Fun course, just need for the fairways to come in.
The greens were great, but the fairways are not coming in yet.
Location and ability to play quickly
The greens are in great shape. The fairways and around the greens are primarily dirt at this time. I likely will not return for several weeks.
A horrible track!
We teed off around 1pm. The pace of play was fantastic. The course is one of the worst I've ever played. The fairways were made of burnt grass and hard dirt. The greens were small, but in good shape. The layout of the course is dangerous. Alot of the greens are located real close to the next tee box. My wife was sitting in the cart on #9 tee box, when an errant shot came from the fairway of #8. It hit the cart hard, missing her by inches. Won't return.
Whittle springs pro is a jack...
Not only were we stuck behind a group at the turn.(not the group we started behind) who thought it was ok to take a group bathroom break halfway thru a hole when it had already been 15 min waiting on the same hole.. but the pro tried to not honor their kids play free rule not only published on their website clearly but part of the city golf uskga setup...may or may not ever go back...
Fun but staff makes confusing decisions
Whittle is basically my second home course. Not a ton of fairway grass but the greens are always smooth and fast so that makes up for it. Hard to play as a single. Staff will send out fivesomes and send foursomes off the back when the front is wide open. Most will let you through. Staff is nice, members on the other hand… If you’re a single or have a group of two, the members won’t let you through not matter what. All and all great course for the money.
Busy day at the course
Course was in good condition for the time of year. Very busy that day almost every hole having to tee off into oncoming golf carts.
Fairly Priced
Course is normally in ok shape. $25 would be ideal for the condition, plus the lack of amenities. Staff is typically very friendly. Bring your own snacks. When they DO have hotdogs….stay away from them!!
To many groups of more than 4 and pace was terrible. Would have taken 3 hours to finish the last 9 holes
Always a Great Day
Play this course often, close to work. Staff is always friendly and course is fun to play.
Greens
With playing at this time of year you really have no idea how the course will be. The fairways were decent, I figured the greens would be Shaggy, But they were real fast! Which was a surprise, my son got mad because of how fast they were. But overall for me well worth the money. When I make it back down to my sisters I would play it again.
Best bang for buck
While it is a very old course it is still in pretty good shape. In decent shape even though cold weather has moved in.
