NICE GETAWAY
GREAT VIEWS, CAROLINA 9 HOLES NOT IN THE BEST OF SHAPE, TRAPS IN BAD SHAPE. THE DOGWOOD SIDE WAS MUCH BETTER
Fun Course With Lovely Views
I played the Dogwood/Blue Ridge nines at the resort. The Dogwood course is fairly tight (the par-5 3rd hole in particular) yet fair - ball placement is key, particularly on the aforementioned 3rd, 6th, and the sharp dog leg right 7th. There's also room to stretch out, have some fun and hit driver, particularly on the short 321-yard par-4 5th hole. The course is very short, but don't let its lack of length fool you. The same can be said about the Blue Ridge nine, and although the fairways are a bit more open than the Dogwood nine, elevation changes abound, particularly on the par-3 2nd and 5th holes, which require careful club selection to avoid going too long or short. The par-4 4th hole plays at only 359 yards, but the tee shot is all uphill, with a sharp dog leg to the right. Conditioning is average, with rye and bluegrass fairways and bent grass greens. There were a few bare lies here and there, but nothing major to complain about. As for the scenery surrounding the course - it's wonderful, with the Balsam Mountains visible everywhere you turn - certainly a major selling point for the resort, along with the fun-yet-challenging courses they offer.
wonderful course
Course was in great shape for end of March. Greens aerated but to be expected. It's woman friendly, well maintained, friendly staff and gorgeous scenery. Would love to play more at Waynesville more often.
Haven't eaten there so can't comment.
First round
This was my first round of golf at the Waynesville Golf and Spa resort. I had a good day. I am hoping that as the season goes on, the course will continue to improve. Cart paths could be confusing if not for the great signage. The views of the mountains are great. The views of some of the run down homes on the periphery of the course are not so good.
Waynesville Golf Resort Blue Ridge/Carolina
Great course. Wide open fairways. Rough is not too tall. Some water hazards. Was fun to play.
Saturday playtime
Was a very pleasant round. Encountered one foursome that was really loud an disrespectful torwars others. Thank goodness they were half a round ahead. I'm sire other did not get the pleasant experience I was able to have.
Well conditioned for February
I've played here a lot, and I just wanted to say that for the time of year, the course was in really good condition. Greens were fast, and fairways better than expected considering recent bad weather.
This course is fun to play with great mountain views.
It was a very windy and chilly day, but the course was in great shape for this time of year. The Pro Shop staff are outstanding (very friendly and helpful).
Great course for what I paid!
Waynesville golf club is normally around $50 but we were able to play it for $14.00! For that price and the shape the course was in you almost felt like you stole a round of golf!!
Not that great
I like a course where the staff is very friendly and they make you feel as though you are a VIP and not a burden when you ask questions or bring concerns to them. The course had many leaves and was not blown off that morning though we teed off at 12:00. The putting green had leaves all over it as well. For the money and quality (lack thereof) I would suggest a different course than this one.
Well maintained course. Greens are great.
The staff was very friendly. Greens were well maintained and were very consistent. Courses were easy to play with no surprises. Played first nine with no one in front and no one pushing from behind. Last nine was a bit more congested but still very enjoyable. Will definitely recommend course to anyone visiting area.
Fall beauty
This course has beautiful mountain view and was especially pretty this time of year.. It is in good condition and very playable. The greens are excellent but fairly difficult. All level of players would enjoy this course. Have played this course several times in the past and look forward to playing again in the future.
Super course!
Had a great time. Course was in good condition and was not crowded that day.
great value
played course for $40 thru golfnow site. paid for the4 players but only ended up with 3 players. site states no refunds so be sure of number of players when paying on-line. Course was superb. beautiful mountain views and course was in excellent comdition. Some fairly easy par 4's and a couple of reachable par 5's for longer hitters. not difficult course but very enjoyable.
Waynesville Inn Golf Resort is so much fun!
This course is perfect for a short, straight hitter. I am a 26 index, and hit 9 greens in regulation from the reds, very fun for me. Golf courses are too long, this course is perfect. Husband hit from the whites, 16 index, senior, again perfect length. Very pretty, trees are turning color. Highly recommend.
this course is one of a few mantained public cousrse in WNC. the rest are nasty wild grass cesspool water
this course is one of a few mantained public cousrse in WNC. the rest are nasty wild grass, cesspool water, mud hole sand traps, & greens that are just bad.
Stunning views great course
Greens are beautiful and course picturque. Rough tough but fair. Staff was very nice.
Great mountain course. Well maintained.
The greens were more challenging than I was accustomed to. They were consistently fast.
Resort golf = makes you feel better about your game :-)
Waynesville Inn GC is very much a resort golf course -- though it's par 70, you can probably treat it more like a par 65. I played the Carolina and Dogwood, and 280-yard par fours abounded. It's a quick remedy if you're feeling a little down about your golf game. :-)
Conditions were VERY nice; the greens were true and well maintained, but without much challenge. Many of the holes were well designed, but for a different era than that of the long drive bomber. 4-iron, wedge was the story of the day.
If you get a deal on Golfnow, by all means, take it -- it's a great little course and a nice break from beating yourself up on 7000-yard courses. :-)
Short and not very wide but a great track.
Scheduled to play Saturday but rained all morning so contacted the course to reschedule for Sunday and the Pro Shop was more than happy to do so. Played the Dogwood and Blue Ridge 9 holes today and they were both in great shape from tee to green. Greens were Awesome!!! and rolled true with no bare spots which is great since most other courses have had a lot of problems do to all the rain. Little to no water in the fairways and it had rained all day on Saturday. Would definitely play again and try to get in all three nine holes. Staff was friendly and practice ranges were very nice. Cart path only today but pace of play was not an issue. Thank you to GolfNow for the discounted rate and making it easier to afford playing this course.
