Average could be better
Good fairways, good greens, traps NEED sand. They are hard dirt and little sand in them. Everyone including Wednesday men’s league toss their balls out of the traps. This course probably makes a small fortune at the driving range. They should plow some of their profits into buying sand for their sand traps. Then it would make it a legitimate course for tournaments.
Pace of play varies greatly at this course
Punched greens
Greens were just punched, wish I had know that before the round. Other than that course is great
Not the best
We had to play the back nine twice because no one informed us that they were punching the greens on the front nine and the staff said something about Giving us a credit or a partial refund, but heard nothing about the inconvenience and we had to play the back nine twice so it was very packed pace of play with Slow.
Poor Condition
Still no sand in any bunkers. Course is dry very dry. This is the driest it has ever been in May in ironically the most water available year since course opened. Many grassy areas left to die. Pitch and putt recently removed as well.
Poor and Slow
Bunkers are worst in county. Carts are beyond poor. Slow bro golf.
Fun Layout.
This course has a fun layout with several water hazards in play. There is a variety of hole shapes to keep things interesting as well. Course is flat but far from boring. Overall conditions are average. Greens roll fairly true at a medium pace.
Fairways still have a number of thin areas throughout the entire course. Fairways had enough coverage to present a decent hitting surface but that’s about it
Tee boxes were all in good condition with only the short par 3’s being heavily riddled with divots.
Bunkers remain hard pan dirt. Great customer service and POP was on the slow side I attribute it to a nice sunny day and everyone was trying to get their “weekend” golf in. Can’t blame them. The track isn’t worth a special journey to Bakersfield for but certainly worthy of a play if in the area
Fairways still hard dormant Bermuda so no good lies in the fairway.
I like the layout of this course and the greens are in pretty decent shape although today they were not cut and were slower than normal. The fairways are pretty much dormant grass that is very thin and hard ground underneath. Frankly would rather be in the rough to hit from. On the plus side the ball rolls along way in the fairway.
They are to punch greens a week of March 6, so probably won’t be back for a couple weeks and hoping the grass begins to grow again before we play this course
Poor course conditions
I have played this course more then a hundred times and the conditions on the fairways were poor at best and a lot of hard pan on the fairways. Sand traps were devoid of sand and were unplayable. Greens were in good shape but fungus was apparent on quite a few of the greens which made putting from parts of the greens a challenge. Riverlakes conditions have deteriorated to a point where we will not play this course again.Charging premium fees for the course conditions they had was not worth it. It used to be a great place to play.
Moguls & traps
Hit it straight and you’re in great shape!
Left or right it’s trouble especially the bunkers deep and dirt..no sand!..tee boxes were great, greens were slopy and very fast..but overall it was fun and challenging
