Reviews
This course is in rough shape
This course is in poor condition. Fairways are clover and crabgrass. Some greens are burned out. If this course had some money spent on maintenance it would be good course. I would stay away from this goat track.
Unexpectedly Great!
In the days leading up to my tee time at Spring Lake Country Club, I had been reading reviews that weren’t so great. That being said, DO NOT believe those reviews. The course is absolutely beautiful and is really well kept. There aren’t too many divots at the tee boxes and the greens are very nice. The only holes where the greens were a little below par were holes 14 and 18. The fairways were well kept, stay away from the rough. It can be very hard to find your ball in the clovers. For the price, this course is an insane deal. By the way, I haven’t even mentioned the carts. The carts are amazing! Very nice leather seats along with a lot of cup holders and ball holders. Lots of bells and whistles that I really appreciated. The pace of play is a little slow, but that’s mainly dependent on who you get behind and if they can find their balls easily. The clubhouse is very outdated, but they have plenty of drinks and food for you at the turn.
Overall, I’d say if you’re in the area, play at this course!

Greens in poor shape
Greens were 1/2 grass and 1/2 sand making it impossible to make a true putt attempt. Well designed course though and overall, I enjoyed the beautiful day.
HOME AWAY FROM HOME
Best place to play for me outside of Charlotte. Not too far from the house, and the course gives you old school vibes with the clubhouse, but you start off with a dog leg right par 5 over water from the jump, then a downhill 200 yd par 3 next hole. The back 9 is pretty open and Hole 13 at almost 550 yds or so makes you want to pull your hair our (if you have any lol). But I keep coming back because of the price, the challenges I face on the holes and its never really super packed, so the pace of play is pretty fair out there.
Just Not Good
So much work to be done at this facility in more ways than I care to name. One and done and slowest round I have played in a very long time.
Rude Staff
Very rude staff, also made us play with random people we did not know. When asked for raincheck due to pace of play from other players, they said they can't do it because reservations were made online. Not worth the ride out to york
Good for knocking off the rust
Nice interesting layout, pretty open, but enough trouble to keep it interesting. The greens will ruin your round if you can't putt on fast, sloped greens. Greens were in excellent shape, traps were in good shape and those needing sand had new sand waiting to be spread. Would go again, interested in seeing the course once the grass comes back to life.
Not ideal
I check on this course every few years or so. Still the same old horse pasture it has always been. Staff is always extremely friendly and helpful. No range balls, sand all over the greens, and multiple fivesomes (yes, 5) taking 20+ minutes per hole on a Saturday. Played 12 holes in 4 hours before we left. Course should be charging around $20-25 given all of the above, but definitely not worth the $35-40
Terrible!
They just aerated the greens so they were putting on sand. They started at 12:45 and they had a five some in front of us a foursome in front of them. I want some behind them in front of us and we were paired up with a foursome, and then a twosome behind us on a Saturday that is ridiculous. We played a three hour front nine and had to call it quits or would be there till 7 PM which is ridiculous look elsewhere.
