Needs work
Sand traps are atrocious. Either fix them or fill them in. Cut the grass. On the hottest day so far in 2014, keep the water coolers full!
Nice course
It's a nice course I will play again if I am ever up this way again
Sorely disappointed
I have played this course since it was first built, and have always loved it. It has always been maintained as a tour level course. Not sure what has happend in the last couple of years, but I would just as soon play a municiple course that charges about $9. The course is in terrible shape. Tee boxes are bare. Greens are not maintained. Cart paths are full of potholes, and some even have plywood over them so you can have cart access. Sand traps had no visible sand, just mud and gravel. Signage looks like a third grader painted on some scrap wood. I played this course when it was cart path only, and was like playing on carpet. Sorely disappointed in what it has become. I am sue the club members are pulling their hair out after what they have played in the past.
Not too easy, not to hard
This course is one of my favorites. Although it's not in the best shape that it has been in the past, I'll always come back. It is a different course because there are a lot of holes that make you really think about your shots and how exactly to go about them. One hole will be flat and the next, you'll find yourself hitting a shot at the green 100 feet below you. With elevation changes and quick turns, this can be a difficult course. But just the same, this course is definitely a good course for all skill sets. It's definitely not too tough, but surely not too easy. Great round.
Nothing but a pasture with putting greens
We have played almost every course in the Asheville area, we thought . I found a brochure in our hotel lobby and thought dang that looks really nice( by the photos) NOT ! This place needed to be bush hogged , not mowed but bush hogged. The greens were spotted with dead patches all in them. The girl in the pro shop was very nice and helpful but don't let the pictures fool you. A dog park maybe but to pay those fees was crazy . Cummings Cove or Etowah Vally are by far the best courses in the area.
What a course!
We played Reems Creek at about noon on a Monday. We thought that it would take about 4.5 hours or so to play because it is a challenging course. Much to our surprise, we finished in about 3 hours. We only ran into one other group in front of us on the entire 18 and they were kind enough to let us play through.
With the course allowing some areas to grow 'natural' it makes accuracy of shots more important. The green were, generally, in very good condition, though it was obvious on a couple of holes that some who play do not bother to repair ball marks, but that seems more true now on all courses.
New review
This is my second review and I have noticed some consistencies with this course since my last review. As stated in my other review I've been playing Reems Creek for over 15 years and it has basically served as my home course. As a result I remember the good ol' days when it was consistently one of the best maintained public or should I say semi-private courses in the area year round. However Since the sell to Warrior Golf conditions are seasonally based. First off let me state any time of year the bunkers are mostly bad my suggestion treat them like ground under repair and take a drop out. Other then that play the course between April to about the last week of June and the rest of the course tends to be in pretty good shape. Starting around the end of June in the last few years the course has been burning out pretty bad kind of looking like the edges of Pinehurst fairways during the U.S. Open. So July, August, and September tend to be pretty bad. The course starts recovering around October giving you a couple more months of decent conditions until about January when it gets to cold. I hope this helps.
Sand traps
have always enjoyed your course.s need to improve on your sand traps also encourage groups of 4 or even 2 at their slow players to let people play through them. would have enjoyed my golfing experience they're much more if groups and let me play through.
Course is in poor condition
No sand in traps all washed out.
Trash,broken limbs etc. all over
Large sink holes on course 2, 4, 14
Cart paths are ruined
Greens have been allowed to grow over with poa annua
Trees have grown over fairways making approach shots difficult
Great layout needs TLC!
Mothers day 2014
would give it 5 stars across the board but there was no water in the clubhouse and very little on the course. Other food and drinks, so things were OK, but water would have been excellent. Other than that, we loved it and will definitely be back!
many elevation changes
challenging course will well kept fairways and greens - a few hidden trouble spots for approach shots to green. Not impressed with paying Golfnow fee for course pricing which was the same as if we had walked in off the street.
I keeo back because if the sta
I keep coming back because of the staff but I am convinced that Warrior god should be bought out. This was once a great course. In the past year it has fallen off. The greens are not bent grass anymore the tees are thin. No sand in traps. They had a guy on a tractor blowing grass off of the tees when he should have been putting weed killer in the greens. I would rather play the muni in Asheville. At least it was designed by a legend! If the staff weren't so nice I'm sure it would be shut down!
true mountain course
I played a couple of days after a bad storm. The sand traps and some of the cart paths were washed out. The greens were four different shades of green but rolled true. Hilly terrain, which I enjoy occasionally. Beautiful scenery. Is not worth the price posted in the clubhouse, but the golf now hot deal was a hot deal on this course. I will play here again when the weather is nice and I can get another good hot deal.
Excellent mountain course with beautiful views!!
Gorgeous course, driving the cart path is like a stroll through a nature reserve. Loved playing it, only issue was there is a lot of mud on the course. My cart got stuck twice but one of the greens keepers guys was so nice and helped me push my cart out of the mud. The thing about the mud that confused me was it hadn't rained in over a week, just needed some course attention. Minor complaint though because I really loved the course and can't wait to play it again. I live in Johnson City TN, and the location is right off the interstate and easy to find. Quick in and quick out. Staff is really friendly and clubhouse is nice and clean too.
This course was fun.
The course was lots of fun with lots of elevation change and the greens were in great shape for early season. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Golf carts have GPS to show how far from front, back, and pin. Which I thought was very helpful. Everything was was great would recommend to anyone.
Solid
I think it's hard to build a golf course on the side of a mountain that isn't super goofy....Reems Creek pulls it off. Course condition was ok for March. Will def play again. We paid $16 for a sat afternoon. Great Value.
A work in progress
Just aerated the greens that day, so they were covered with sand. Working on 18th fairway and pond. No starter, so often you will have several groups waiting to tee off at same time. Will let groups larger than four play together which slows play. Bunkers typically not maintained, expect rocks in some traps. There are areas under repair on atleast four fairways, (2,7,12,18).
Could be better but well worth the discounted price. GPS in carts a big plus. Like the course, could be better maintained. Biggest complaint would be poorly managed start times, along with large groups playing together.
Improvements Needed!
Have played this course for many years and for the most part have enjoyed the experiences.
Current conditions are extremely poor; i.e. Sand Traps need to have sand; rough around the greens need to be manicured, and some of the greens require some amount of work and maintenance. Also the cart paths are in need of repair.
Nice track that is somewhat challenging.
Very hilly, both vertical and lateral, with wildly undulating greens.
Maximum emphasis on ball placement. A good tee shot can hit in the fairway and then bounce/roll off due to serious lateral sloping - sometimes even out of play. Familiarity with the course would like mean using a driver on 3-4 times per round. Beautiful surroundings with the autumn colors.
