Crystal Lakes Golf Course
About
Crystal Lakes is a municipal golf course located next to Dillon Park in Sumter. The course originally opened as a nine-hole course in 1989 but expanded due to popularity. It offers plenty of challenges but it is a course that will reward good course management and strategy but it is not overly punishing if you're errant off the tees. The course quickly introduces you to its challenges with water hazards coming into play on the first five holes. The opening hole is a tricky par 3 that has a unique peninsula green. The rest of the par 3s on this course are no easy feat either. Crystal Lakes may not be the area's most challenging but it is one of the best values in a destination that is known for its golf.

Like the layout
Good course for the price we paid. Seems like they are working on it and trying to get it in better shape. The back side greens need some work. We will go back.
County Horse Tracks
Drove 2 hours to play Cobblestone , needed a course to play at before heading over to Cobblestone in the afternoon. You pay for what you get . Clubhouse was okay. Got asked if I was from around the area, told em no. People on the course not wearing golf attire , Tboxs ok, plenty of dogwoods, fairways / roughs needed to be cut. Greens were slow on the front ( heavy due) , greens on the back were okay. This is your typical 20 dollar course.
First time
The front 9 was short for me I played the tips .I hardly pulled my driver out except for the par 5 holes the back 9 was more challenging you can definitely tune up your long irons on this course the fairways needed to be more manicured the areas around the greens had to of grass it was like playing out of the rough. The back 9 had a few greens with bare spots but you could move your ball and still play the greens the front 9 greens were slow the back 9 greens were fast .Definitely a decent tune up course
Course is improving…
This year They have been improving the course. They built a nice new entrance, built a new parking lot with new sidewalks and they have been really improving the greens especially the back 9. The greens are a little furry at times but overall condition really good especially the back 9, the cups can be a little rough and overgrown edges at times. For the price this is a fun place to play it can really test your accuracy. Highly recommended.
Solid Course for the cost
Thoroughly enjoyed my time out there. If you’re not in the fairway it can be tough to find your ball. (I take that as a good thing) only 1 or 2 greens have a few blemishes and spots they’re obviously battling. Overall, had a blast and nothing beats it nearby for the price. 10/10 would suggest. I played with rental clubs and still enjoyed it lol. Also, tell the owner/head guy to greet customers and do the front work just as much as the back end work.
Affordable Golf at its finest
This municipal course is an affordable place to go and enjoy a round. It is not overly difficult l, but does have a few really challenging “over water holes” that could test your patience.
Fun course
ITS TIME FIR WATER JUGS ON GOLF COURSE JTS 85 degrees today , every other course I played this month has water and cups , sand trap takes !!!!! Nice née parking lot !!!! Open it up !!!!!
Slow Pace of Play
We quit after 7 holes. It was just me and my wife and the foursome in front of us would not let us play through. Course was in rough shape too. Never again Chrystal Lake.
Good for the money
Great course for beginners and working on you game. It’s short but allows for club selection if you working on things. Nothing bad to say and staff is great
Good course for the $$
The course had a descendant layout. It was fun to play the city course and see how they are working on it. Overall you get what you pay for and it’s right on track. It is a great start for beginner golfers.
Golf with family
Took my wife and 2 grandkids to play golf. The staff was friendly and helpful. We had a great time together trying to play the difficult game of golf. Would recommend the course go all.
Great for the price
Not the best fairways or greens could definitely use some work. Overall a great place for the money and a beginner golfer.
