say.
