Another elevated green at Beacon Ridge. Photo submitted by JasonDeeganGA on 12/27/2013
Coures is in very good shape.
The only complaint I would have is that there were no water stations or beverage cart out on the course during a hot day.
Nice Layout
This course is a very nice layout BUT the maintenance is lacking. It is early April so the fairways grass is still dormant but unfortunately there was way too much of the fairways without any grass, just sand. On some of the fairways the roots from the trees have grown into the playing area, so attempting to hit the ball becomes dangerous.
The greens were a little slow, but that should be expected for early spring,
The sand traps could use some TLC, since there are 64 of them on the course.
Tee boxes could use some levelling and overseeing, but not that bad.
The course has great elevation changes with water in play on some of the holes. It is lined with houses, but they are well out of play.
The golf carts were electric and new, but no GPS. We did not enter the clubhouse, but it appeared to be closed.
We only played $40 thru GolfNow, so it was worth the money. If you don’t pay much, don’t expect much.
Extreme slow play
Played solo. 1 hour front nine. 3 hr back nine. No ranger to ensure pace of play. Will not be playing again.
Going Down Hill
I thought that i would give Beacon Hill another chance, but unfortunately this trip was like the previous two visits. Even for winter conditions, this course is not in good shape. Very little sand in bunkers. Very little grass on tee boxes and more sand than grass in the fairways. I had to drive the cart on the fairways because the cart paths were in such bad shape, ruts and gaps from broken asphalt made the ride unbearable. This is a course that needs some financial investment. I would not be happy if I owned property there.
Over priced
I have not played this course in several years. It was very disappointing to see the condition and the pricing. I probably won’t be back.
. The course condition is very good. The Tee boxes are good , all greens roll true and the fairways are thick. For the price we paid it was a great value, especially considering other good Sandhills courses charges you $100+. Recommend
Winter golf in the Sandhills
I've lived in the area for 30 yrs. It's early spring and things are just waking up. Conditions everywhere in the area aren't at their best yet. That said Beacon Ridge was a great value and a challenge for a couple of older, average golfers.
Great course
As always challenging course, layout, and very tough greens! Great customer service also! We will return!
