Fun and Challenging Private Course
This was my first trip to Brookings Country Club since I was a college student here in the 90s. And it's so much better than I remembered!
Brookings Country Club is an older club on the shores of Lake Campbell, about 15 minutes southwest of Brookings. Holes 1 and 2 run along the lake, and you can see the lake from holes 17 and 18, as well as from the clubhouse. It is a very picturesque setting for a golf course.
The most interesting holes on the course are the holes that work around the outside of the property, using the slopes created the lake and then a lower area to the east. These slopes create some fun and challenging golf holes. The holes running back and forth (6-16) across the high plateau of the property, while still fun and challenging, are less interesting due to being mainly flat.
The condition of the course is immaculate. The greens are probably the truest I've putted all year, and I've played some really good golf in 2019. They are firm and fast, but if you get a putt online, it holds its line and will find the bottom of the cup.
While many of the holes are tree-lined, the trees are spaced and maintained as to allow some freedom of play. Every time I was in the trees I was able to advance it towards the green, and occasionally even get it on the green.
If you can get a tee time, the Brookings Country Club is a must play! I'm looking forward to getting back there again sometime soon.
My favorite hole is the par 4 second hole. Depending on the wind, it's a drivable short par 4, but you have to take on a huge risk to go for it. And with the lake to the left it is very easy on the eyes.

Semi- Private course along the lake Must Play.
This semi-Private Club is just over 6700 and plays some great fun shots for the 18. Several holes are drivable and can provide some great fun opportunities if you try and reach from the tee. Course has a great club house and restaurant that is a great hole 19 after your round. I prefer to walk this course however most people tend to ride.
