Another Solid Sioux Falls Municipal Course

This was my first time seeing the fully renovated "Championship" course at Elmwood, and for being on a flat piece of land devoid of natural features, they did a really nice job creating a fun, moderately challenging golf course, that is in really good condition.

The Championship Course at Elmwood is composed of the West and North Nines. The course is a traditional parkland layout with narrow, tree-lined fairways and raised, bunkered greens. But it's not overly difficult. The landing areas are generous enough, and if you hit it in the trees, it's easy to find your ball and punch out.

The greens are moderately sloped and roll fast and true, despite a recent top-dressing. I imagine these greens can get very quick if the superintendent wants to do so.

Elmwood has a nice driving range and multiple practice greens, as well as a fully stocked pro-shop and a snack bar. The carts on the course also have GPS. I appreciated the GPS, but found it annoying after a while because there were so many advertisements. I felt like I was always having to "return to golf."

At $62 to ride on a Saturday morning, the price felt a little steep. But I ended up enjoying the round. I think it would be a great value at $50 or less to ride 18 holes.

My favorite hole on the course is the opener. It's a medium length par 4 that sets the tone for what you're going to face all day. Honestly I could have picked a few other holes too.

Wide open fairways!

Nice little municipal course has three 9-hole courses (west, north and east). We played west and north - not a lot of trouble to get into as far as sand or water goes. Fairways and greens were in really good shape! Really good pace of play and friendly staff!

Great golf course

This is a really nice course. The rough is tough as it should be, but stay on the fairway and you can get GIRs. Pace of play was fine even for twosome at noon. Will go back.
