Village Greens Golf & Country Club
About
Village Greens Golf Club sprawls across over 100 acres of what used to be farmland situated between Inman and Gramling. Remnants of the old farm can be seen throughout the course, including pear trees from the original orchard that line the 10th fairway. When the golf course was built in 1969, many new trees were planted but much care was taken so as not to obstruct the view of the Blue Ridge Mountains, providing nearly every hole with views that stretch from Glassy Mountain to Chimney Rock. The layout has a classic design that is playable for a wide range of skill levels. Sparkling lakes and ponds accent the landscape, coming into play on a few holes. Village Greens Golf Club's most memorable water hole is the course's signature sixth. This short par 3 features a semi-island green that is surrounded by water on two sides, along with three bunkers and out-of-bounds on the right.

Course needs work
The winter really took its toll on this golf course. Several holes had fairways completely devoid of grass. I expected dormant grass but not hard pan .
There were wet areas due to water washing over the fairway.
Early in year - grass is not coming in yet.
Try to play here a couple times a year. Got here a little early for this round. Really nice when course is in shape. Give it a little bit and this is a great place.
greens like lightning
The greens are dormant bermuda and extremely fast. Plus the holes were placed near edges and on a number of holes if you got more an a foot or so past the hole it rolled off the green. I putted it off at least three times and I am a 4 handicap. If you were above the hole you could not get it to stop anywhere near the hole even if you just touched the ball. Also they need a course map on the card, there are a number of blind tee shots and on a few there was reachable water across the fairway.

Hi, seg1415. We would love to hear more about your 4-star experience on our course. Please tell us what we can do to earn that last star, and thanks for golfing at Village Greens Golf & Country Club!
Pace of play
If village greens would fix correct tee times on golf now and on there website pace of play would not be so bad. It’s only when you have people online and through golf now book the same tee time that the problem arises. I also don’t appreciate when I go to the starter with the time I booked to only be told “ you’re late you should have been here 4 minutes ago” when I was right on time. Don’t try to cover up a businesses money hungry mistake by throwing to blame on the customer. Take responsibility and don’t have your golf course over booked 7 days out of the week. A round of golf shouldn’t take 6 hours.
Have played VG at least once a year for a long time. The course and greens were in great shape!
Great Course Friendly Folks
Greens were excellent. Staff was very nice. Pace of play just right.
Great course
Grass has came great and the greens are fast as lightning. Staff is always pleasant. Challenging but fair.
Good condition for the value
Village Greens always has great deals and the course, although not as nice as some of the private clubs in the area, is typically in decent condition. The fairways tend to be a little sparse especially in the shaded areas, as well as the greens being a little rough in some places. But overall the greens roll nicely and have good speed for the early spring when temperatures are still cool, and the fairways are solid enough to get the job done. I would recommend this course to anyone looking for a good deal in the Spartanburg area.
Great value course
This course was great at this price point. Because of the weather, the course was relatively empty. Moreover, the grass was somewhat dormant due to the winter chill. The greens were in great shape, and the bunkers were well-kept. The fairways were cut nicely, and there were not many spots with standing water or bare portions. The layout was fun and moderately challenging. Some tight fairways and a lot of water to make you think about your shot. A fun way to spend your time if you're in the area.
