This course is lacks features
Their is no driving range, chipping and pitching putting separate facilities. Their are some beautiful venues on the course
such as tree scenery, houses, etc.. It is within a residential area and somewhat closed in to the senses.
It requires hitting the ball straight without any need to work the ball. It is a great
course for the expert golfer to home their skills!
Worst layout I've ever played.
Very poor layout. The course is very tight which I don't mind, I hit it fairly straight but besides narrow fairways it is just a poor design and not in the best condition. For example, #14 is a dogleg left par 5 that requires a long drive to a narrow fairway with homes down the left side. I hit a nice drive down the middle and then was left with hitting two wedges to go around the dogleg (houses stop you from cutting the corner). Just a stupid hole! I would be surprised if this struggling course makes it, good players won't come back due to the layout and condition, and it is to hard for higher handicappers. I normally don't leave reviews but was compelled to this time to save you all some frustration or at least to have low expectations for your round.
Cordova golf
Enjoyed this course. Different aspect on each hole and not too difficult. Would certainly play again
Good deal for the start of the season!
CCC had decent greens considering the time of year. Couldn't pass up the great price I found online. I've played CCC many times before and consider it a pretty challenging course due to the narrow fairways and possibly challenging pin locations. Great challenge either way!
January Sunday golf
We enjoyed our round at this course. Some players are a bit slow but that happens everywhere. Maybe it is the same people. The course was fine. The conditions were wet due to the recent freezing weather. I look forward to my next round there.
We really enjoyed playing this course although challenging it was great
We have played many courses from Calif. to No. Carolina and here in TN. But, my wife was very impressed with the hospitality
given to us by Kevin Watkins. He was very helpful in giving us details about the course. It was a pleasure dealing with him. And, you can be sure we will recommend this course to friends.
I found this course to be a good value for the money.
This course offers a challenge for players of all levels. I found the fairways to be tight but playable, most of the par 4's are reachable with the world placed 3 wood for a hybrid. However, I did find the greens to be a bit slow.
This course was great.
The staff were really friendly and the course was great. There was a scramble going on when we arrived but they were starting to come off of the course and the staff quickly got us out and on the course.
NORROW FAIRWAYS
The course is tight and close to houses. If you do not keep the ball in play you will be out of bounds on most holes or just simply lose a lot of balls.Good iron play is the way to go.
great course!
loved the speed of the greens. Only complaint is it could be marked a little better as to where certain holes are.
Nice course to practice mid-iron shots and wedges. Not for putting.
There has been no improvement in the greens since early spring. Although they are not bumpy, they are "extremely slow'. It is almost impossible to get your putts to the hole with your normal putting stroke .
Sometimes good, most of the time poor.
I play this course often because it is close and on the lower end of the price scale.
The Bad:
The tee boxes are often not cut for what appears days/week. Grounds on many of the holes appear to be not well kept the majority of the time. The clubhouse is not one to brag about at all. Many of the homes along the course are sort of an eye sore, but that is just Cordova for you. Golf carts are very loud. They are gas carts which is fine, but the noice level is above average, I think, for a golf cart.
The Good:
The greens are mostly well kept and somewhat challenging. Priced to play often. Yesterday, the course was in great condition and I truly enjoyed it (unfortunately, it is only in that condtion about 1 out of 4 times I play there). The staff is very friendly.
Overall:
I will continue to play there because of the friendliness of the staff, the quietness of the course, and the course's ability to provide me with solid practice rounds and not break the bank. However, if you only play once a month and are looking for a pretty course and don't mind paying $5-$10 more, there are better options.
Good course
Good course, slow greens, wasn't in the best shape but not the worst either
Quite different than a year ago
About a year ago (2012) i played Cordova CC for the first time. It was the worst course i had ever played in my life. All but 2 greens were 75% sand and there was not distinction between fairway and rough (it was all patchy and bad). It appeared to simply be a course that was continuing on just so there can be a course. I went back recently and found it t be different.
The course now is in much better shape. All the greens are maintained and very playable. The greens are extremely slow and soft. Perhaps the grass was just cut high the day i played, but these greens were the slowest i had ever played on. In all actuality, this was not a bad thing (i have the putting touch of a jackhammer). The course was maintained much better, with plenty of good grass in the fairways.
This course is very tight and has several extreme dog legs. Water, woods and houses come into play on many holes. Bring extra balls if you slice or hook, because you will lose a few.
As for value, ive noticed many good deals under 25$ on golfnow, which i feel is a solid deal for the course. It wont be the nicest, most pristine course you play (like miramichi, any country club or even stonebridge to an extent), but it will provide for an enjoyable round ESPECIALLY considering how far the condition has come in the last year.
great setup
The setup was very strategic but the greens and fairways need better upkeep. Would be one of the best courses in Memphis if the had better upkeep.
This course is in very poor condition
The greens are very slow and need to be mowed. It appeared that there may have been more than one type of grass and definitely had weeds in most of the greens. The tee boxes had not been mowed in several days and most are not level or even. The fairways also had not been mowed recently and it appeared that the mower may have dull blades as well. I lost a ball in one fairway!
Overall the course is very short, somewhat tight and the layout is strange.
Hidden gem
Really neat course tucked away inside of a neighborhood. Several houses right on the course. A lot of residents could walk down the steps of their porch and be on a tee box. Tight fairways. Beautiful scenery. Enough water to make you think. Don't be afraid of the "country club" in the name. Very laid back, not snooty at all.
The course was in much better shape than previous years I've played it.
I've read some bad reviews of this course and I must say all the nay-sayers are wrong. The greens are great condition and the fairways are pretty nice too. It's worth the money in my opinion. It's a challenging course that requires different club selection off the tee boxes. Great course - Go Play!
A true unique golf experience!
This layout is quite unique to most other courses. It is generally short and yet you must crefully chart your strategy to what the hole will allow. Be patient and give it your immediate attention as you play each hole and it can be very satisfing as recall the holes that you played well and chart you game plan for those "other" holes the next round you play there!
the next round you play there!
Short but challenging
Some fairways are a bit narrow for the higher handicap golfers. green were really slow. almost had to make a full shoulder turn on even the short puts :-) However the experience is well worth the money. I would like to play again nest time in MEMPHIS. Fair warning this is not your true "Country Club" experience Its really more of a golf club with membership opportunities that does allow outside play even at Peak times We had no trouble getting a tee time for 8:30 am the night before.
