This is user friendly
We enjoyed the course very much! We had not played a round of golf this year so this was a good course to play..... Wide open fairways with nice greens, very user friendly!! Well managed, worth playing!
Just ok for the money
Course is well kept.. For the money you pay you would expect diagrams on the scorecards. Just an ok course
Challenging layout.
Course was in very good condition. Very nice club house with fully stocked merchandise. Temperature the day we played was 100 degrees. Staff was very friendly. Starter did an excellent job of giving us tips for playing the course. He did tell us the pace of play should be 2 hours each side. We had three groups backed up on each hole most of the front nine. Back did open up a little but still took nearly5 hours to finish the round. Very nice practice facility.
Save your money
I thought this was an over-valued golf course. Just because someone meets you in the parking lot with a golf cart to assist you does not mean the course is upper-echelon. The sand traps had overgrown grass on the edges of them. Course is very flat and not very creative. For $100 I thought it was not worth it - especially when you couls go across the street and play a better course for less money.
Always on of my favorite OBX courses
I play The Point once or twice a year when I visit the Outer Banks. I usually take guests there to tune up for some of the more challenging courses in the area. It is a "gentile" course, moderately challenging but fun to play. The course has matured nicely over the years. It is a very flat, relatively open tract with a lot of local vegetation. The overall course is in very good shape and the greens are in great shape. Considering I played on the 4th of July week, at the height of tourist season the pace of play was pretty good and well marshaled, which helped a lot to keep pace up. I would recommend The Point and it's sister course The Carolina Club to anyone visiting the OBX.
They are both very well managed and maintained course.
Great alternative to barrier islands courses
Staff met us with carts in the lot as soon as we pulled up. Very personable Starter. Marshall cruised course but didn't nag.
We booked this to ease into our play for the week. Open, more forgiving course than the barrier island courses.
Beverage cart was well stocked but didn't come by after 4:00 - need to address this.
Fun afternoon.
Best I played in OBX area
Thoroughly enjoyable. I played 3 courses in OBX area and this one was the best!
Lovely course
The Pointe was very nice- the people were friendly & helpful-I played through Golfnow.com. & got a very reasonable rate. I would not have payed $99 for a round here. I understand it is near the beach but coming from an area with hundreds of nice courses, the Pointe would not be in the elite division. Having said that, I still enjoyed my round & would play if I come to the outter banks next year.
nice place
it's has been 9 yrs sense I played it was a a little tough on me but would recommend if you are in the area play it.
Short and safe.
We got shuffled ahead to a ttime 10 mins before ours which would be ok except we had bought 2 buckets of balls and hit a handful. 3 groups waiting on 1 was a sure indicator of how round went. 2 girls in a cart kept making beer runs for the group in front of us when 6 people weren't putting for fun on greens. Didn't matter 3 groups on 18 summed it up. Greens were bumpy but good considering late afternoon. Layout is fairly short. There was a 400+ par 5. 120+ par 3. Almost all approaches were gap wedges. Bottom line $59. Get what you pay for.
Nice course for mid to high handicap players
The A1 bentgrass greens are a delight to putt on. Straight forward layout. Course in good playing condition. Short yardages will give your long game a break even from the back tees {6200 yds}.
Excellent course
I played at Nags head golf links the day before and The Pointe Golf Club blew that place out of the water. You don't get the views of the ocean on this course but if you are a serious golfer, it's hard to beat this place. The greens are bent grass at this course and they were absolutely awesome. Good speed and very smooth. Fairways are well kept and course presents plenty of challenging and fun holes. Highly recommend this course
Must Play in the Outer Banks
We were in the Outer Banks and wanted to get a round of golf in during the week. For the money The Pointe had the best reviews, and this course did not disappoint. Extremely friendly and knowledgable staff. The course was in excellent condition and very fair to play. We will make sure this is our go to course the next time we vacation in the Outer Banks.
Nice Course
Greens were is excellent shape. They rolled well and held approach shots. Several of the greens had subtle breaks. The wind (generally a two club wind) made the course play tougher. Most holes are very forgiving off the tee. This course is a must for your visit to the Outerbanks.
Very Nice Course
We didn't pay the full price sincerely we booked it through Golfnow but it would been worth it. Everything was in great condition. I'll definitely play it again the next time we are here.
Friendly
When we got there there was a back up on the 1st tee and our tee time was looking like we were going to be 20-30 late but the staff got us out on the back 9 to start. Then they held the 1st tee on the turn for us and we were done in 4 hours. We were able to watch the Preakness. Thanks
Fun course to play
Great putting surfaces, ame landing areas off the tees, minimal rough....well stocked golf shop, very friendly staff
Impressive!
Great course. First time playing this course but not our last. Highly recommend this course if you are visiting the OBX. Great staff. Top notch course. Meticulously maintained.
Awesome wide open course
Course is in great shape for early spring. Weather was sunny, dry and cool. Greens were fast, fairways were dry and wide open with a few water hazards. The pro shop was helpful and had some great deals. A must play on your trip to OBX.
Very Nice Experience
My wife and I play the Pointe a couple times a year. Always worth the 65 mile trip. The weather was rough this winter and the fairways are a little behind but a couple weeks of warm sun and a little rain will bring them back. The folks working at the course are quite friendly. A golfer friendly course with some challenges but you need to keep the ball under control or the course can bite.
