I love the layout of this course but the pace of play is terrible
This is a beautiful course with a lot of fun holes to play. But the pace of play is slow. And this is caused because they over booked it. You always feel like you’re rushing rushing rushing. Because there’s always people behind and front of you you have to wait for. If they didn’t book people every few minutes it would be much much better. You can feel like you could enjoy it and keep your rhythm and keep warmed up for the next Tee off . Instead you’r constantly being harassed by the Ranger or you’re waiting 10-15 minutes for the next three groups in front of you to go forward . They also watch you constantly through binoculars for any little misstep in the whole environment you feel like you’re being harassed. I’ve been booking this golf course less and less over time
Nice course but they schedule too tight
Is it really a very nice cars to play the air always being pushed along. Rangers are all over the place in your to slow. so you hurry up then you waiting for the people in front of you. If they didn’t schedule Tee off times so close together than you might be able to enjoy the course and not be reprimanded all the time
Played 18 with two great people
Fantastic day for a round of Golf with a good friend and one new friend
Terrific Midwest Muni
Growing up in Rapid City, I played Meadowbrook a lot. In fact, I've probably logged more rounds at Meadowbrook than any other course. But, having not played it in 15 years, going back felt like seeing it for the first time in a lot of ways.
First off, Meadowbrook is in great condition. It gets a lot of play, but the greens are fast enough and roll true. They could be a bit firmer, but that's a nitpick. The fairways and tees are in great shape, and the sand is consistent.
Meadowbrook sits in the Rapid Creek flood plain, so it's about as flat of a golf course as you'll find in the Black Hills. But the course is laid out so that it uses what the land gives it. So Rapid Creek comes into play multiple times. Well placed huge old trees make you think, without crowding. And finally the green complexes are well bunkered, and the greens themselves have enough slope to be interesting.
One thing I had forgotten about Meadowbrook is how challenging the par 5s are. Through a combination of doglegs, water hazards and well placed trees, the par 5s are true 3 shotters, which is a rarity in golf courses these days.
I had such a great time at Meadowbrook and I'm thrilled to recommend it to anyone visiting Rapid City. You will be hard pressed to find many better municipal golf courses!

Had a blast
It was a hot day but we had a blast golfing. Course was moderate and not too difficult.
Fast Greens
In good shape.
Greens had some roll out.
Traps plenty of sand.
Freshly mowed.
C'mon people, fix ball marks!
Nice Round
Course is in good shape.
Recently mowed.
Sand in the bunkers.
Friendly staff today.
Greens on the fast side.
First time at Meadowbrook
Extremely nice course. Greens were amazingly in great condition. Rough was thick and lush but very challenging and fair. Staff is very friendly. We definitely will play again.
