Creekside is easier than Lakeside at Pebble Creek GC

Pebble Creek Golf Course is a great place to play golf in Taylors SC (only about 15 min. drive from downtown Greenville).

Two courses:
(1) Creekside is public and $25 at time of this writing (green fee and cart)
(2) Lakeside is private and $35 at time of this writing (green fee and cart)

NOTE: If you are from out of town, and ask the Golf Pro, they will let you play Lakeside. It is the harder course so if you haven't played in a while you may just want to play creekside.

I really enjoyed Creekside and it is a bit shorter and easier from the forward tees (compared to Lakeside). I prefer the back nine (which some may feel is harder but I found it more interesting).

You can walk the front nine of the Creekside course but the back nine is very far - per the cart attended - it is a 1/2 mile ride to the 10th tee from the proshop. So if you play 19, take the cart.

A few things about the back nine. On the 10th Tee you can see Paris Mountain in the background. The 11th tee there is a pond on the right (you can see it clearly from the forward tees but I think it is a blind shot from the back tees). From the forward tees, feel free to aim for the pond because the tee is elevated and it is an easy drive to carry the pond). There are a lot of holes where you need to hit left and it rolls right (or visa versa) but it is fairly obvious from the tees.

Play this course if you are visiting Greenville - it is a great value.

The Creek and Doglegs make this Course Interesting to Play.

I was staying at an Airbnb condo on the 18th hole of the private course (Link Side) at Pebble Creek. I went to the course and asked if I could play the private course. They were very nice and accommodating.

Side bar: There is also a public course called Creek Side.

The course was enjoyable. It is very hilly and goes through a number of neighborhoods on both sides of the main road so I would NOT recommend walking the whole course.

The creek will make you think about your decision on many holes. The creek creates the greatest challenge on hole #1 because the landing area is approximately 20 yards wide and slopes down to the creek. If you try to hit it too far right to be "safe" your shot could kick of the hill and roll all the way to the creek. So, your drive needs to be accurate!

The creek is also interesting on the 18th hole because you have a choice to cut it close to the right and go over the creek or go left and then go over the creek on your second shot. It's longer from the left so I guess you could call it a risk/reward decision.

There are a number of doglegs and you may want to drive you cart ahead to see the best place to land your shot. The doglegs are not difficult but they do make the course more interesting.

The greens were in good shape and fairly easy to read. The Golf Pro gave me a tip before I started which is that the greens do not break as much as you might think when you read your putt.

I gave the condition of the course 4 stars because it has been very rainy in Greenville and so it was very wet. I would be interested to see how it plays during a dry spell.

Overall, you will enjoy the course if you like a quick pace of play. I had the course to myself early in the morning and played 18 is 2 hours and 40 mins.

Not sure why this is showing as the Creek Side course because I selected Lake Side. So this review if for Lake Side.
There is another review for Creek Side.

Fantastic!

This was my first time playing the course and I was impressed and enjoyed it very much. One in our party had a coupon so we all played for $20.00 a man (fantastic deal). The course was in excellent shape and we almost had the course to ourselves (we teed off at 2:30 PM) so the pace of play was excellent. Staff was very pleasant and friendly. The course does have some elevation changes but nothing so much as to prevent you from playing well. I am a big fan of Tom Jackson designed golf course and this one is very nice also. I will be back to this course and would like to play the private course for members also. Go play Pebble Creek and you will enjoy it also!

demanding greens

The course layout is interesting and provides a nice variety of holes. Large, undulating, greens require good location of your shot to avoid the dreaded 3 putt. The fairways had good body; the rough was appropriately penal; tee boxes were a little chewed up. With four sets of tees, there is a comfortable distance for all skills. The distances from greens to tees and more especially from the front to back nine make this an arduous course to walk.
