Back nine is very challenging due to severe elevation changes. Greens were excellent.
Ravenwood is closing at the end of this year but they are still
investing in the course. Greens were excellent. Rates are great through GolfNow. Paid $14 plus tax includes cart.
Not worth playing
Tee boxes rock hard
No grass in fairways
Less than half of greens were, mostly sand
Front nine closed
More of a pasture than golf course.
Great Challenge!
Course was in great shape for the time of year. Greens were really fast and good!
Old school course. Kind of hilly
A good times course. Hilly but fun. Never too busy it seems. Price is right
course in bad condition
Very poor greens with little grass causing poor conditions for putting in excessive sand on surface. Tee boxes mostly dirt. Practice facilities a real disappointment. Practice green in same bad shape as course. Driving range balls were cut badly from mower blades. Very old range balls. Not enough golf carts to cover players on course an those less than 30 minutes from tee time. This is a challenging course that could be a beautiful place to play
Good Course that's going bye bye
I really love Ravenwood. I give it my recommendation, but not a high one. You can find hot deals that eventually creep down to $9. For that price, it's a steal. That being said the course was bought by Metro and will be closed apparently at the end of the year. It shows. The course hasn't been well maintained at all. The tee boxes are bad, the greens are spotty but ok, and the fairways are playable. There are a couple of greens that have some permanent bad patches on them. What I love about the course is the layout. There's a lot of different holes, and it really gets interesting on the back 9. It's a fun track. Nice couple of shots over water and some good elevation changes. Could be a great course but it simply isn't in its current condition. The staff at the clubhouse are a bit surly. I'll confirm that they sometimes won't let you get started early even if the course is completely empty. They open up a bit when you talk to them and buy some snacks. They can even be friendly once you get to know them.
I've played here on multiple occasions and will be sad to see it go.
Overall, play here if you want a good layout but don't have high expectations on condition.
Good course for the money.
Fairways were in great shape. The greens were overall good except for a couple of holes. Greens on the front are small and round makes the front nine more difficult since there is no water. We went on a Tuesday afternoon, I might have seen 8 other golfers all day. My buddy and I teed off at 1:00pm and we were done by 3:50. Only $15 with cart. Worth every penny. Just as nice as Nashboro Village or Pine Creek.
Great value with GolfNow price
This course is actually on the brink of being converted into a park, and it's easy to see that the budget has been cut on upkeep and staffing.
For the time being, it is a good value for a nice layout with adequate water and bunkers on a mid-challenge course.
I recommend to play here when you can find a tee time under $20 on GolfNow.
Also, the staff seems to resent using golfnow deals and tend to lighten up with a purchase from the golf shop or kitchen.
Hidden Gem, Challenging for the length
A bucket of balls was included in the price. My wife and I played at a cost of less than forty dollars. Course was in great condition. One green had a pretty large bad spot but all the rest were great. Greens are undulating as is the entire course. The staff were very friendly. We will definitely be back.
Good Value Booking through golfnow.com
I enjoy playing this course when booking through golfnow.com. The par 3 on the back 9 is back in play. Course is good condition.
Good course, bad customer service
Some greens need attention but overall good course. The Pro is not a pro in customer service neither is the other guy behind the counter.
Great course, excellent bang for the buck
Well manicured, well kept course. The staff is great and very friendly. Wind and water always provide interesting challenges. The greeens are very well kept also. If there was any drawback, they struggle to get the 16th green and the 18th green in the shape they would like, but 16 is very close to back to normal. 18 still needs a little work. Overall, great course and great golf experience.
Great course gone south
A couple of greens were in horrible shape. No evidence that they were attending to it and no mention of it by the employees before our round.
Their practice green is no longer available for use.
Burnt greens and clippings in fairways
Before I purchased this round on golfnow, I decided to call the clubhouse to see what type of shape the course was in. The person on the phone said, and I quote, "The course is in phenomenal shape, maybe never been better." I specifically asked about the greens, since it was fall and a time when most courses aerate their greens - he responded "We will not aerate the greens until spring." As I drove up to the clubhouse, I noticed the par 3 hole 12's green was mostly brown, and crispy. 1/2 the wholes that day were aerated, and 4 or 5 greens were actually brown and sun burnt.
Lastly, the fairways had large grass clipping chunks on them. It was as if they hadn't mowed for two or three weeks and then did it all at once leaving chunks everywhere. It was a shame, as I like this location and with some TLC the course would be fun to play, but it left a bad taste in my mouth since the person on the phone told me something that wasn't actually true.
Pattchy fairways and very bad greens.
Not a good course if you're used to playing courses that are well kept up. Greens were splotchy and overall in very bad shape.
Best Value
Course Condition is acceptable with excellent value.
Great staff, good pace, some challenging holes
Some of the greens are being worked on, but overall, they've done a good job maintaining the course.
