Rating 71.5

Two Rivers Golf Course sits in Donelson, east of downtown Nashville and close to such attractions as the Grand Ole Opry, the Opry Mills Shopping Mall and the Nashville International Airport. The eighth hole provides a good vista of the national of the Nashville skyline.

Two Rivers Golf Course's back tees offer big tests, but three other tee sets allow golfers to choose lengths appropriate to their levels on this golf course that was originally built way back in 1973 and redesigned in 1991.

Two Rivers Golf Course opened a new clubhouse in 2005, with a pro shop, concessions, men's and women's lounges and a cart facility; the patio overlooks the first tee.

Course Poorly Managed Not Age Disability Friendly

Course poorly managed not age, disability user friendly. Discourteous management. Manager Cynthia Dahlgren rude, abusive, refused access to golf cart required based on age, disability even after directly informed of. Knowing this, told golfer and caregiver they would have to walk carrying bag and health supplies. Amounted to denial of access to golf. Made disparaging remarks. Did not abide by courses own published guidelines. Not recommended under current management.

Great place

I really love this course greens are immaculate of crab grass. The tee boxes has really nice Bermuda which make it easy to hit from and the fairways. This course is just a few minutes from my home and will continue to play here weekly.

Great attitude

Wife and I were in Nashville on vacation and I had my golf clubs with me. Hotel staff told me this was a nice course close to the hotel. They were sure right. I went there alone. Great Staff... two fun locals they hooked me up with.
A fun afternoon of golf with 2 regulars who live there.
It was cool that day, but dry and the course was in real good condition.
Any time I'm back in Nashville I'll go back and play there again

Good Course For The Price

I played here recently and was pleasantly surprised at the condition of the course. The tee boxes were well groomed and had plenty of grass. The fairways were in good condition. The first part of the rough is nice, but after that, there are lots of dirt patches. The greens were fast and rolling well. The clubhouse has a snack bar with chips, hotdogs, hamburgers, etc. One downside to this course is it doesn't have a driving range. Not a big deal, but it's nice to warm up sometimes. Overall, I would recommend this course, especially for the price.

Two Rivers is walker-friendly

This municipal course east of Nashville gets a lot of rounds. There are a lot of walkers, given the relatively flat terrain, so be prepared for a longer round.

This course, for the most part, reveals everything to you from the tee box, with a few exceptions. Almost every hole is a dogleg, meaning the course plays much shorter than the yardage listed on the scorecard.

The Bermuda rough bordering the fairways and greens is very thick and balls will tend to sink down, making playing from it a crap shoot. There is also some St. Augustine mixed in at various places throughout, which can really grab the hosel and make for inconsistent ball-striking as well.

Two Rivers’ greatest defense against scoring, however, is the greens. As has been mentioned in other reviews, they were converted to championship Bermuda from Bent, so they are still a little firm. I could not spin a wedge, but found well-struck irons would hold with a few yards of roll out. Many greens are pitched from back to front, requiring approach shots to be left below the hole to avoid 3-putts. Though I was told by a playing partner that putts don’t tend to break as much as they appear to, I found the opposite to be the case. The greens are very grainy and I experienced a lot of pull on cross-grain putts. Those into the grain were quite slow, and those downgrain were extremely fast. I 3-putted four times due to the severe slopes of several greens, like the par-5 third and par-3 sixth.

I preferred the back nine to the front. The holes on the inward half had more character in my opinion.

Though the putting green is quite expansive, there isn’t much of a driving range. There is a faux hole carved out between the 12th hole and 13th tee, where it appears you can warm up and shag your own balls.

The course is very walkable, outside of steep climbs on the 11th and 12th holes, and is reasonable at $26.

Fine Municipal Course

I played in a scramble here so I'm not sure what the cost to play 18 would be on a weekend. The course is laid out well, with several bending fairways. It was in excellent shape with fantastic greens.

Excellent value for the money

We played the course twice and had difficulty reserving getting late starting times, but visibly when arriving there was not that many golfers and many empty holes. On both occasions we started upon arrival more than 45 minutes ahead of our starting time. We felt a lack of integrity and independance. The course layout is really nice and the condtions as well. For the low price it is above average. We enjoyed and had fun to play

Course is in really good shape being winter. The greens were rolling smooth and quick. The greens were very firm and shots would not hold or check, not even full wedge shots. Fairways and rough were very playable.

New greens

First time playing since the reopened the course on Labor Day after completely redoing all of the greens. The greens were in great shape, a little firm but rolled quick. The rough was really thick and hard to find the balls, our group lost multiple balls just off of the fairway because it sat down deep & you would need to step on it to find it.

New Greens

Course just re-opened with new Bermuda greens. I'm not a bermuda-green guy, but they rolled ok and were deceptively fast. Balls ran out past the hole. Having been closed all summer for greens renovation, the rough was very long and healthy. Made for tough conditions if not in the fairway. Some great holes on the back 9. Pace of play was poor. We were a 4some (3 walking), and pushed the 4some in front of us the whole day. Wish the course posted tee times on GolfNow.com, would play more.

Great Conditions

I was a part of a great foursome that booked on golfnow. The course was in excellent condition. My only complaint was on one of the holes on the back 9, the rough on the fringe of the green was very difficult to get my blade through (unlike all the rough on the rest of the course). Great tee boxes, beautiful fairways (well enough to hit the ball fat). If I can find great deals on golfnow for this course, I will surely be back sooner than my last visit.

Great Nashville course

The course is in very good condition. The fairways are spotty on a few holes, but the bunkers are in good shape and the greens are very quick.

Nice Metro Nashville Public Course

Two Rivers G.C. opened in the mid-1970's, and I have played it numerous times through years. It is relatively short by today's yardage standards, but is plenty of golf course for a mid-amateur from the back tees. The greens are usually in good shape year-round. I played this round in early May when the Bermuda grass fairways were still coming in. By late May / early June, the fairways are plush. Two consecutive icy winters have generated a few bare spots due to grass kill, but they will fill in by mid-summer.
This course is fairly open, but there are several no-mow areas you want to avoid. I recommend this course for anyone who enjoys no-frills municipal golf at a reasonable price.
