Relaxing Time
One of my favorite courses in the area. I've played at plenty of "nicer" courses and those are great as well but Brevofield always feels right. It's a fairly easy and open course, especially on the front 9. Pace of play can be slow at times but in general it's not too bad. If you go mid day on a weekend you kind of get what you expect. Pro shop is lacking but when I'm here I just want to play 18 with some friends and relax, and that's always what happens.
Good for a beginner golfer
There was essentially no fairway or rough. Everything was cut to the same height. Not in terrible shape but somehow a bit wet after a week of clear weather. Play all day is a good value.
Seasonal Imperfections
Just a typical public course that is a little better than a manicured cow pasture. Unfortunately the greens had all been aeriated and sanded, which nobody mentioned, so the putting was less than desirable.
I am glad I glad I not pay more than I did or I would have complained loudly.
This course has so much potential if someone would just invest in some course elements instead of just mowed grass.
Aeration In Process
Normally, I like playing Brevofield. Today the front nine was closed for aerafication and GolfNow did not show that information when I made my reservation was made. You can play Brevofield in less than 3 hours. It took almost five hours today. If I had known that the front nine was closed, I would have played elsewhere.
Shaggy Tees
This is a wide open country golf course. Greens were cut long and slow, but they're bent and this is North Carolina in September. The tees were really shaggy which made hitting irons on par 3's difficult and woods drug on the long grass on tee shots. Tees were about the same length as the rough. Great value, nice people, and a good course for beginners or someone who wants to knock it around in a wide open field of play.
Brevofield
All around good course. Some of the greens on the back 9 need some work. This course is the main one I play because of price and how close it is to my house. This is a really good relax and play course.
Great Play for your $$$
Brevofield is a fantastic place to play golf. Well maintained and puttable greens. Would def recommend this course to anyone that is looking for an inexpensive round.
The only downside is they have a poor selection of food. Pre-packaged sandwiches and candy bars. Would be nice to have outdoor seating and a grill.
Play All Day for one low price.
Brevofield
Played from the blues if you can find he tee box . The mark outs were there but the grass was very high and not cut for some time . Might as well teed it up in the rough . Fairways were in great shape and all but 1 green was in great shape ... A great little course in a very quite little area it appeared . It's short but fairways are very hilly and many shots above and below your feet . I'd play it again though . Would recommend it for your bogey golfer or newer to the game "or seniors " who don't have to worry about hitting it so long .
Fun Experience and Great Value!
I hadn't played this course in 3 or 4 years but I'm glad I finally came back. The staff has done a wonderful job with the course. They have been smart with how they've maintained the fairways and greens. The fairways are a little long but it's nice to actually hit out of lush green grass compared to hard dirt at most area courses. The greens were a bit slow but they rolled true and had very few poor spots. This is a great course to gain some confidence on, it's short with plenty of opportunities to make birdies. Really enjoyed the round and can't wait to play again!
Good for High Handicaps
Short course, well kept. Greens typically roll slow. Fairways in good shape, tee boxes weren't too bad this time around. Has two really challenging holes, #10, a 215 yard par 3 and #13 a dog leg right par four. The rest are pretty wide open and reachable including a reachable 215 yard par four on the front nine. Folks are friendly, pace of play was slow for a Monday.
Fairways were nice
I have played a lot in the past and had been disappointed with the fairways, not the case today. The fairways are really looking good and the greens would be great if people would learn to fix their ball marks. Not the most challenging course you'll play but worth the money.
Not Bad
Little pricey for what you get but its a decent course and fun to play. Strategic bunker locations. Make sure and know your ranges. Touchy greens. Good experience. No beer in pro shop. Be sure to pack some if you want something besides water or soft drinks.
Laid back afternoon full of golf!
Brevofield is always our 'go to' course when we want a laid back round. The fairways are wide, the grass is kept low, the woods along the side are cleared of most underbrush for going after the ball that 'got away'. Today (a Thursday afternoon) the course was empty and we were able to finish a round in 3 hours so we went ahead and played a second round! We love playing here. It's not a high-end, manicured course but it is a great place for a relaxing round. The sand traps are limited and what they have are packed down .. so not very challenging. The greens are kept in decent shape and for the most part are flat with just one slope ... nothing crazy. The fairways are on the longer side so you can get in some good drives. Overall a great day!!
Fun Course
Staff friendly. Pretty reasonable rate. Fairways in good condition. Greens played well and matained well. Could use a ranger to manage speed of play.
Overbooked!
I enjoy this course. It is a great value and I play it frequently for practice. However, I don't think they cap the number of tee times they will book on any given day, resulting in some serious crowds on days with nice weather. Played this course on Sunday and waited in line 6 groups deep to tee off at the first hole, with another six groups behind me by the time I reached the tee box. Actually reserving tee times rather than booking 12 groups at the same time would go a long way for the enjoyability of this course.
Fun course
Enjoyed this course, greens are in great condition. Front nine fairways are open, but beware on back nine lots of tight fairways.
great deals... fun course
Wide open fairways for the most part. Still I sometimes lose balls here. Greens mostly in good shape. the 12th hole was closed for maintenance however. But the deals make up for it. I played all day for $15.
Great Beginner Course
As a novice golfer myself, the course is open and not too long. Greens are in great shape, but the tee boxes definitely need work. Finished 18 riding in 4 hours even, would have finished earlier if the course wasn't packed. I would return for another round.
Great practice corse friendly staff
Great practice course can work on your game. I play this course when I can close to my home.
...
course was in good shape. Greens were soft. I've played this course probably 15 times over the past 5 years. Always a great value. Front 9 is wide open for those of you who like to play your slice. Lol better tighten up on the back 9 though.
Yep ... Sunday afternoon was really jammed up here and took us 4.5 hours to finish our round. I try to go during the weekday afternoons if at all possible, when a round can be done in 3 hours.
