Great course, helpful staff
Course was fantastic and the guy in the pro shop gave us some great tips.
Very Scenic Course
Really nice course with lots of elevation change. First time ever playing it and as a twosome never had to wait and completed the round in 3 hours 15 minutes. Greens were in nice condition.
Over booked
If you don't mind playing with 6to8 players on a hole this course is for you. Deerfield overbooked. Shame on you.
The pace of play was terrible as they have no Ranger. Fairways were hard like the middle of summer. fairways were cut too close and greens had no consistency.
Very Pleasurable Round!
Course is in great shape. Even after a steady rain from the day before not swampy or muddy. Greens are awesome and fairways not far behind. Will definitely play here again!!
Beautiful views, great course.
Enjoyed it very much, conditions were great for the time of year and even after aeration. Views are incredible.
Nice course
Course was in pretty good shape considering it being mid February and the over abundance of rain. No sand in traps. Very hilly terrain. Course presents lots of uneven stances, even in the fairway. Several hole have pretty tight fairways and landing areas. Challenging but fun for a the average golfer.
Nice course, Friendly staff.
This course is a nice but tough layout. The first time playing you have to know where to place your shot off the tee. The buck 9 is considerably tougher than the front. Hole #3 is a beast. Takes a well placed tee shot over water with less than driver and a forced carry second shot over the water. This is a position course that you have to play more than once to Score very well. Some easy par 5’s help. Derrick was working the pro shop and bar and is a great guy.
Come-in round the mountain course
Too many side hill/side slope fairways to really be considered a good layout. Half fairways require a tee shot that misses to hill side and ball will roll off into fairway. Actually hit four fairways dead center and ball rolled off side of fairway out of play. Tee boxes needed mowing, as well as greens. Unfortunately hole five, guy actually came out and mowed green. Which increased green speed by 75% so putts previously coming up 5-6 ft short now rolled 10-12 ft past hole. Then four holes later greens were unmowed and shaggy again. Other than length, greens were decent bent grass with big patches of poana. None of bunkers were raked but they all had sand. Played on hot deals rate, - $20. It is not worth $40 normal rate. Quite a ways from Knoxville but probably worth drive if you get discount tee time and like playing different and unusual courses. There were several scenic views of Norris Lake from elevated fairways and tee boxes.
Very good greens
Enjoyed this course. Greens were excellent and pace of play was very good. The price we got on GolfNow was also very affordable. We will be back..
Horrible Course!
Worst conditions I've every played on. Greens were like Shag carpet, tee boxes had 2 inches of sand where you would tee off. Was the highest price course within 40 miles and was disappointing. Otherwise course had a good layout and staff was friendly.
Hilly
Beautiful surroundings and all in all a good course. Although obviously this summer the greens have been struggling so they were slow & kept a little longer. Yardage markings can be hard to see other than the 150 markings at times so bring the gps. The course is very hilly with extreme elevation changes in spots so even when carts are allowed on course expect to do some walking up hill in roughs and other places with severe slopes. The surrounding area & views make this place a beautiful course but bring “A” game & be prepared to do some hiking.
Greens
Tee boxes, fairways, traps all in good shape. Several greens have been aeriated and several were having some problems with bare spots. Overall a good experience
Very poor greens
Greens in poor condition but are coming back nicely. Overall everything else is great.
No Greens at Deerfield
Poorly maintained, confusingly marked and bafflingly designed, The Greens at Deerfield has to be one of the worst courses in the country, The course design wedges holes into a bizarre layout with an overuse of elevated tees and narrow landing areas. The greens at present are a travesty. The signage is not helpful. I cannot recommend this course. I'm grateful that I'm only out 20 bucks. Disappointed.
Worst greens EVER
Playing golf for the last 17 years, This is by far the worst greens I’ve ever played on. The ironic thing, this course being called The Greens at Deerfield is hilarious and a slap in the face to anyone that plays this course. The practice putting green was in decent shape, so how can they maintain it and not have one green on the course that was not dead. Not a single one. Please don’t waste your money or time going to this course,
Unfortunate Timing
Course lay out very nice. Greens in horrible shape due to aeration and hornets buzzing all around. Thousands of them on every hole except for three holes. Luckily no stings but ridiculous. Maybe just this time of year? Not sure. Course lay is beautiful with incredible views. If conditions were different would have played again during my week stay on Norris lake.
