Hidden Gem
Temp was in the mid 40's, I showed up about 45 minutes prior to my tee time. The young lady who checked me in was very helpful and friendly. Hit the practice green, which was representative of the greens on the course (fast) and the driving range with has a nice layout with plenty of markers and targets. The course only seemed to have a few golfers so play was at my pace. I loved the layout of the course. It is a bit more challenging than the Links courses in Memphis. The bunkers were in rough shape, but it is the off season. I went the wrong way on hole 4, but had the best drive of the day (took me a minute to figure out the hole was 180 from where I hit). No fault of the the course or layout. I did enjoy it quite a bit and for the price as compared to other public courses at about the same rate I would say it is the best mid priced course in the area. Will definitely be back.
SkiNautique
Very nice course, fun to play, different layouts on many holes, nice condition, FAST greens (but fun, just don't get too excited about 3 putts), and probably the friendliest person in the club house.
Sand bunkers were iffy in some places, otherwise a nice course!
Best Kept Secret
I was hesitant at first to write a review because I love how this course isn't over played. It's located about 10 minutes north of Millington, TN and you have to know where you're going to get there but it's a pleasant drive. The course layout is excellent. You will play every club in the bag. The staff is so friendly from Patty in the shop to the owner who I got to meet on Sunday. In spite of the dryness lately the course is still in good shape. The rough it penalizing, the fairways mowed and in good shape and the greens are amazing and fast. I love playing this course and drive past 4 or 5 other courses to get to this one and I'm never disappointed.
Gem in the woods of Tennessee
Very nice course I will play here again when in Memphis for business. Owner is very nice. Layout Rolling hills and trees lots of trees.
Forest Hills Awesome!
My wife and I enjoyed the drive out to this rural course, and were pleasingly surprised at the excellent shape the course was in. We very much enjoyed our round and strongly recommend the course to other couples.
Unique
Interesting hole layouts. Nice challenge. Good shape.
new management
The course is under new management. The staff is very friendly, the menu has changed and the food is now excellent. Tournament rates are very competitive and usually lower than any other course in the area. This is a beautiful course that is worth the drive.
If you were discouraged in the past because of your experience , please give Forest Hills a second look. Things have changed dramatically and the staff and food are great and the course is awesome.
Good course for the money
Played this course many times. It's pretty much the go to course for our regular foursome.
Windy but fun.
Course was nice. Its way out in the country, but a nice course when you see it.
Marshal310
The course was in good shape and I would recommend it to anyone.
Great value
I enjoyed playing here. The pace of play is better than other courses I have played in the area. That has been a battle since moving here this year. The greens were fine. I did think some of the directions, especially around hole 4 could be better. Overall, I really liked it and will be back.
Beautiful layout
Very enjoyable round. Not super long but few straight holes. Great greens that are sloped and quick. Well worth the price and the drive out from Memphis. I'm sure I'll go back again soon.
Poor grounds
The greens played like they hadn't been cut in 5 days; they were soft and slow. Fairways with any trees nearby were littered with sticks and tree branch fragments blown out by a storm 6 days prior, and they must have just mowed over them instead of picking them up. The course has a ton of potential because of the hills and general layout of the holes, but the grounds were in terrible condition for the hype I've seen about this course.
Good idea, bad execution
This course has a lot of potential. Fun layouts, not too difficult, and friendly staff. But the condition of the course, especially the greens, is poor. Parts of greens were almost completely dead with a lot of sand on them to even them out. Surrounding the greens were what looked to be old grass clippings that have browned and clumped together. I have played the course when it was in better condition than this but it has never been a solid course condition-wise. If you can get a good deal, it's a fun course to play because of the hills and layout, but don't expect anything special with the greens.
Amazing course, Best team, And a must play!!!
Such a fun course to play, with perfect greens! After playing the course over 20 times I still pass 4 other courses on my way to it. Mostly because it is owned by someone who takes great pride in keeping it in the shape it is in. This is worth the drive and every penny! Thank you Forest Hill for such a wonderful Course!
Your words really encourage our maintenance team to keep up their work. We appreciate your positive feedback.
Need work
Fairway needs work green was good but if your ball is in the rough, good luck finding it, lost 4 balls in the 1st cut, the ball won't sit up on the grass at all
We apologize that you have had bad experience with us.
There were weed issue on fairways. However, we sprayed MSMA and took care of this issue now.
We are looking forward to seeing you soon again.
Saturday Outing
Course is in good shape, greens are very nice. Staff was very accommodating and friendly, Definitely great value and worth the drive. Don't expect any fancy clubhouse with any fancy meals, just good solid quality.
We apologize that you have had bad experience with us.
As we noted, Aerification just had been done on Monday and Tuesday. All excess sand and debris (plugs) had been removed by now.
We hope you would come back again soon.
