Decent Course
Saluda is my hometown course. I enjoy playing here from time to time, even though there are nicer courses around. They have recently lowered their rates, which makes it a better value. The course is challenging at time, but the par 3's are relatively easy and the par 5's aren't that difficult. I always have a great time playing at Saluda. The course could use some work, but for the most part it is in pretty good condition.
One of my favorite courses in Greenville area.
Always in great condition. We played 18 and then played 9 more for 7 bucks. Payed $20 a man for the 18. Great Day and Great Friends!
Great value
For the money, this course is a great experience. Closer to Greenville than you think, and great pace of play.
Several greens in bad shape.
The course in general is a good challenge to the average golfer. However when we played many of the greens were choppy and very rough. They looked like the mower was malfunctioning! Fairways in good shape. A couple of tees in bad shape. The course has a good grill with fair prices.
Great deal
Course was in great shape.Staff very friendly and helpful. Open layout. Not too tight. Great challenge but not too difficult for the average golfer.
Great course, especially for the average golfer
Saluda Valley is an excellent bargain. The course is perfect for golfers who are "decent" but not great. Most holes have wide landing areas and the greens were in excellent shape. The clubhouse staff was friendly. This course is worth the drive from Greenville and surrounding areas.
Excellent Fairways. Greens Plugged around 1st of August.
Great public coarse. Greens slow due to all the rain washing away sand after greens were plugged. Fun coarse to play.
wonderful track - challenging from the tips, not a dull hole on the course.
The greens had been punched a week before - so the greens were a little bumpy. They have quality greens that typically run true - so not a biggie this time. The back nine is my favorite on this course - winds back through the trees, interesting layout. You can score well if you can place the ball, errant shots penalize - but do not kill a round.
Nice course!!!!
This is a nice challenging course. And with the discounts of golfnow.....you cannot beat it!!! Food is good (had hotdogs all the way) and water on the course is ice cold!!! My wife and I really enjoyed our round and look forward to going back!
Really liked the course
First time I ever played Saluda Valley. Nice course. Greens has been fertilized, but were rolling true, but a little slow. Cours was fair, Some target golf, but a lot of holes with wide open space. I will definitely go back. Pro was courteous and friendly. Nice clubhouse with nice facilities.
The course was in great shape, however the driving range leaves a lot to be desired.
The greens were plush and the fairways were incredible. The only thing I would recommend is to warm up at another driving range if you normally warm up with your woods (like most people), as the driving range at Saluda Valley CC is irons only. The practice putting green plays true to the course greens.
Will be back
Would have been done under 4 hours but there was tournament ahead of us. Course in great shape. Will definitely be back!
This is what golf should be, FUN.
Not overly hard and not too easy. This course had just about everything one could ask for in around of golf. Decent par 4s, solid par 3s and par 5s that were fair. I would heartily recommend this course for the beginner as well as the seasoned golfer.
Good value...fun coarse.
This course is a good value for the money. It boasts a good mix of difficult holes and scorable holes. The front nine is the easier of the two. It has more open fairways, so, you can swing away. The back nine has more dog legs and tighter fairways, so, ball placent is much more important. Both nines have narrow greens making an otherwise less difficult course more difficult. Once you have played a few times and know where to place the ball, this becomes a very fun course to play.
Pros: fun to play, surprisingly plush fairways for an older course, I've played every public and semi private course in the Upstate as well as many of the private courses and I would say they have the third or fourth best greens of all of them, I've never been aggravated by seeing or hearing grounds keepers during a round
Cons: as it is an older club, its not the most aesthetically pleasing, the fairways and greens are in tip top shape but the rough could use some help as some areas under trees are without grass...pine straw would help.
Overall a fun playing experience on some of the best, true rolling greens you'll play anywhere.
easy to like this course
I find this course to be easy on some holes so that it will lull you into a false sense of ease before it pounces on you on some of the par 3s and 5s. But overall I enjoy playing here.
this course is very well maintained
this was a very pleasing course to play. the other patrons on the course were very freindly and polite the course itself was very well maintained and in very good shape.the greens were very receptive to the approach shots and the putting lines were true. i would recommend this course to anyone who enjoys the game of golf.
Good value ,challenging,and friendly.
Saluda Valley is a good course for all level golfers. Some holes for the long hitters and some for the not so long. Fair in that it is not set up to make every shot have to be perfect. Condition is good and well maintained. I enjoyed it very much. Will play there again soon.
The course is in great overall shape.
After many years, I have started playing this course again. I always enjoy playing the course, and it is in great shape. Thanks for including it on the GolfNow website.
Tricky greens
The course was short but in good shape. The hole lay out was average and not very challenging. The par 5's were reachable in 2 if you have a good drive and can hit a 5 wood. The greens held when hit into but had heavy roll and a little tricky to read. There was only three placement shot holes the rest were very open. If not for the tricky greens this course woud be a very simple course
Good layout, would play again.
Very open, little water, greens are in great shape and fairly fast.
