Reviews
There is nothing attractive about this course.
This course is very narrow and houses on both side of fairway. It gives you no room for mistakes. You must hit your ball as straight as possible. Also the ground is hard as cement. You can get under your ball. Difficult to chip when the ground is hard like rock.
Nice course, still improving
This was my second time playing Rawls Creek, had a good time. Sure the course needs some attention, the greens have a few bare spots and the tee boxes are as hard as concrete, but the fairways are kept very well, rough is mowed so stray tee shots are usually playable. After our round, I chatted up the staff, there are plans in the works to improve the greens and tee areas. I will definitely play here again.
`Very short , but tough
When I saw the score card and the yardage, I said this is going to be a piece of cake. But the course is a shot makers course. Not a lot of flat lies, and driver isn't club of choice on half of par 4's. The par 3's are long, but fair. Good course
the course has been greatly improved from its manicured fairways to the well kept greens.
I have not played this course since its was named Coldstream. Back then the course was not well maintained and in need of an upgrading. Now Rawls Creek is the same layout but a much nicer course to play. The fairways are covered with luscious green grass and the ruff is manicured to a manageable level. Only a couple of the greens were partially unplayable. I played this course once or twice a week in the far distant past. It was great to come back and play an old friend who opened her arms with a very surprising and wonderful welcome. It was as peaceful as in the past to play this once again beautiful lady.
This course is on the upswing
Rawls Creek has recently come under new management and is definitely on the upswing. They've stopped having as many deals online, so the value is not there like it was a year ago, but they're putting that money back into the course so I can't complain. The course is pretty green now, way fewer dead spots on the greens than 1 year ago but still lots of weeds messing up the grain. All in all, Rawls provides scoring opportunities and some fun holes if you're accurate off the tee. If you're like me and tend to hit the ball very far and somewhat errantly from time to time, bring plenty of golf balls or prepare to wander through people's yards...
Yhis course is for locals only
I arrived at the course 30 mins early as requested by Golfnow. I checked in with the desk clerk , told him my name and Tee Time, and ask if I was going to be paired with anyone. His response was no, he had no empty spots, Now I booked this spot on a 1or2 golfers only. Then he told me that I needed to go off right now because there were 12 groups getting ready to tee off. So after teeing off with a 4 sum in front of me and a 3 sum coming to the tee box. As I was getting into my cart from my second shot a ball came flying by me,. mind you I was about 50 yards out on a 290 yard par 4. After I putted and got off the green, went to the next hole which is a par three and the 4 sum was still on the green. I waited and the 3 sum behind me waited about 10 yards past the first green with no effort to communicate with me. And that was just the first hole, it went down hill from there until the 5th hole when the 4 sum finally let me thru. So in my opinion if you are not a local to that course don't bother unless you a 3 or 4 group. They have no time for single Golfnow patrons trying to group up with players.
Short Course with great par 3's
Very short course. Only around 6,000 yards. No real challenging holes but the par 3's do feature large elevation changes.
Course requires strategy and shot making off the tee to have a good stance and line to go after flags.
There are a lot of hills on this course making you play to spots to ensure a good stance and line to hit greens. Fun to play. Some fairways could use more maintenance.
The Club @ Rawls Creek was good play for the price
The tee boxes and greens were in rough shape. Some of the tee boxes were mostly dirt with very little grass. The greens were extremely grainy and there were bare patches in some of the greens. Overall the value through GolfNow was worth it but would never pay full price to play at this course. The course has some great potential and pretty nice looking holes but course isn't maintained very well.
Hard Greens - Hard Fairways - Makes for hard Day
Course needs attention - Grass in fairways poor at best - greens splotchy, but roll fast - Greens will not hold any shot - very hard. -Played for $25 and was a OK deal - No way I would pay any more.
Not bad for the money
Staff was a little rude... seemed mad that we booked on GolfNow
Consistent, but worn greens, fairways just grass
Cool layout if you enjoy shaping your shots but the fairways and tee boxes are shotty. Greens are weirdly designed but are very consistent. Overall I'd only play there again if it was really cheap
The course was well cut and in overall good shape
This course has some great holes. It requires the golfer to be able to shape both left and right shots in order to have a good look at the green on the second shot. You need to stay in the fairway in order to enjoy the round due to the number of houses and yards near the course. This is a great value when using the golfnow.com discount.
Don't Do It!!!!!
Course is in pretty bad shap overall. Not worth the price of admission!!!! Not even close......
Perfect day
The only thing that made the day better was the gorgeous and friendly staff member Amanda. What a Wonder Woman!
Great Value but fairways needing grass growth.
Greens were in good shape, but they were slow since they were not cut. Greens were receptive though. Only thing I would say was the fairways were pretty bare with the bermuda grass still dorment and no overseeding was done. Bunkers were groomed well.
Pass on this one
Course runs up and down hills with doglegs throughout. Short by modern standards. Conditioning is poor - fairways were in bad shape with weed issues, greens were decent but with obvious signs of water run-off back to front making putting through 2 distinct "greens" (hard / dry on back, soft / wet on front) tricky. Little value for money - play once for the experience then head elsewhere for better golf.
Great greens
Remember, this is a public course. Greens were fresh cut, and fast. Not a lot of divot marks. Fairways had some ground under repair, and were challenging. The ball always rests above or below your feet. If you want to improve, play this course! O....they got new golf carts also.
TERRIBLE
Thats right. One word describes this course. ""TERRIBLE"". The course lis in awful shape. Fairways are like playing on concrete. My cart had a flat tire. In general it's a terribly managed course. I have played a number of courses in the surrounding areas that are way way way better shape than Rawls creek. If they think it's worth $45 bucks to play this course they are out of there mind. I wouldn't pay $5 to ever play here again. Take it from me. If you are in the area play golden hills or cobblestone. Don't waist your time or money playing here. Thanks
