Good Traditional Layout
Found myself in Greenwood on a Monday and thought I'd get in a round at this George Cobb classic. It was a compact course with the holes somewhat tightly grouped. Except for the wet condition from earlier rain, it was in great shape. Some of the greens on the front had poa annua issues but otherwise the Bermuda was fast and true. I played as a single and never had to wait so the round was quick and pleasurable. The person in the pro shop was courteous. The food service was not open on Monday.
Look forward to playing again when I am back in the area.
Really nice older course.
Greenwood CC was previously a private member only course. Now semi private its a great place to play. The members take great care of the course and expect the guests to do the same. Can be cart path only if rains have been recent. Some of the best putting greens you’ve gonna play. No 12-13 stemp but I’d say 10-11 normally. A few challenging water holes starts with the 2nd a par 3 playing 145 to 200 so no place for fear of water. Built in 1927 it’s definitely a gem for its age.
Great course , very good condition
Really enjoyed my round here. Very good conditions, especially for February. Eager to play again in the spring , worth the hour drive
Fun layout
Haven’t played Greenwood country club in many years but this course remains a challenging and fun layout. The greens were excellent: smooth , true and fast. The only negative I could think of was the fact that it was “cart path only”. Not sure that it was wet enough for that restriction. Wish they had been water or drinks available on the course. Otherwise, a great day..
My friends first time here my second.
Course is in good shape all around. Pay attention to make sure you go to correct next tee box. # 5 or # 8 small signs are there to direct you but we saw some issues especially if first time there. Great ole school course. Mike in the Pro shop was Great. We will go back probably next April.
Evaluation of Our Round.
The course is always in excellent condition, the staff is courteous & helpful, & the price was very good for the weekend.
Very Friendly people and Great layout
First time playing here and was first out this morning. Obviously being first out pace of play was Awesome. Course is in good shape. Very fair course. This being my first round here - I was glad there was not any crazy holes or blind shots. Drive the ball well and you will be in position to score. Pro shop was VERY friendly and so was the maintenance members around the course. Very good challenge and fun place to play.
Wet fairways
The course is in pretty good shape. The tee box and greens are good. The fairways are really wet which hurts distance. Great course for the money.
Beautiful course
Love playing this quite peaceful course. Great value .
Slightly above average
I’ll start by saying that overall I had a good time here. That being said the other reviews are accurate, the staff are JERKS. The only way I can describe them is “angry that they’re in business”. But that wasn’t too much of a deterrent as dealing with staff was only 10 minutes of our day here. Range is forgettable but the putting green and short game area are nice.
We played from the tips and overall the course is pretty challenging. The par threes are particularly difficult, they are very long and many have water. Not a narrow course by any means but placement is key on most holes.
Greens were incredibly dry when we played so reading putts was worthless, speed varied between greens and breaks were impossible to predict. Positioning on the greens is extremely important, stay below the hole. We had no trouble holding the greens, if anything it was difficult because we got too much spin.
All and all, for the money it’s a fine enough course if you’re looking for a decent way to spend an afternoon, I would recommend going once. That being said, half the holes are a bit boring and we drove an hour to play so I wouldn’t go again, but pleased with the experience.
