I am a bit surprised that there are no reviews at all of this course since it opened for play way back in 1955 (3 years before I was born) so I'm going to make one today which will also be my first review on this site lol. I understand that "The Country Club" is a members only course but there are always ways to play an occasional round of golf here. One way to play here is through something called the pro-am series which most area courses are a part of. Since this is essentially run by the pro-am people and not the golf course itself I can't fully speak a lot toward their staff or the amenities but as far as I could determine they were probably fine as it appeared to have a country club look and feel to it but with a friendly hometown atmosphere. The course does have a fairly nice driving range with artificial grass mats to hit from as well as a practice putting green. The layout and conditions of the course are both good with a nice variety of hole types to negotiate. There are no water holes or extreme elevation changes on the course. The pace of play was fine considering it was a tournament style event that I was playing in which involved stacked tee times from early morning all the way till around 2:30 pm. Since this a country club I'm sure pace of play can only be an issue during an events anyway. I did notice a few changes from when I had played this course in a tournament MANY years ago. One hole that had stood out to me from my first visit here years ago was a par 3 whose shot angle to the left side of the green was blocked from certain tee boxes. That par 3 hole has been redone and now has an open look and shot angle to the green. It had been so long ago from when I first played here that I couldn't determine how they fixed it. Did they cut one of the trees or move the tee box or even the green? Since this course is accessible yearly via the Knoxville pro-am series I try to play here whenever the course shows up on the shedule (which is available online) even though Morristown is almost an hour's drive time from my house. As for whether it's a good value or not would be up to individual opinion. Playing it through the pro-am is $50 plus $5 if want to play skins. I know not what the fee is for members or what the memberships themselves might cost. I would have at least checked on those numbers if I lived a little closer but for me country club memberships don't make much sense anyway because I would probably feel obligated to play more than I normally would just to get my money's worth out of it while also playing only at that one particular course. All in all though I recommend playing here if you get the opportunity.
