Playing the Stoney
Had a great round. Course layout was a little confusing on s couple of holes. The staff could more helpful on a couple of the hole layouts. If you play 18, 10 is directly across the road from the clubhouse. You have to cross the road at an angle after teeing off on 15. Greens & Fairways were in nice shape, avoid the rough it is really thick, had to club up the couple times I got into it.
Worth the trip
First of all let's talk about the staff. We met three people on the day we played in the clubhouse, 2 folks at the counter and the general manager Rick. All 3 of these folks were awesome. We arrived at 9:00 for our 9:40 tee time. The first gentleman at the counter was kind enough to tell us that he had a few " bigger" groups about to go off and he offered our twosome a chance to go ahead, I thought that was very nice of him to do that since he did not have to tell us that and most courses would probably not. Being a "seasoned" 40 plus year golfer I have learned the most important thing a golf course can offer players is character and holes that keep you wondering what the next hole will look like. Stoneybrook does that with it's more than interesting layout. It has a nice variety of lengths in all the par 3's , 4's and 5's that allows the Goller to figure out for themselves the risk and reward options in front of them. I enjoyed my round here very much and will be back for sure. Keep up the good work !!
Dear Dclairmo,
Wow!! Thanks so much for your review and your kind comments. We hope to see you again. We'll continue to strive to make Stoneybrook a good experience for everyone.
Nice hot deal
Nice little course with good layout. Enjoyed the round a couple of the greens were rough but over all the greens were slow and forgiving. Fairways were well defined with a couple of areas under repair. Overall a good value and I would recommend.
Dear Mr. Shipman,
Thank you for your kind comments. We value you choosing Stoneybrook and taking the time to visit us. We look forward to your return. Please let me know if we can do anything for you in the future.

Stoneybrook
I played this Sunday and I had a great time. Played quickly and didn't really ever have to wait. Greens very good condition, a little on the slow side but we're consistent. Fairways a few bare spots but not a problem. I would play again. Paired up with a three some and had a great time.
Sir,
Thank you for visiting us at Stoneybrook. We are please you had a good experience at we look forward to your return here soon. I will relay your feedback to our staff.
Best regards,
Rick
Cool course
Course was in good shape. Great value. I'd like for the greens to be faster and tee boxes to be mowed lower. I'll be playing this course again soon.
Vince,
Thank you for your feedback. We are currently mowing the greens a bit higher to protect our bent grass from "burning" do to the extreme hot weather. We have had very little rain at the course lately and we're having to spend extra hours irrigating to keep them healthy. Thanks for playing Stoneybrook. Hope to see you soon!

No bunkers
Although the creek comes into play several times during the course as well as ponds, there are no sand filled bunkers. It was a nice morning to play golf. Very green and pretty. They are working on the golf cart paths so watch the potholes. Greens kept nicely cut. A couple of the tees were overgrown, but fairways were cut just fine. I would play again.
Hello,
Thank you for the kind comments. I believe you may have played two days after we re opened the 6th and 8th fairways after sodding them. thank you for your patronage.

This used to be a great place to play
I chose to play StoneyBrook Saturday 6.25.16 due to the close proximity and remembering that I really like playing it the last time I was there a little over a year and a half ago. Twilight time was a fair 17.50$ so I booked the tee time for a friend and I. Upon arrival, the fairways were more like rocky dirt and weed-covered fields where your ball has the opportunity to just disappear into the air as if a gopher ran off with it. The cart path was barely even able to be called that, and the water hazard around hole 10 and 9? Absolutely disgusting. I would say that this course is only worth a 6-10$ fee at best. Do not play here until they have committed to actually improving the entire course because everything was terrible play wise.
Dear patron,
Though we may mildly disagree with your candid comments about the fairways we sincerely thank you for the feedback. We hope to be able to afford an aeration pump next spring to eliminate the algae in the irrigation pond.
Best regards,

Shots Requires
Played with my son and we had a good days. A couple groups were friendly and let us play through. Couple holes under construction. For a discounted rate at 2pm was fair value for current conditions.
Thank you so much for your feedback. We value all of our patrons and hope you return soon to Stoneybrook.
Staff was extremely friendly
The staff was great. It was an extremely hot day but still had a good experience. They were working on the course but the temporary fairways were a good solution. should be nice when it is done.
Thank you for your kind comment! I relayed this to my staff. We are targeting July 15th time frame to open the holes 6 & 8 and the tees built on 11 & 14..
Best regards,

Stoney Brook
We played the course in about 2 1/2 hours. The staff was very professional and accommodating. The fairways on some holes were a bit shabby, but the greens were very smooth. The greens weren't too fast or too slow, they have enough undulations to make you think about each putt. The holes were fairly short but not all straight. They clearly care about the course and are in the process of making improvements all around. My experience was a very good one and you could not beat the price. I will definitely be back, thanks Stoney Brook!
Dear Holmese03,
Thank you for your kind comments and support. We are in the process of installing sod on fairways 6 and 8, and some limited places on 3 and 5. We are also sodding two tees on 11 and two tees on 14. We cannot thank you enough for your patronage. Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you on your return visit. My email is rick@stoneybrook.us.

Fun course
This course is located in the country surrounded by beautiful views of the countryside. The greens were slow and the fairways were wide but lacking true fairway grass. It was a fun course to play with friendly employees.. The past two times I have golfed there I had my best rounds ever. I would definitely golf there again!
Kirk,
Thanks so much for your feedback. We have sodded various places on 4 fairways this month and hope to have those in play by July 1. I will pass on your kind comments to the staff. We look forward to seeing you again!
Good and bad
The greens were amazing and the fairways were good. The cart path was the worst I've ever seen! The golf carts need 4x4. The cart paths were so bad in some places you had to drive in the grass.
Hello David,
Thanks for playing Stoneybrook recently. Your feedback is greatly valued. Your comments about our cart paths were spot on!! We are planning on paving next to the 3rd green, along with holes 4 and 5 this year. Please know we will make every effort to make it happen. Thanks again for your patronage!!
Interesting layout
I found the course an interesting layout.
The worst part of the whole course was the tee box's and the Fairways, hadn't been cut in quite some time.
Made it hard to tee off and very hard to tell where the fairway was.
Greens were so so and some of them needed help.
People were really nice and a lot of people using the course. So they should put some time into the course.
They were redoing some of the cart paths.
Step in the right direction
staff needs to be a little more friendly
Cart path is shot. Fairways need to be mowed. Tee boxes need to be mowed. Driving range is only wide enough for 6 people. Secured on golf now, didnt realize range balls were extra. That was my fault. Will not return.
Not worth the money
This course is in need of a major face lift. I live 5 mins from this course and have been playing it for 15 years. The course it's self is in terrible condition and doesn't look to be getting any better. The cart path needs to be redone around the whole course. There is some places where it just ends into dirt. There is no rough/fairway distinction. The greens play extremely slow and have no break in them what so ever.
It's a shame to live so close and decide to drive 30 mins to play somewhere else for a good round of golf.
I just played it on Saturday, and it is still terrible. It used to be such a nice place to go, but it is in dire need of a lot of things now.
Nice little country course
Stoneybrook IS worth the drive!
The course is in good shape for a public country course. The staff is extremely nice and helpful. Full facilities and a pretty nice little layout. Fun! Greens were in good shape and very difficult. That sorta makes up for the fairways of clover. A few really challenging holes. If you're expecting Innsbrook, you will be disappointed but for a fun, relaxing round in the country, this is the place.
Nice greens, and that's about it.
A course of peculiar layout and mediocre conditions. Almost every tee shot is blind, making the course extremely difficult to maneuver on first playing. Adding to the difficulty is the fact that the fairways are almost indistinguishable from the rough. The "cart paths" are largely unpaved and otherwise cracked and rutted. The greens are in nice shape and roll true. They are the only redeemable feature of the course and the only thing that keep me from rating this course poor across the board.
This course shouldn't be open!
Very disappointed is all I can say. I know it's been wet but it appears that there is no grounds keeping. More mud than grass, cart paths in shambles, only the greens were in understandable repair and they had been recently airified with the sand washed away. I play 70 to 100 rounds a year and have never played on such devastation. Even if you get a good rate, don't waste your money. Two days later and 30 miles away, we played a wonderful course for $2 more. Sorry!
Golf the way it was meant to be
Stoneybrook will never be mistaken as Augusta National, but its my favorite course in the area. Why? 1) the staff. how you're treated when you walk in the door makes a huge impression on me. they don't treat you like they're only interested in your money, you're treated like a 'member'. 2) the course provides a variety of shot challenges, not just the you have to hit it 300 off the tee to score. This course provides the perfect challenge for the bogey golfer (which 90% of players are whether you'll admit it or not). 3) Lack of sand traps, helps pace of play not hurts the golf experience.
inexpensive
Course is very poor in design and especially condition. Staff is very nice, and food is excellent. I feel the staff does the best they can with what appears to be a very limited budget.
Dear Rcobra,
Thanks for your feedback. your input about the staff is very helpful. I need to train our "non golfing" employees how to better understand our layoff. Thanks again.
