Pinehurst Area Golf Trip
Course needs water. Greens very slow. Bar and restaurant closes early. Nothing available at the turn. Pro Shop Attendant very rude and condescending to the group. Overall could be a good course but can tell they are cutting corners operationally.
Good course
Have played here a few times a year for the past several years charged the local rate which was suppose to include food and a couple off drinks. Golf course Ian in decent shape green shirt are slow which is expected this time of year but overall good. Went to bar before round purchased beverages for the round got a free cooler but couldn’t wait for food because they were busy and we had to tee off so young lady said we will be here when you get done. Finished at 4:30 and the older lady I believe manager was rude and said food is not available I’ve been here since 6:00 am like it was our fault. Then proceeded to argue with us about whether we were told or not about food not being available. If it’s isn’t available that’s fine but you charged each of us for it so basically that would be like charging me for a tee time then saying sorry we are closed with no refund. No thanks happy about it so be cautious and make sure you get what you pay for
Best Deal in the Sandhills
Now that the golf course has dried up, it is really shaping up nicely. Energetic and friendly staff, great course conditions. Free lunch and drinks was just an added bonus. Hands down, best deal in the area.
Course Conditions Terrible
Steer clear of 7 Lakes. We played with a group of 12 during a recent trip to Pinehurst area. Our group was extremely disappointed with this course. All greens had significant bare spots and many had crab grass growing on them. The person cutting the greens completely missed cutting several areas of the green. The greens were so long that we could barely get balls to the hole. Playing there was the low point of our group trip.
Seven Lakes - Great
Course was in excellent condition except greens weee recently punched and sanded so putting was a challenge. Pace of play was good. Special deal of breakfast, golf and lunch with two drinks was really a great surprise.
Staff was very friendly. We enjoyed our entire experience!
Challenging but fair
1st time playing here and really enjoyed the course. Hit almost every club in my bag. Course was in really nice shape. There are some long holes and some shorter ones, which is the best type of layout in my opinion. Greens were challenging and putted true. Will definitely go back.
Thank you 7lakes for a great day!
Fairways were in good condition. Another month they should be perfect. Greens were just punched 2-3 weeks ago were rolling smooth. Tee boxes were in good shape. Your round includes lunch with 2 drinks. A great deal. Food was good, service was even better. Cannot wait to go back.
True test
Fantastic layout. This course challenges, but isn't unfair. The condition was very nice. The greens were in good shape, but they are about to give them a work over so they were a little slow.
This course fits into the landscape effortlessly. It flows up and down hills, often times in just one hole, and creates interesting shot options with small, multi-tiered greens. Water comes into play on the back nine as well as some serious up hill shots. The greens are severely elevated on a few holes and make approach shots difficult.
The course is a beauty. Downhill, bending holes look glorious late in the day. The water holes are the stuff of postcards.
The pro in the shop, Mike Whitley, was super friendly. We stopped by to take a look at the course, as we had never played it and our golf package needed to be altered. One course on our package wasn't in good shape, so they offered us a chance at 7 Lakes. Mike was very welcoming and let us take a cart and view a few holes. He was super laid back, helped us with tee times, and just made the golf/pro shop atmosphere what it should be; a place where we relate to the course, our game, and each other.
Not Sure
I am not really sure why all the reviewers said the course is in perfect condition.
This was my first time play here. I decided to play here after reading a lot of positive reviews.
It is not a bad course but it is not the best course.
And it is NOT in a perfect condition.
Greens are VERY SLOW (considering it was aerated a few days prior to my play)
Front 9 hole fairways are really in bad shape- lots of dirt area.
Back 9 hole fairways are really in great shape though.
Good layout, SLOW greens, not super good fairways.
3.8- 4 /5 stars course
Go Play 7Lakes
This course is in great shape, fun to play and is a bargain at this price, plus you get lunch and drinks for the same price. I highly recommend you go play 7lakes you won't be disappointed.
Best Value in the Area
Was in town for 2 days for business and decided to try this course considering the great reviews.
Conditions were perfect on a great layout. Tough to find that for this price anywhere, especially in this area. Also a sneaky challenging course, but it was still very enjoyable. Mike in the pro shop was extremely friendly and helpful. Will definitely be coming back when back in the area!!
Hidden Gem
This course is short and in good condition. They have a senior rate on Wednesday of $18. A Great value.
Great Layout, but what happened to the greens
I recommended this course to our group because I had read great reviews and heard good things from some buddies of mine. The layout is unique and the fairways and tee boxes were in great shape, but 16 of the 18 greens had giant dead spots. Of the 16 with dead spots about 10 had less than 50% grass on the whole green. I'm not sure how they got like this, but I have a good guess. We played from 10am-2pm in 95 degree heat and not once did we see someone watering the bent grass greens. During a typical round in our area you will have to wait several times during a round in extreme heat for a greenskeeper to water the bentgrass. Never happened. I liked the course and would like to play it again, but not until the greens are fixed. Worst greens I have seen in a long time.
Really enjoyed my round
I played in the morning at foxfire, was so disappointed by condition of course, I left for lunch and decided to try Seven Lakes. I'm glad I did, the course was very nice. I played as a single in the afternoon of a Tuesday. There wasn't a single soul on the course besides myself, in the 90s with high humidity of course. The course was solid, grass cut nice and tight like it should. The greens were smooth and sandy per the area. The course may be just average level for the area, but after the terrible foxfire it made it seem much better.
Fun course
Enjoyable layout with plenty of challenges. It requires all the clubs in the bag. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Our group of 10 golfers of varying capabilities found the course to be fun and challenging.
challenging but fun
The staff went out of their way to accommodate my wife and I and we really enjoyed the course. They put a local resident with us who was familiar with the course and it was a pleasure to meet him. We played three different courses on our trip and this was our favorite. The price was excellent also. We will definitely play there again on our next trip.
Great Deal if you are a loyalty club member
$45 for breakfast buffet, lunch off the menu, range balls and a round of golf. Best deal I found all summer. We visit once a year and the course is under new management. Clubhouse staff at check in were great. Restaurant for lunch not so much. Food was good but the waitress never came back. Only saw her when she dropped the food off (order was screwed up). It's too bad because the money saved from the meal would have been an $8 tip from myself alone. Tee to green course was in great shape. Greens did have light sand on them but it didn't effect putting what so ever. Bunkers had soft sand and were raked.
Good Test of Golf in Beautiful Setting
I was the guest of a member, who told me that I would enjoy his track. He was right. Although there are some flaws (some tee boxes, cart paths), I am told steps are being taken to improve things. As for the course itself, I was satisfied with conditions. Some of the dormant grass is still coming in in spots. The design is a challenge especially if you have never played the course. I was fortunate to have a member guiding me through the idiosyncrasies. If you don't know the correct target, you will find uneven lies and impeded views. The smallish greens with many feeding front to back make flat lies imperative. Fliers are no good. Driver is not needed all the time. Club selection is important. The community is beautiful, and the setting very serene. A glorious, sunny, comfortable day in Sandhill Country.
Check in person very rude
Check in person was very rude. He had over booked my tee time with a foursome and made me rush out to get ahead of them. Never apologized for his mistake. will never play there again.
How were the greens? They were completely seeded last fall. I have a group visiting in September and don't want to be disappointed.
