Strong Golf Course
I played The Bluffs for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. This is not your typical small town South Dakota golf course. The Bluffs is a tremendous layout with many strong holes. It's fair, but play it smart and pick the right tees.
My favorite aspect of The Bluffs was the greens. They are contoured and FAST! I learned right away not to get above the hole after my birdie putt on 2 raced 12 feet by. I'm not sure I've putted better greens in South Dakota.
The Bluffs has a good variety of par 5s, though on my day the wind switched mid round, so I had to play all 4 into the wind. The par 3s were all mid to long, so for me that is a knock against the course. I like at least 1 short par 3.
The 13th hole gets all the press, and it is a cool hole. You can aim farther left than you think. I was worried I had hit my tee shot too far left and ended up through the fairway on the right.
I have 2 items that kept this from being a 5 star course.
1) The amenities are lacking a bit. No GPS or windscreens on the carts. Also, there isn't a ball washer on every hole.
2) Many of the native areas are overgrown creating blind shots where they are not needed. Maybe this is intentional to make the holes feel tighter than they are but it detracts from the course.
Overall though, The Bluffs is a strong course with great views and I would play again.
Nice course for the money
Enjoyed the course. It has several interesting holes that will challenge your club selection. Scenery is very good. A good value!
This course is in very good condition Green's very receptive and very interesting driving from the top of the bluff off to the bottom Valley to play those holes down there very interesting had a great time would recommend this course to anybody playing in the Yankton Vermillion South Dakota area will definitely be back
Makes my Top 3 favorites!
I have played here many times and wish it were my home course! Several holes are the most challenging but fair if you play smart! When leaving The Bluffs I am looking forward to my awesome adventure the next time we play!
Bluffs first timer
Great course. Very playable but keep it in play.
The Bluffs
A hot deal here is for sure worth it. This course has a little bit of everything; water, tall grass, well designed holes into the landscape, and much more. The signature hole is certainly the 13th hole where you tee off from a tall bluff onto a dog-leg left fairway with tall grass hazard to the right and an elevated green. Such a cool hole. There are certainly other neat holes too, but that stands far above the rest. There are many different tee boxes to match all skill levels. The conditions were solid and the greens true. A really good Hot Deal value in my opinion. Certainly worth the drive from Sioux City.
First time
Course was nice and well maitained with interesting layout. Threesome was mixed waling and riding and constantly neld up the pace.
Great shape
Course in excellent condition. Greens challenging. Views of valley very nice.
Nice country golf course
I very much enjoyed playing in Vermillion. I would strongly recommend this course to anyone from a scratch player to a high handicap. Higher handicapped should play from the front tees, better players from the back 2 tees. Enjoy.
Great Course
Great course with awesome views, fairways are wide for the beginner golfer, could use a beverage cart service
Small town, but great golf experience
The Bluffs is a very exciting golf course, that hosts the University of South Dakota golf team. The course has some holes where you can really score from, but if you aren't hitting fairways you can get into a lot of trouble. The staff is very personable, always making sure to get you a tee time if you're willing to make the trip. The course is kept up well, despite having problems with heavy rain in recent years. The greens are very receiving, and fairways definitely reward the accurate driver. The 13th hole is one of the most unique I have ever golfed. Beautiful view of the Missouri River basin on the Back 9 as well.
Vermillion- Bluff GC
This is a very exciting course. Sets up well for beginners, yet if played from the long tees will possess a challenge to advanced golfers. The course has some of the most beautiful greens that I have played, and the 13th hole is very unique with over a 100 foot drop on the challenging par-4!
The pro shop is also above average as well!
Very Pleasurable Golf Courst
The Bluffs is in fantastic shape! A couple challenging holes, overall not an easy course. I enjoy The Bluffs every time I go there!!!
