The Golf Club At Star Fort
About
The Golf Club at Star Fort sits near the site of a Revolutionary battle known as the Assault at Star Fort. The golf course offers a family-friendly layout surrounded by the region's rich history. The player-friendly design is gentle enough for junior players and beginners, but it's also great for more advanced players who are looking for a quick round. It will surprise you with a few challenges too. At 6,952 yards, the golf course isn't terribly long but there are still some good driving holes. There are some interesting risk-reward par 5s and some fun par 3s that will make you think. Star Fort's final hole is a par 4 that requires accuracy over distance since you'll have to weave through two ponds before facing an uphill shot to a well bunkered green.

Great old course layout
Played as a single, encountered several four and fivesome, all let me play right through with hardly any waiting.Pro shop guy was really nice, and as I was a single and several groups were teeing off on the front he had me go off the back, this was probably why I played a less than four hour round on a Friday on a fairly crowded course.i only wish it was closer so I could play it more often, but I will definitely be back as I had good experience.
The Fort
Course was a little dry due to lack of rain lately. The greens have a lot of poa annua grass making then a challenge to putt. With new ownership these problems should get taken care of soon.
poor pace
we had a fivesome in front of us who were slower than molasses on the green on every hole. They must have been playing for big money even marking putts less than a foot. Course itself greens were in bad shape, fairways cut to short with many bald patches.
Good Course
Good course but grass is cut to short. Ground extremely hard. Play was very slow
Course is under new management and definitely looking alot better than last year. I will definitely be back.
Great to play in January
Had a wonderful time with my buddy playing some golf in January.
Terribly Slow
They allow groups of five and six to play. This causes long hold ups on each tee.
If you like long rounds of five or six hours on a Friday this is the course for you.

Not worth what I paid
Ground was super hard, greens were covered with leaves, greens were impossible to read and fast.

Awesome hidden gem to enjoy some friendly golf with your friends
Hidden Gem. Course in great condition. Cart Paths Need Work
Great course. Fairways, bunkers and greens in very good condition which is what really counts. Looks like bunkers have been worked on recently - much improved compared to a year or two ago. Couple of the tee boxes were a little hard. Ponds are looking scummy. Cart paths have been and continue to be in poor condition. Either requires repaving or just make them all gravel. We were a fast playing twosome and got behind a slow foursome. They seemed oblivious to their slowness and that we were always waiting. I finally asked, when we got close enough, if we could play through and they reluctantly agreed. With an infusion of $ (fix cart paths, improve tee boxes, clean-up ponds and add some landscaping) this course could be excellent - it's very good as is though. Play Star Fort - you won't regret it!
Will be Back
Friendly staff, good pace of play, course in good shape!
It Is What It Is
If you are a golf snob who only plays private clubs, you may not appreciate Star Fort.
If you just love golf you will love what it offers.
Visiting from a private club in Florida, we had a family foursome looking for an enjoyable morning round and we definitely got it. We arrived just as the pro shop opened and checked in without delay. The staff is super friendly and helpful, but most striking is that were extremely “real.” No corporate scripting, no condescension-we were treated like a neighbor and that was great. They asked us politely to rake traps as there was a professional tournament that afternoon. The course itself was in good to excellent condition-fairways had some weeds but were generously wide, the greens rolled true and were fast-but-not-too-fast which accommodated all skill levels. The traps had thick, heavy sand that we weren’t used to, but it simply forced us to adjust. Pace of play was great and the layout offered a good mix of challenges.
There is no starter nor ranger and as has been stated many times, the cart paths are atrocious. If you insist on a posh course-you may want to rethink your plans, but if you want a good course at a great price run by really nice people, you will have a great day at Star Fort.
Thank you for taking the time to review and leave your feedback of your recent round with us. We would like to apologize for any inconvenience you experienced at the course with us. Your feedback is extremely important to us. It is always our utmost goal to provide our golfers with a fun and enjoyable time and apologize if we missed the mark. For further resolution in this matter, please feel free to reach out to our staff in the pro shop. We hope to hear from you soon!
