Great value
Got a noon tee time for $30 on golf now. Course was wide open and in great shape despite a ton of rain this week. Will be back again.
Terrible pace of play
Image you are playing on a picture perfect day, no clouds, high 70's. You go to the course and first off, have to park on the road. You go check in, you are told that the course is 30 minutes behind. Heck no problem, go to the range get loose and then play. Well, I go back to the first tee 5 minutes after your time, and they are rushing you off. What about the 30 minute delay? Why didn't someone come to the range and get me? Bad start ad it did not get better. One of my playing partners left after 5 holes. I joined up with a twosome in front of us at the 7th tee. Finally done with the front nine, 3:11 hours. Outrages!!! Only good about the day was the young lady in the club house who gave me a rain check for nine holes without any hassle. Really like the course, but they need to work on the pace of play.
Probably March was not the best time to play this course, but the course condition was pretty bad. Bare tee boxes, hitting off dirt in many places in the fairway, very wet around the greens with little grass in the approaches. The greens were "lumpy" so no true rolls on the balls. May try again later in the year when the grass wakes up...we'll see.
Nice Golf Course
I played on a very windy day (20+mph). the course was in good shape, especially the greens for early March. The layout is good with the exception that there is very little level fairway. And be careful if you hit long, you can drive through several fairways with 250 yards turning a great drive into a water logged ball. But a very good and somewhat challenging course. The greens are quite undulated making them challenging but that is the way I like it. I want to play the slope rather than having to hit through it. I will definitely go back.
Okay Winter Round
This was the first time I played the course in several years, and it remains the fun and varied layout that made it one of my favorites back when. It is in okay shape for March. The greens were in good shape but the fairways and tee boxes were not quite as good as some of the other local public courses I've recently played. However, I'm sure I'll be back again when the real spring arrives.
Great Shape for the Season
Played Waterford yesterday. The fairways are in great shape and the greens are great. Looking forward to getting back.
Course layout
Course is set up for you to work the ball and keep the ball in play.
Good Time with Friends on rainy day
Course continues to get better with new owners.
Best greens I've played this year
Greens are fast and true layout great , price top's !!!!!
A starter at the first tee would have saved a lot of time for the afternoon tee time start with the limited amount of sun, this course has been improved so much since I last played it , the only negative are the cart paths
Staff/confirmation
Staff had a negative attitude of Golf Now,also could not find confirmation, lucky I had mine. But beside that a good golf day.
Waterford Golf Club
This was my first time playing Waterford Golf Club and the last of the former Carolina Trail courses that I have played. Waterford is interesting in several ways. First, you have to travel through a industrial park to get to it, which was a first for me. The parking lot and clubhouse are understated, but the staff was very friendly. There is a practice green directly beside the clubhouse and a driving range a couple hundred yards away. The carts were clean and fairly new looking.
This course was designed by Hale Irwin and opened 19 years ago. It features bermuda fairways and miniverde greens. Many of the holes feature blind landing areas where you cannot see your tee shot land. Course knowledge would definitely benefit one in navigating their way around this course. There are also many subtle doglegs, be it from the tee shot to the approach or from the lay up to the approach on par 5's. All of the bunkers were well maintained with bright white sand.
The course is not easy from tee to green by any means, but the real challenge is once you get on the greens. Most of them had pretty severe slopes and it seemed that just about every hole was cut into the side of one of these slopes. That combined with the speed of the greens (FAST!) made putting quite an adventure.
Overall it was a good course that was in good shape. It was a great value for what I paid to play it on this particular day, and I will be back at some point to play it again.
Fall Golf
Greens were in good shape
It had rained hard the night before so we played back nine first this did not detract from the round .We all agreed it was a v enjoyable day and good value.
Nice round, beautiful view
Course in great shape. Played at our pace. beautiful late afternoon views - see pictures. Rough nicely mowed, but difficult to play out.
Course playing well
The wife and I played on Labor Day, and under 3 1/2 hours! (Very woman-friendly here). Course overall in very good condition although some 'roughs' were very rough and we lost a couple of balls just off the fairway, but we found over a dozen of others' balls.
And must reiterate on the cart paths!! Brutal in many areas!! Build some low wooden bridges over the worse ones.
Cart paths
The course, greens/fairways were in the greatest of shape. No problems or complaints there. The Cart paths were broken and very rough. This needs immediate attention ..the course is fully aware of the cart path conditions and I believe or been told that is the next major project for the course.. Great course and will returning many more times. We even saw two deer on the course.
Much improved!!
Played this course several times this year and before this last time I would not recommend it, but the course has rounded into great shape. Greens were particularly smooth when a couple of months ago they were in rough shape.
