Course is in excellent shape except for major repairs on #17. Greens putt true but extremely difficult if above the flag on many of the holes. Thoroughly enjoyable
Forgot how tough it was!
Sleepy Hollow is a wonderful course. Cleveland is blessed to have a track like this one. I played fairly horribly, so that might taint my review. The conditions were wonderful. You have to be ready for thick rough and extremely challenging greens. I was yanking everything to the left, so I spent a good bit of time in the rough, which obviously did not help my score. If you are a high handicapper with a temper, this is not the place for you. The greens are very challenging as well. They were quick once the dew burned off, and some have very serverer slopes. I knocked a 7 foot putt about 40 feet by on one green. There was no way to stop the ball unless it fell in. Again, this place is a good test of all of your game. Be forewarned, but also be excited if you can shoot well here. It would be good to play with someone who knows the lay of the land, because again, you don't want to put yourself in the wrong places here. The people were great, and the condition was wonderful.
Even Better Than I Remembered
I hadn't played Sleepy Hollow in over 20 years, and the course is not disappoint me. Conditions were first rate. The rough was penal, the greens were firm and fast, and the pace of play was right on four hours. The blue tees were certainly demanding. Some of the pin positions were diabolical on a Monday. The staff were friendly and helpful. It will not be another 20 years before I go back.
The course is like a PGA standard.
Great fairways and greens.
Beautiful course !!!
A challenging course
The course was in excellent condition. Challenging and fun to play. Definitely worth the cost and one hour drive to the course.
The course would not honor the price from yourwebsite.
Angry old man ruined our round
On first tee box we were told there was “another group” ahead of us but we were already 10 min past our tee time.. waiting…. Group of 4 goes off 2 older men and wife and husband and it literally may have been 2 of those peoples first time on the golf course. Front 9 took us 3 hours. We ordered food at hole 8 for the turn. None of it was ready & then one of the cooks forgot the onion rings someone in our group ordered (more waiting) On the tee box at 11 (after no starter could be found on the front) starter told us that group ahead of us stopped after 9 and we needed to pick up the pace because we were half an hour behind…. (No shxt) all 3 of us played the whole well (par, par bogey) and the group behind us didn’t have to wait on a single shot. 12th fairway, there’s the starter. Again telling us to hurry up after 1 hole. Next hole he’s under a pavilion on the side of the fairway, again waiting saying something under his breath as I’m addressing my ball. (Mind you we played those 3 holes in less than 30 mins) Finally after the comment while I’m addressing my ball I tell him to stop following us. He said “I’m just doing my job” where were you on the front 9 where it took literally 3 hours to play 9 holes?? His response was a shoulder shrug and then saying “ just hurry up” while driving away. We teed off at 11:15 and finished at 3:45. I wasn’t going to complain about the slow 9, everyone deserves to enjoy a beautiful golf course & a beautiful day. For our group to be targeted (young men age 27-30) and nothing said to the group of older people who were causing the backup ahead of us is wrong. We felt discriminated against. Here’s another piece of advice for you Sleepy Hollow, If you want people to play faster; don’t have your rough looking like the PGA championship, couple drives just feet off the fairway taking much too long to find. Reconsider your pin positions. You had 3-4 pins literally on a ridge where you cannot get the ball to stop. Make sure your people at the turn don’t mess up or forget about food orders..
it’s sad because the course is in great condition, I will never come back. You absolutely ruined our round made us feel unwelcome, showed you have 0 golf etiquette, talking as a ranger in while I’m addressing my ball in the fairway. Maybe the guy had a bad day, maybe he hates his life… who knows… all I know is I will never give this course my business again. There are plenty of other options in the area that won’t treat you like an inmate, won’t target you because of the clothes you’re wearing (Jordan golf shoes) or because you’re playing music softly.
Never again Sleepy Hollow
Fast greens
Played here two weeks ago rounds are long due to the difficulty. The greens are super fast if you get above the hole you will 3 putt more than likely which makes it fun. Course is in great shape and difficult, if you are trying to work on your game this is not the place to do it will be a long day. Starter was super nice and the beverage cart ladies where very polite and made several rounds.
Very slow pace of play
We teed off 15 min after scheduled time...no problem but first two holes took 1 hr to complete. there were two groups waiting in tee box of hole 2 and 3 and consistenly 4 groups on a hole...1 on green i or two on fairway 1 on tee box with 1 group waiting in tee box...it took 3.5 hrs for only 9 holes....exasperating....height of rough directly off farways was also way too long to be played off of and our group decided to pick up and drop in fairway....ridiculous for a group of experience golfers at a
nicer course...i have played here many times before but no more
Didn’t play
Golf now had the round posted at $5 with cart. I called the course to verify the offer and was told “if it’s listed on Golf Now at that price that’s what it is”. I bought the round. The night before the tee time Golf Now sent me an email - the price listed was wrong and you will be charged $55 at the course. I cancelled the tee time.
Course was great
Sleepy is 1 of the best courses around! Overall great experience.
Golfnow advertised a price that was not even close to the price I had to pay at the course so just be aware it's best to call the course to confirm.
Spring golf
Sleepy Hollow is a great course and value to match. I’ve never had a bad experience playing here. The upkeep is impressive. The staff is top notch. Looking forward to to my next round here.
Metro Parks gem
Had the chance to play sleepy hollow recently. The course remains one of the gems of public golf courses in the Cleveland area. Always well maintained and just a great layout.
